Mercer Oaks Golf Course - West Course
Played On 07/08/2022Course needs water stations
This course is good but somebody is literally going to die because the county got cheap as does not put water stations out on the course. It’s horrible, more concerned about the money than golfer safety in the summer.
The course is fun to play moves pretty good !
Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort
Played On 07/04/2020Scenic course-play off hours because it is $$$$
This is my rotation of courses to play on HHI. It has some great shot making holes including a 180 par three all carry over water with a skinny green . A signature hole that takes you out to the ocean and a finishing hole that is a lot of fun.
Fairways for the most part are very generous and so are the greens
Try to play after 11 or in the afternoon as the morning rate is expensive but you must give this track a chance
Oyster Reef Golf Course
Played On 07/04/2020will go back
First time playing here, loved the layout. lots of dog legs both right and left, makes this a shot maker course. Par 3s over water and if you miss greens in some spots you will get hard bounces.
ONLY critique is two greens had patches of repaired greens.
Fairways were awesome and well maintained greens rolled consistently for sure
A fair course for sure
The Dunes At Maui Lani Golf Course
Played On 10/10/2018good course fairways need help
The course is fun. The front 9 has some tight driving holes.
The back has some fun driving holes especially #10 where a good tee shot rolls down hill forever!!
Bad things
Fairways were very thin, and brown. I thought perhaps the grass in the area had gone dormant, but I played another course and that was not the case.
Secondly they had just aerated and the greens were like sandpaper with the sand.
The views are awesome, you see the backdrops of the Hawaiian mountains.
Would like to play again mid summer when the fairways are lush.
The roughs are tough as the ball does sink down.

This is a good couse in horrible shape!!! First hole green is a disaster.left side first fairway HUgE mud patch. All along the course fairways ripped up and muddy. Tee boxes too stink
Hole 3 left side green side bunker another huge ripped up spot.
They need to get out there clean up re-seed or sod. Quite frankly right now the place is a hole in the wall

I am writing this review to let people know that there are two driving ranges there, one grass one matt. They don't have the grass open regularly, and as a matter of fact it seems like it has been closed for over a month and I was told don't expect it to be open the rest of he year.
I have gone there on schedule grass days to find out it is closed and was told I should have called ahead as they update the voice mail under current course conditions. Well the next time Incalled no mention got there grass closed.
This is unacceptable to have sporatic practice areas
It puts a damper
Royce Brook Golf Club - West Golf Course
Played On 08/26/2017Good course
First time playing the course. I will start off with the negatives.
1. Matts for the driving range-YUK this type of place needs grass.
2. Putting green no flags, you can't see the holes.
3. When we went to play they put the wrong score cards on the card, gave me the wrong card, so we had no idea of yardages etc, and there is NO starter there.
4. At the half way about 1040 went to get something to eat at their grill, nothing was ready, the guy told me 5 minutes, and this was on a Saturday, come on now.
The positive, the course is in great shape.
The greens were soft, and rolled, not fast but true.
Fairways in good shape as well.
No spectacular holes. Nothing that I could say well you have to see hole # it has a great view etc.
It was a good track, not sure I would go back for the money
Mercer Oaks Golf Course - West Course
Played On 07/15/2017a good track in good shape
The course was wet today as it rained all day yesterday so it was little mushy. However, there was No standing water in bunkers.
The fairways are in great shape. The greens are terrific as they aerated about a month ago and are rolling very true.
If you want to use the GRASS driving range it is NOT open every day.
The course is walkable if you like to walk
Oyster Reef Golf Course
Played On 06/22/2017a good track in good shape
first time playing here. It was in great shape except one green had a spot about 4ft wide that had been replaced, which I had to putt over. Fairways in a great shape. Greens on the front rolled great. On the back they were sandy due to aeration.
No blind shots for the most part pretty straight forward. Some good par 3s, one that takes you out to the water and another that is all carry.
Lot of bunkers protecting the greens so go long
I did Golf Now and it was $50+ will play again
Thank you for choosing Oyster Reef. We apologize for that patch on the green. That was an area where a tree had fallen during hurricane Mathew and we had to make a repair. now that we have verti-cut the greens that spot will no longer be visible. We hope to see you again in the future.
Hilton Head National Golf Club
Played On 06/20/2017Average course
The course is in good shape. Fairways are excellent, not chewed up, greens rolled well too. Play was not rapid but that was due the people I was playing with.
I did not find the course overly exciting. Kind of blah to be honest. For the money play Oyster Reef.
Probably would not go back
Arthur Hills at Palmetto Hall Plantation
Played On 06/18/2017shot makers delight
One of my favorite courses on HHI. It is a shot makers course. On many holes you need to have your tee shot be in a certain position or you will be in jail. It also means you are not always hitting driver. Hole #2 don't hit driver. Hole #17 don't hit driver just get it to the right spot..
Such great character to the course and a lot of fun.
The greens look like the need some help some brown patches. One green in particular I want to say #4 or #5 seems like every time I have played it has in the front of the green areas that are chewed up.
Don't let that stop you, if you are not scared by the price then make a trip.
Mercer Oaks Golf Course - West Course
Played On 05/19/2017home course
this is my home course but being objective.
Today the greens actually rolled like putting greens. 3 weeks ago after aeration they rolled like sandpaper.
Course played in 4 1/4 hours on a Friday could have played faster but the people in my group...
If you have never played here, it is a good track for a municipal course.
Hole #3 is sneaky long unless you can draw the ball.
Hole #4 is a short par 5 if you can fade it.
Hole #9 is the hole most golfers will tell you they hate.
Hole #17 is a great hole-choose club off the tee wisely or your first shot will be wet.
The fairways have tight lights. They should let the grass grow a little longer. Bunkers are good for a muni course as well.
No blind shots pretty straight forward with only tee shot on #9 and #17 you need to choose wisely based upon what tee boxes you are hitting from and your length
