Harbor Links at Sagamore Resort
Played On 09/08/2015Golf Right Near Brookville Lake
We have played Harbor Links at Sagamore Resort at least twice a summer since it's inception. The course used to be just OK under previous management and the name Buck Point. Now Harbor Links is maturing beautifully. P.B. Dye designed a challenging 18 holes that meander through the woods and along the shores of Brookville Lake. It is about a 45 minute drive from Cincinnati if you know the proper way to go (Cincinnati Brookville Road through Ross). The fairways, rough, and greens are all growing well and Kent's Harbor is really maintaining it as a "resort" course for Sagamore. What a place to play! Highly recommend if you have never driven there, it is well worth the trip.
Greensburg Country Club
Played On 06/11/2015Best Private to Public Course
Played Greensburg CC on June 11, 2015. I would first off like to thank whomever decided to make this private course open to the public. This is hands down the best semi private CC I have ever played. Conditions were beautiful, greens, fairways, rough all perfect. The course offers up some difficult shots as well as some confidence builders. The 225 yard second hole par 3 is a true test of target golf with the green not being more than at least 20 yards across, maybe less, tough hole. The front is pretty wide open with lots of smallish greens to hit while the back is somewhat tight and a little tougher with enormous undulating greens. Thankfully the greens are extremely receptive. What a nice course 45 minutes straight up I-74 from my home in Cincinnati. I may play this course 10 times this summer. Cannot beat the price.
Liberty Country Club
Played On 05/19/2015Worst Course Ever
This is hands down the worst golf course I have ever played in my 30 years of playing golf. It is the only time I have ever said to my father on the 14th tee, "I want my money back". Driving in the first tee box we saw should have said it all, the par 3 3rd. There was barely any grass on the tee, it was half brown, and the weeds that were growing on it looked like my yard when the landscapers have missed a week. The greens were the slowest I have ever seen, I might as well of been putting in the rough. The pin placements were borderline unfair on the extremely slow, undulating greens. Whoever gave this course a good review must have never played anywhere besides Liberty, IN. To top it off we didn't even get to play the whole course because the two fivesomes wearing jeans in front of us said "sorry but we don't want to let you play through." What a joke. Horrible round that if I hadn't booked a hot deal on golfnow I would've walked into the pro shop and asked for my money back. $25 is a rip off for this course as well as the drive from Cincinnati, I will definitely not be going anywhere near Liberty, IN ever again as this course has left a bad reflection upon me.
Old Silo Golf Club
Played On 06/19/2014Great golf course
I played Old Silo on June 19, 2014. I went there based on the boast of #1 public course in Kentucky and the great rates offered. It is a 2 hour drive from my home in Cincinnati and it was extremely worth the drive. Practice facilities were very nice, very friendly welcome from pro shop staff. From the first tee on the course was beautiful (layout, conditions, scenery). Just an all around great course. I will return, maybe this week, I will always take a drive for a good round of golf.
Heatherwoode Golf Club
Played On 05/20/2014Great golf course
Played Heatherwoode on May 20, 2014. The drive was very easy from west Cincinnati, 75 north to Middletown exit and then 3 turns. When we arrived we were greeted by staff outside and in the shop and the facilities (range, banquet, shop, etc) were all very nice. Got out quickly and starter was right on time with tees. From start to finish just an enjoyable round of golf. When you hit the ball in the rough it's a penalty. Lush tees, fairways, greens, and rough, make it a better round of golf. Greens were quick and true. Will definitely return multiple times this season.
Aston Oaks Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2014Aston Oaks Has Arrived
I've been playing Aston Oaks Golf Club since its inception in 2000. It has always been a nice enough course with minor issues. We have played there twice this year so far. It is in the best condition it has ever been in. Almost every tee box, fairway, and green is in incredible condition(a few areas are ok, but not bad by any means). The beauty of this course has always been prominent(views, trees, layout, challenge), but now the course has matured and could rival any of the best public courses in Cincinnati. If you're near river rd. and shady lane in three rivers check out this West Side gem of a golf course.
The Fort Golf Resort
Played On 10/8/2013Great Pete Dye design
Played The Fort on October 8, 2013. It had rained the days before so the course was super soft. The course had a state park feel to it and lucky for Indy it was designed by a master. What a deal. $45 on golf now, can't beat that, course is worth much more. Drove an hour and a half to get there but will definitely make that drive again.
The Grizzly Golf & Social Lodge - Grizzly Course
Played On 9/30/2013Odd layout
I remember playing and going to this course years ago when the Kroger championship was there. Haven't been there in years but they must be spending their money on tennis cause this course was strangely laid out and in bad shape. I won't be returning anytime soon.
Royal Hylands Golf Club
Played On 9/16/2013Beautiful
The Royal Hylands was immaculate. Tough drive from cincinnati but entirely worth it. The fairways, greens, rough, everything, simply beautiful. Staff was great. Will come back when I feel like making the trip again.
Todd Creek Golf Club
Played On 6/19/2013Great Course
Played The Heritage at Todd Creek on June 19, 2013. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed by an exceptional staff member. The course was beautifully kept on all 18 holes from tee to green. No worn areas, just lush grass. Challenging long tees, I played blue. Great Course, if I return to the area in the future I will definitely be back.
Deer Run Country Club
Played On 5/13/2013Shortish but challenging
Deer Run is a nice golf course. Not too long but still challenging with corners and trees. Played on May 13,2013 and it was a bit choppy. Couldn't find a good lie and greens weren't smooth. Won't hold it against them, still nice but could use some work.
Snow Hill Country Club
Played On 3/12/2013wet when we played but greatly taken care of
This course was so nice in the cold and wet. I can't wait to play when it is green and grown in. Fairways were great, greens were so difficult but receptive. I will return and enjoy this course when warmer. Staff made me want to.
Sounds like this player couldn't navigate the course and is taking out his frustrations on the course. I have player the course several times and this is an unfair rating. All course suffer some during the hot dry summer but this is a good golf course.
