Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Oaks/Marsh Course

The only negative was that apparent residents jumped on the course ahead of us and slowed us down. We had an afternoon tee time and were concerned about finishing before it got too dark. There were marshals on the first nine (Creek), but none on the second nine (Oaks) and people jumped on to practice, hitting numerous balls on the holes, and we waited for them. Not good course management. But, we loved the layout and will return.

It is January in FL and there is strong demand for a reasonably priced course. The 7 minutes between tee times ensures a crowded round, and waiting on shots. The biggest negative is the slow speed of the greens - it was like they have not been cut in 2 days. Maybe it is their goal to have slow greens, but it was like putting on velcro, especially after playing at Sarasota National. The green were firm and the ball rolled true, but slow.

The greens were very slow. I believe that they were recently sanded, and have not been cut. But, they rolled true and were firm. Overall, the course is in great shape, and the course of play was OK with 7 minutes between tee times.

The course was in good shape, but they put too many people out on the course, required over 5 hours to complete, and had to wait on each shot. This really decreased from the pleasure of playing. Not to return again,
