Slammer and Squire Golf Course at World Golf Village
Played On 10/17/2017Very nice course conditionsT
This is definitely a very nice course . However, the regular price of $95 is a little too high for my tastes. With a Hotdeal from Golfnow.com, I got on for $35. The staff was friendly, the course conditions were very good, and had it not been for the wet conditions that caused us to use "cart path only", this would have been perfect. Great resort next door, too.
Palm Beach National Golf Course
Played On 12/16/2014Nice course, nice price, friendly staff
Several interesting holes. But, the majority of the course is fairly easy. A few water holes. Fortunately, I was hitting the ball well that day and missed the water. The staff was very friendly, from the pro shop guys to the starter, to the cart guy. Very helpful. The clubhouse is a very interesting, vintage clubhouse. Similar to Bushwood in Caddy Shack! The greens were moderately fast and in good shape. No beverage cart on the afternoon that I played. Oh well. Anyway, a nice course for the price.
Indigo Lakes Golf Club
Played On 05/05/2014An excellent course with plenty of character
I have heard of this course for years. But, never had a chance to play it, OR, never gave it a chance. I had read several reviews over the years, saying how it had gone down hill. Well the past few months, the new management has made a difference, at least in the responses on the reviews. So, I decided to give it a try. I was a very nice surprise. Most of the fairways are tree lined. The few holes that run parallel to the interstate are really thick in trees. However, there is ample room for wayward drivers (like me). I was paired up with a couple of friendly locals, that had played the course a few times. They were not only helpful, but also said that the course is a lot better than it was in years past. The greens were a good speed (I'd say 9-10 on the stimp). We played from the whites, which offered some pretty long par 4's. Also, the par 5's were easily reached in 3 shots with my short drives. The par threes mostly played over water were a little tougher, and if the wind is blowing could be pretty hard to pick the right club. Overall, a great challenge and in good shape. Oh, and the staff there were very helpful and friendly. I give it 5 stars.
Links of Spruce Creek South
Played On 04/11/2014Nice course for the price.
In the shadows of all the great courses at the Villages, The Links at Spruce Creek is a welcome, laid-back course. There are some unique holes, with character. particularly number 4 and number 6. The back nine seems in a little better shape. Overall, a good value.
Continental Country Club
Played On 03/16/2014Surprisingly good for a rural country club
A very nice experience. Unfortunately, no fault of theirs, I was paired up with a couple of jerks. They had their little money game going. So, I felt like the odd wheel. The course is pretty narrow, but, not real long. Three sets of tees. There was some sprinkler construction on few holes. The greens were pretty fast, but have some damage. Real "old Florida" course. Large oaks line the fairways. Golfnow "hot deal" made it worth it.
The Plantation Golf Club - Otter Creek Course
Played On 03/08/2014Short, but difficult course. Very tight on some holes
This is definitely a course where you need to leave the driver in the bag on a lot of holes. I enjoyed the scenery, as it is a very beautiful course. #12 thru 15 are very pretty, in the woods. Unfortunately, so was my tee shot on two of these. There is not much room for error. All I have to say is, "you better bring your A game". I will definitely go back to see if I can score a little better next time. Several sets of tees. The senior tees are definitely shorter and make the course playable for the senior residents. The back tees are plenty, even for an advanced player.
Arlington Ridge Golf Club
Played On 02/28/2014Very nice course, great layout
This course is well-kept, and feels like a resort course. Several sets of tees for every level of golfer. Some average holes and some unique holes mixed in. Good service and some good deals occasionally. Great practice facility. Sometimes a two-club wind on the open holes.
Rolling Oaks at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 9/9/2012Out of the way, but worth the drive
This Tom Fazio design is just as beautiful as the Pine Barrens course. It will remind you of a north Georgia or North Carolina course. Large oak trees on nearly every hole. Also, large bunkering. One of the prettiest courses in the area.
Twisted Oaks Golf Club
Played On 8/16/2012Nice course in the middle of Citrus County
Several tee boxes make this course a value for players of all skill levels. A few holes have out-of-bounds close to the sides and you don't realize it until it's too late. Some pretty holes. Nice layout. Usually good shape for the money.
