The Club at Pelican Bay - North Course
Played On 03/01/2022Why is this place even open?
The golf course is flat out gone. Tee boxes and greens are a little bit recognizable as such. If they closed for good last summer it would look just about as it does today. If you are an avid golfer, do yourself a favor and go bowling instead.
New Smyrna Golf Club
Played On 02/27/2022Best greens for 50 miles.
This isone of the last designs from Golden Age architect Donald Ross. The greens are reminiscent of Pinehurst No. 2, very fast with lots of movement. Conditioning is better than any daily fee course in 3 counties and on par with most private country clubs. But the real star is the exquisite routing. May be the best muni layout in the state. If you are in the area don't miss it. If you have to travel awhile to get there you won't be disappointed.
Black River Country Club
Played On 10/01/2019One of the best public courses in Metro Detroit area
WAY UNDER-PRICED
Needs around 300 trees removed,
But, canopy has been raised and trimmed.
A golden age private club that has been public for many years.
Hosted many Michigan Opens.
Greystone Golf Club
Played On 07/10/2019Vastly Overated
This course has quite possibly the worst two finishing holes in all of golf. Seems they ran out of suitable land for golf.
Rattle Run Golf Course
Played On 10/02/2018Awful Design
This course was designed by the original owner that had little knowledge of golf architecture. The results reflect this novice approach. At lease two holes that are completely unplayable. Go to a driving range for a much more worthwhile outing.
Sounds like someone wasn’t playing very good that day
Rattle Run Golf Course
Played On 07/12/2018Miserable
Awful design.
Goofy routing.
Some of the worst holes in the state.
Those are probably my favorite two holes on the course and the finishing 3 holes are one of my favorite series of 3 holes in Michigan. 17 and 18 are fantastic golf holes.
