Waterloo Golf Academy
Played On 07/17/2016A beginner's course
Waterloo Golf Academy is a good little track for beginner golfers or someone teaching a beginner golfer. The driving range and chipping area has always been a plus for this little course however the t deck for the driving ranged looked like it hadn't been moved in almost a week. Not much grass in each box. The greens were in good shape but were really slow. Management made it obvious that they were trying to save greens by keeping them long through current dry spell. Fairways were also very dry. All bunkers were hard packed. You couldn't even rake them. The third hole (par 3) was missing red, white and black tee blocks. The 8th hole was missing yellow tee blocks. This is a low level Golf North Course that spends little money in it's upkeep.
Raceway Golf Club

For first timers you need someone with you to adivse where hazards like ditches that cross the fairway are. You cannot see them nor are they identified on scorecard maps. Greens are extremely large and contain multi tiers but some have silly mounds that make it impossible to get close to pins on approach shots. The bunkers are not bunkers. They are gravel pits and I do mean crushed gravel. The 6th hole is a silly par 5 that is U shaped. Your t shot will run severely left and away from your next shot. You have to land a perfect 2nd shot to have any chance of crossing a pond to an elevated green. Multi digit scores will face you if you don't play 3 perfect shots in a row.
Grey Silo Golf Course
Played On 06/17/2016Great Course on a Sunny Day
Club selection has always been a challenge and each and every hole brings this challenge into play. Elevated, undulating greens makes it tough to get the ball close to pin placements and if you don't you are faced with speed puts that break all day long. The greens are in great condition and the speed was consistent from hole 1 to 18. The only concerns I had were the rough is not evenly cut. It appears the mower driver goes to fast and misses spots. The bunkers are not consistent from hole to hole either, but you're not suppose to be in them anyways.
Whenever I want to see how my game is I golf Grey Silo and I'll be back.
Foxwood Golf Club - White Course
Played On 07/05/2015A Good Course heading south
This course is becoming what is known as "typical Golf North" course. Greens are inconsistent in speed from one nine to the next and green firmness is different from one green to the next. Typical public course greens, no one repairs ball marks (I was fixing 2 to three every hole) sand traps not raked. Bunkers are not consistent with the amount of sand in them. One has 2" of new sand, the next right beside it has 1/4". Fairways are inconsistent in length. Some look like the mower was set at rough height. Tee boxes are not level and it looked like the blocks hadn't been moved in 2 to three days. It's a shame because Foxwood could be a very good course. We wanted to eat dinner at the club house. They were out of chicken fingers (twice this has happened this year) and they had no hamburgers on the menu. To bad actually because they lost 2 food and drink orders. We went for Chinese food.
But how was the Chinese food?
RiverEdge Golf Club
Played On 9/6/2013A hidden gem in KW area
Before you even pull up to the club house you will be struck with an awesome view of the entire course. But it doesn't end there. Each hole is unique, nestled in a valley along the Grand River. Although only a 9 hole course it can become quite interesting if you play Blue - White combo. This way the second nine is totally different than the front nine. Example is the sixth hole par three, from the whites 150 yrs, from the blues 213. The course conditions were great yesterday considering it is near season end. the greens fast and tricky to read as the break looks worse than actual. As you travel along the course, take time to look at the nature. A large variety of birds, crystal clear ponds with bass and carp. We even saw some new born turtles that were digging their way out of a nest in one of the bunkers. I wish I had my camera. Even though River Edge is a Golf North property the management appears to be spending money on the course to keep it maintained. I will play here again for sure.
Rebel Creek Golf Club
Played On 7/12/2013More courses should have Blue/Gold Tee Combo. I love the set up.
The only reason I didn't score this course today as pristine was because of the greens and fairway divots. It's not the green's keeper's fault, it's the public. Too many un-repaired ball marks and divot's. I was fixing 3 to 4 ball marks per green, and the same amount of adding provided divot sand and seed on the fairways, not including my own.
Anytime the wind is over 10mph, the difficulty jumps out at you. You have to be aware of it every shot because what you feel at your ball is not the same 60 feet in the air.
The greens run true, but they are very fast compared to other courses in the area.
I love Rebel Creek and always look forward to playing there.
