Hard Rock Golf Club Riviera Maya
Played On 10/12/2019Not Worth the money they charge
Been in the Playa Del Carmen area for almost two weeks and this is one or four courses I've played. I'd rank it 2 out of the 4 - For the amount of money they charge you to play here, * I used a hot deal tee time with a discount code and still payed over $110 * you'd think that the employees would be very welcoming. I'm from out of town and didn't bring my clubs, so had to rent. The best clubs that they had to offer were a very old set of Cobras. The issue that I have with that is the 4 iron head popped right off the first time I pulled it out of the bag, and the 6 iron had it's logo on the heel of the club hot glued back on. The course wasn't in as good of shape as I'd assumed it would be in. Range balls were included with the round, but when I mentioned hitting some balls, they gave me about 20 in a tiny bucket and had me walk to the range, they wouldn't let me take the cart for some reason. drinks and snacks were free, light Mexican beers and peanuts and chips. If you're in the area and looking for a great course to play for the same or less money, please look into the Gran Coyote. it's just north of Playa Del Carmen, and so much better!
Stumpy Lake Golf Course
Played On 02/15/2019Winter Conditions
Course is still recovering from an east coast winter. Grass is thin throughout and non existent on most tee boxes. All around the greens is basically hitting off of mud *ON ALL HOLES* The sand traps were actually is phenomenal condition compared to everything else. I'll give it a few weeks before trying to play here again.

Best public course in the area. Very well maintained. Great layout. This is a regular course for me.
Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia
Played On 11/20/2015Great course, No yardage markers. Quick Greens
Very nice course, unlike other courses nearby, range balls weren't included in my round. I had to pay $4 for 15-20 balls. The course itself was great. Fast greens. Bring a GPS and be ready to think your way around the course.
Wigwam Resort - Red Course
Played On 11/19/2015Great course, No yardage markers. Quick Greens
I'll start off with the minimal negatives. First off, the address I got off of GolfNow got me close but not directly to the clubhouse. Once I was able to locate the clubhouse, drop off my bags, and drive back across the street and park, I was welcomed by employees in the pro shop who were helpful and informational. You get unlimited range balls when you play a round. The first hole of Heritage is about a 5 min cart ride from the pro shop. They have alot of construction going on. There's no yardage markers on the course, so make sure you have some sort of GPS. The greens run quick.
Westbrook Village Golf Club - Vistas Course
Played On 11/16/2015Great course on a cold day
Grass only driving range, unlimited range balls when you play a round. There was very few people on the course because of the cold weather, so it made for a quick 18. Not playing with anyone who had played this course before made it slightly more challenging than it should've been. Great condition, greens weren't super fast, so i was able to get nice rolling putts. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a nice round.
San Vicente Golf Resort
Played On 6/9/2013One of my new FAVORITE courses!!
To start off, I played on a sunday and tee'd off at 10:45am. The pace of play could've been a little faster but there was a tournament that started early, they were playing best ball so it wasnt TOO BAD. The course was taken care of pretty well, the greens rolled nice and there was a plethora of different 'types' of holes. ( Long and strait, uphill, downhill, dogleg left , dogleg right over water, etc...) The course was very forgiving yet challenging enough to keep you interested! I'll definately be going back sooner than later.
Greens were decetnt, as were the fairways
I'm personally not a big fan of golf courses that are completely surrounded by houses on every hole, the course it'self wasnt bad though, the pace of play was unbearably slow that day, which i've heard it's not always like that. i'll be going back to try it one more time just to be certain. I'd bet that if you played during the week it'd be fine.
Mission Trails Golf Course
Played On 6/6/2013Great Value for the money
This course has a lot of altitude changes, especially on the front 9.
There are parts of this course that need attention, especially just off the fairway, some of the fairways need a little water, but overall the course is a good play. The greens were looking really nice! Def a good value for the money.
Carlton Oaks Lodge & Country Club
Played On 5/23/2013Great potential...
We will start from the beginning, pulling up into the parking lot, i see no signs stating where the clubhouse may be located. Its usually something that strait forward, but with 'hotel type rooms' all around it wasn't obvious. Anyways, $5 dollars for about 30 balls at the range....? OKay, now i'm hoping that the course makes up for it. i played at 3PM on a thursday and it cost me 30 bucks....The fairways are okay, sand (which is in abundance) is disguisting in most areas, and the areas its not is rock hard. The greens which claim to be in 'perfect condition' were extremely dry and not near 'perfect'. the entire course has spots that needed to be mowed, a patch here, patch there.
Mt. Woodson Golf Club
Played On 5/19/2013Very good deal for the Price, I played at 2pm for 19.99.
Narrow fairways and potentially deep sand traps, thick vegetation on both sides, stay straight, or bring plenty of balls. The Greens were amazing speed. The major problem i have with this course is there is NO DRIVING RANGE! They have two nets set up you can go swing your irons into off of a mat, but no way to swing your long clubs. I will be playing here again because of how challenging the course is. It's not too hard to play, but it does make sure that you are keeping your game in check. Great Value.
Steele Canyon Golf Club - Canyon/Ranch
Played On 5/17/2013Costly, but worth it on certain occasions.
Very nice, challenging course. I'd never play at the prices that they charge. The only way i'll be back is if i find another discounted price at $40 or below.
