Broadmoor Golf Links
Played On 08/24/2020Going downhill fast
I have heard good things about Broadmoor for years. So we finally drove 2 hours to play it. What a waste. Apparently the airport nearby just bought the course and who knows what they plan to do with it.
Course conditions were mediocre at best. Weeds and fungus all over the course from tees to greens. Way overbooked and pace of play was terrible. There was even a Starter and the pace was this bad. At one point there were 5 groups on the same hole. We quit after 12 holes.
Timberlake Country Club
Played On 07/04/2019Good course, but pro and managers are horrible
Played today, course semi crowded. A 5-some was holding up our group of three, another 3-some, and a twosome. We asked a course worker if they could go ask them if could play through, the fivesome said no its a holiday they can wait. At the turn we asked the pro and the managing partner if they could go talk to them. They refused and said it was a non issue. Each golfcart has a sign reminding groups to let faster groups play through so the course must know some golf etiquette, to bad they wont enforce it. Wont be back here.
The Windermere Club
Played On 06/21/2019Needs work
This course always goes up and down as far as condition goes. Right now it is down. Bunkers are horrible, liners exposed in most, others are more waste area than sand trap. Several greens have seen better days. For a country club it should not fluctuate this much in terms of condition.
Cobblestone Park Golf Club - Garnet Course
Played On 03/26/2018Nice course, but it has been better that this visit.
There was a board by first tee to let you know which pin location they were using that day. However, none of the carts had the map to show you where each pin location was referring to on the greens. Greens were very thin. Not much more than green dirt is several areas. Pace of play could have been better, but groups were just going off whenever they wanted to. No ranger/starter to ensure proper start which sets the tone for the entire rounds pace.
Club At Rawls Creek
Played On 03/17/2015Spend more to play a course worth playing
Green were all burnt and covered in weeds, not grass. Half the tee boxes were more like a sand trap then. Tee box. The fairways were nothing but weeds. On one hole the ranger told us not to drive on the par 3's, we were in the pine straw next to fairway, not on the actual fairway. So after he yelled at us, he drove down the entire fairway and right next to the green as he was continuing his rounds. So if you want so-so conditions and a staff that is rude for no reason, then by all means play Rawls Creek. But I will spend a few bucks more from now on and play a real golf course, not a weed pasture.
I don't know if it was the same group, but I was held up by a fivesome as well where they were trying to teach and young boy and a female, neither of whom appeared to be able to hit the ball 100 yards with any club. The lack of courtesy should be an embarrassment because everyone I encountered was friendly and welcoming, including staff and the member I played my first nine holes with. Course was in really good shape, although the greens could have been faster (not that they were bad, but I'm used to Bermuda having more pace than these). Unfortunately, this is the kind of attitude you sometimes find with a club that has members who look down on the fact the course has to have some public play to survive.
I'm looking forward to playing here again, but I fully understand your feelings.
