West at Woodlands Country Club
Played On 09/07/2019ALL THINGS CONSIDERED...
Considering the fact that it's summer and ownership is in negotiations with a developer to convert the two courses into 500 new homes, the courses (west, at least) are being maintained in relatively good condition The greens--except for the practice putting green--are in decent shape, although hardly in competition condition. Due to abundant rain, the fairways are in roll-the-ball-over condition rather than play-it-as-it-lies condition. This condition is far better than most public-play courses in the area at this time. Summer staffing of lower-level support positions has the positions filled by non-golfers and others who have little exposure to the niceties of country club service policies. The bunkers need work, which is not unusual. Feedback from several sources indicates that carts are in some state of disrepair, however our cart performed its duty as expected. It appears that ClubLink is fulfilling its responsibility at a time and under circumstances where other facilities have allowed their properties to deteriorate. All in all, at summer rates at least, golf at the Woodlands is above average for this time of year. Incidentally, I live in this development in a home on the east course.
