Beckett Ridge Country Club
Played On 09/27/2020Beautiful course treated badly
Shame on the owners of this course. I've played it over the past 10 years. It used to be beautiful. Now is has fallen into disrepair. So called sand traps are bare earth and weeds. Speaking of weeks, check out the fairways... nice specimens that any botanist would love.
I understand new owners may be making changes. Here is hoping that is true. It's going to require quite an investment.
I won't play this course again unless it is an incredible deal... like $15. Otherwise, there are plenty of better courses in the area.
Having said all this, I'm rooting for the new owners to make this the premier course it could be.
Pipestone Golf Club
Played On 08/18/2014Always great
Pipestone is one of the premier courses in the Dayton area. Pricey unless you get a deal on GN...which I did. It was in excellent condition.
Stillwater Valley Golf Club at Versailles
Played On 07/04/2014Good value
Played first time on July 4th... course was full... pace of play very slow...no rangers... very nice conditions, well maintained, clean, pretty. Played the front 9 only. Holes fairly close together, but separated by trees. However, interference from golfers on other holes was frequent. Good value using Golf Now. Given the distance from Dayton, I would hesitate to drive the distance and pay the rack rate.
Reid Park Golf Club - North Course
Played On 8/17/2013South course OK only
South course is a lot of back and forth layout in which you are in contact with other players on other holes. Nothing special. Not much elevation changes. Fairways reasonable well kept. Greens ok. About average for the area. The North course is a star better with more distance between holes and elevation changes are challenging. Given the GolfNow discounts, a very good deal. I would not pay their normal rates.
Beckett Ridge Country Club
Played On 7/16/2013Good deal with GolfNow
BR is one of the best courses in the area. Challenging holes, nice scenery, excellent staff. While there are houses around the holes, they are not obtrusive. Upper end of the price range for the area. Course in good condition considering the current heat wave. Greens excellent.
A Good Course
Well maintained. I especially like that most of the holes are surrounded by trees and farmland... only a few had houses. Nice variation in holes. Some with significant elevation changes. Greens were in good shape. Fairways well kept. A bit pricey, but you can often find discounts on GolfNow that make this a very good value.
Hara Greens
Played On 6/7/2013Terrible condition.
This course is in terrible condition, but advertised as "The course features eighteen beautifully groomed holes, spread over 70 acres of lush woods and ponds."
Not so.
This is basically fallow land that has been converted to golf. The grass cover is typical farmland grasses including all types of weeds indigenous to Ohio. Fairways have been cut out by mowers. The fairway grass was about 2 inches high and clumpy. Your ball had an equal chance of landing in a tuft of grass or bare ground. The rough was just uncut knee length grass. Nearly impossible to find a lost ball in it. The ponds were stagnant pools of brown water. The greens were nearly unplayable. Extremely slow.. rough... diseased... dead portions. When checking in, I was told only the back 9 were open as there were problems with the greens on the front 9.
I gave it 1 star only because the system would not allow me to give it 0.
Madden Golf Course
Played On 5/20/2013Nice average course
Dayton muni course... about average overall... greens were well kept... fairways ok... most the par 4s are on the short side... significant elevation changes make some holes very interesting. Fairly tight layout in which you see the nearby holes and golfers. Adequate driving range with $4 buckets for warmup.
Kittyhawk Golf Center - Eagle Course
Played On 5/13/2013Nice muni course
I only play this course when I can get a good deal on GolfNow. At about $36 it is a bit pricey to me for a muni course. Well maintained. Spring conditions... lots of green grass. I've played it in the heat of the summer and it is not as green. Very flat... no elevation changes to speak of. Nicely maintained bunkers. Outdoor driving range is very nice and reasonable fee for buckets of balls. Easy course to walk. Holes are relatively close together. You can easily see the other holes and golfers, hence can feel crowded at times. I would rate this a 3.5 stars if it were possible in the GolfNow rating system.
Rollandia Golf Course
Played On 05/08/2013Ok, not great and not bad
Nice time of the year... everything is green... not dried out yet from summer heat. Greens a bit slow due to moisture and needing to be cut... but this is only an observation and not a complaint. Good course to walk. Recently, they have invested to make some improvements. Still need real sand in the bunkers rather than dirt. Have been missing sign posts at many holes for several years now. Good driving range both on mats and turf. As with many Par 3 courses, it is great for practicing your short game. Lot of weeds and trash grass.
Dales at Community Golf Course
Played On 4/23/2013B- overall... nice course... compact.. well kept... nothing special
Compact course close to downtown Dayton. Well maintained and friendly staff. There are actually two courses intermingled here... the "Hills" and the "Dales" courses. The Hills course comprises the "outer holes" and is hillier than the Dales course, which is the "inner holes". Trees dot the course. You can see all the most of the holes and other golfers from any given hole. I played in early Spring and the course was in excellent condition. Tends to be busy due to convenient location. It is a city of Dayton municipal course and, in my opinion, priced a bit high. This is typical of all the muni courses in the area. I play these courses when I can get a "deal" so as to make the value better.
Hello, jperrich and thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars. Beckett Ridge Country Club was closed in October of last year. A new owner purchased the course in March and reopened on Memorial weekend of this year. We have worked incredibly hard to bring the golf course back from being closed completely for over 8 months to where it is today. We hope you'll bear with us through this transition and give us another try in the near future. Thanks for choosing Beckett Ridge Golf Club.
