The fairways were beautiful, rough was very unforgiving putting an emphasis on accuracy off the tee. I really liked that, the greens were terrible. Several large dead patches, no one apparently fixes their divots on this course. The layout was great, overall if the greens were in better shape I would think the price would be acceptable. As it is, I don’t think it’s worth the price.

Having grown up in this area, we have played this course dozens of times. This was our first time playing it in years and it was the worst condition we have ever seen it. It was remarkably bad, there was trash littered all over the course. Bunker had no sand, just thick Georgia clay. the greens were unputtable on some holes, and the course looked totally in cared for. The nicest thing at the entire facility was there new(ish) beer cooler. Who ever is in charge needs to be relieved of their duties. I would recommend spending the additional $5 elsewhere and play on an actual golf course, not your neighbors uncut backyard.

Beautiful course and views. Overall in good condition, only complaint was the greens. They were impossible to control spin on approach shots because they were so firm.

The course was in outstanding condition, if you are a novice golfer then it is the perfect course for you. Very open with little water so it is easy to find errant shots.

Sapelo Hammock Golf Club
Played On 6/8/2013New Ownership changes everything
From the new owner, GM and Head Groundskeeper this course is in much better shape now. The tee boxes were immaculate. The fairways were perfect and there was a clear cut difference between the roughs. The greens were perfect, there were no dry patches and no discoloration. The overall difficulty of the course depends on which tees you play. Because of the layout of some holes they can play shorter than the scorecard or much longer. #9 par 5 plays like a 3 shot par 5 because of the tree line blocking the dog-leg left. Overall I was very satisfied with the course, price and staff at Sapelo Hammock.
