Creek/Oaks at Temecula Creek Inn Golf Resort
Played On 10/04/2020Return to the Creek & the Blue Pig
First visit back since the course was dropped from our SCGA club’s rotation. With the exception of one young gentleman filling in for a couple minutes for the excellent, mature starter the staff is superb. Even with COVID-related limitations they we friendly and helpful. I’m also taking pandemic-related challenges to the course so ignoring the uneven bunker conditions in light of really good, smooth greens that had reasonable pace with challenging positions. GolfNow provided easy booking with reasonable rate and we will play this tract again (and hopefully bring our club back as well).

First visit to a newer course that's part of a new upper-middle class housing area. Some issues kept it from being an outstanding day for the spouse and myself. Directions to and driving to the course were not good. Once there we found a modern facility that's more about golf than the opulent "sister" course just south. Best by far were the experienced marshals that make sure you have everything you need and provide an excellent, knowledgeable special touch. Sadly when the course was booked and we followed up via phone no one advised us to make sure our golf watches were updated as the course is very new - this caused issues and some slow play as we had no idea what was going on during the front nine, A purchase of a course book at the turn helped, but this should have been recommended when we checked in. There are surprises you can't see from every tee box. Also at the turn is when we found out that food preparation is slow and they don't deliver on the course AND that sandwiches and hot-dogs where on the beverage cart - if we knew that we would have saved allot of time at the turn. So from a staff standpoint, get the Marshal's to train everyone else in common sense and golf hospitality and you've got something special. The course was fun, once you had a course book in hand. If you miss fairways - don't play here - the tract is suited to better players. The course was green and lush and while the greens LOOK fast, they are medium in speed. The practice putting surface is faster - get the stempmeter numbers up and it will really be great. I was annoyed mid-round and after time to reflect on the day I think I'll be back, with a updated watch, ready to give the course and its staff another shot. now to convince the wife of the same!
