Over priced and slow

We usually play here once or twice a season. Will likely not go back now. Paid a premium price for the round and the conditions and pace of play were terrible. The saving grace was the cart gal who made great bloody Mary’s and was.fun! Course was in bad shape and greens had a ton of patches! Tee boxes were bare and uneven. Round took 4:45.

Not to be played

Well, the only thing this course has going for it is the scenery, which is stunning to be sure. But it is in horrible shape, with ALOT of standing water/red clay mud- even in the FAIRWAYS! Deep grass everywhere, even fairways-- they can't mow them because... Did I mention-- it's too wet! We had a decent deal from a site or I would have been really mad-- but even $40 would have been too much to charge- and they want $145! We paid in the $75 range and that was just wrong. At this time of year, they are still cart path only. They really shud shut down the back 9 until they can MOW it. Even the greens were fuzzy with weeds and clover about 3/4 inch tall. Oh it also eats a lot of balls because you can't find them in the fairways... Lost in water, mud, tall grass...you name it! Don't go- you can find better here with a lot of island golf aloha. This was not it! Pro shop guys and starter were fine- no complaints. Hot dog and beer at the turn were reasonable. That's all they have going for them.

Pukalani... A good old friend

We play here whenever we come to Maui- usually every 1-2 years. GolfNow had a great deal - 2some with cart for $100. Any golf for 2 under 150 on Maui is great! Lol we played early as the winds really hit hard up on the hill later. Pace of play was the lone downer and we did still finish in just under 4 hours...but it should have been 3.5. The people in fron of us were never ready golf.. Walk out, look at shot, walk back, grab a club, walk out, decide club not right, walk back....you get the idea. The Marshall knew it and did say something to them once ..it got better on the back, but not a lot. Oh well...take in the views and enjoy. We did. Pro shop is always friendly... We had a hot dog at the turn and that took over 12-15 minutes...but since we were backed up anyways, it was another oh well.

Very nice course; pace of play needs help and the staff

We played on a Sunday, so we knew it might be a bit crowded...but that was an understatement. The marshalls were all nice (as opposed to the ProShop staff...NOT friendly at all), but they just kept driving around saying it was backed up..sometimes 2-3 groups on a hole. They even stacked us up at Hole 1, saying there were already 2 groups on 2, etc...so we didn't take off until about 15 minutes after our tee time. But the course is pretty, challenging and has alot of bunkers. Hopefully you knew that. I didn't want to jinx it because I was in no bunkers on the front 9, but then I said something (my bad), and basically played out of bunkers on the back! oh well. We actually didn't eat at the restaurant, and I wanted to, but the Pro Shop was off putting (maybe because we had a deal?), and then at the end, there are cart/bag folks there, but no one volunteered to take our bags up, or even came to our cart to help offload, AND they wouldn't let us drive up the hill to put the bags in the cart...pretty bad service. So we opted to leave. I came in thinking it would be more of a "Club" atmosphere, but I didn't feel that way when I left. We did get paired up with a couple nice guys, one was a member there, and he was helpful to have on the holes for tips to play!

Good course, pretty short though

I had never been here before, but my partners suggested it, and I found a killer deal on GolfNow. SO we went. The course was pretty mucky in places, but it has been raining here. The day was sunny and a little cold, but not bad. I was surprised at the niceness of the clubhouse and the food was very, very good, after the round. Drinks at the turn were strong and we were 4 happy golfers. Casual dress keeps it low key and I would not hesitate to play here again, altho I looked at the summer rates and they want $29 (!!) for a power cart...that's nuts! And $37 for a round on the weekend is way too steep for this course. SO I guess I would not pay to play here in summer.

Horrid pace of play- all crammed together...

So I played twice while in town for a week of business. The first course was not Saddlebrook, was 1/2 the price, way better grounds and way better staff. This course was not in very good shape- a lot if soft spots and wet ground even though there was no rain the week I was there. I was playing as a single and they got me right out, but then there was 4 some after 4 some stacked up 2 groups to a tee box sometimes. Several let me play through, luckily, but then 1 group of 4 ladies would not. They took there time with one of them looking for balls ALOT just because... Not her errant shot. No Marshall around , the beverage cart girl cost me 4 bucks for a diet coke ($5 with the tip), and the pro shop guy was put out to get me going. The starter was very pleasant and the sole reason this course got 2 stars overall. otherwise I'd give it one. At least the GolfNow price was better. I'd be angry if I'd paid full price , but I still paid about 50 bucks too much. Much better courses out there!

Excellent round- pace was awesome!!

I was in Florida on business for a week and had some time to play 2 rounds during that time! This course was 1/2 cost wise, far better course conditions, superior staff and better centrally located to tampa than the other course. I would play here again in a heartbeat! Fantastic weather was a bonus!!

Another great round, great price on GN!

We try to play here a few times a year...usually a weekend golf jaunt. We played here on the way home from Canyon Lakes. The deal we got on GN was spectactular...$39PP including cart! Apple Tree is overpriced if you pay full price/non resident there, but with the deal, it's a great course. The signature hole is the APPLE green, of course, and is just perfect.

I made a hole in one!

So this is the revamped and much improved old Carnation course- which wasn't really a course. Now, they have added a very nice clubhouse with a large deck, and best if all really spent time on the course itself... And it shows. Yes I did actually have a hole in one on #15, but I would still be really happy. Our round was 3.5 hours, greens here are FAST, and fairways are pretty generous on most holes. The restaurant has some great food, although most of the staff is quite young and it shows. But it's a small town and I don't mind... Just know they are growing up! Really reasonable. Enjoy

Can't wait to get back there again!

Bday outing for my husband- included an overnight at the Chrysalis-- also amazing, but I digress! We arrived at out tee time and the weather was so bad-- rain, wind-- but the report said good weather was coming. I asked if there was anyway to bump up our tee time till noon, and the guy at the desk took a look in his computer and said no problem, come back around noonish. He put us in for 1228 I think. Very nice! . We went and looked around town, went into pro-golf, got coffee, and the skies had indeed cleared! We went back and got right on...I'm sure the weather had a lot to do with it, but by 2p, the sun was out! Considering how much it had POURED the previous two days the course was in GREAT shape! Pace of play was good... I graded it down a star because some guy cut in front on theback nine-- no we didn't stop to eat or anything- he showed up outta nowhere and sez oh sorry they put me on the back 9. Well, 4 holes later he disappears and we watch him walk to his house with his clubs and go inside- yeah, we see where you live, loser-just a jerk for no reason, or feels entitled to do what he wants because he lives there... Anyways, I hate liars and cheaters-- he is both and probably a sandbagger to boot! Ha. Oh we'll. we finished a great round, great course, and are planning to come back soon even though its a bit of a trek for us! Go! You will be pleasantly happy!

Good golfing if you can get a deal

We were able to get a day of tee time here on golf now.com-- what a great deal at 42% off! We got a great morning tee time and headed out...check in was great- staff was prompt and attentive. Pro shop nothing special but their large resort towel is beautiful and I bought three as gifts!
The course is gorgeous, of course ,with stunning views. My only complaint is the pace of play-- and no Marshall to keep it on task. The foursome in front of us never once played ready golf and we waited every time. I'm all for the aloha spirit, but 28 mins behind when there was no one in front of them is not good etiquette !
