I am sure course was one of the best when it opened. Years of neglect (sand traps, cart paths etc) are starting to take there toll.

Played this course earlier in the week and the greens were shaggy but today they were very good. This course is worth your time to play.

Carolina National Golf Club - Egret Nine
Played On 04/14/2018Can Be a Good Experience
Arrived early afternoon for our tee time and found the course very busy. Found the staff very friendly and engaging. Club house was very nice and clean but found it strange that a permanent sign indicated the bar closed at 6:00. While waiting for our tee time we wanted to putt but putting green was closed and as we soon found out that ALL greens were lost and there was no grass on the putting surfaces. We had played 4 other courses during the week and Carolina National had the worst greens. We were assigned to play the Herron and Egret courses. Fairways were ok but the Bermuda had not come in yet. Bunkers were in good shape. Once you got past the starter there was no course marshal to monitor play or to move you to a open nine at the turn. It took us 5.5 hours to play 18 due to slow play in front of us. If you are a hacker and can't hit the ball more than 50 yards at a time or keep the ball within reasonable boundaries of the fairway this course is NOT for you. The multiple tee box options make the challenges of each hole acceptable for the average or experienced golfer. It was in the low 80's the day we played and some of the water stations on the course were empty. We attempted to get something to drink from the snack bar at the turn but it was closed which again seemed unusual for a course like this. Once we finally finished our round it was like a ghost town around the club house. Very few vehicles in the parking lot, appeared to be no activity in the club house and the only staff visible were the ones receiving carts at the bag drop area.
In the current condition this course is not worth the $45 to $69 green fee. We would like to play again if the greens are able to be restored and the fairways come in but would suggest you call ahead to verify. It is a long drive from Myrtle Beach to play this course in its current condition.
