CDA National Reserve
Played On 07/08/2018What can you say but "perfection"
No other course compares with Rock Creek. Perfect greens, balls sit up in the fairway, quick pace of play, great scenery and varying holes.
Golf Club of Dublin
Played On 05/03/2014Deep bunkers don't make a "links" course, but...
the golf course is well worth the effort to play. Thick rough, some of it thick fescue, is similar to Irish courses, but isn't on all of the holes. The sod lined bunkers do add a sense authenticity.
We did get behind a group that took the opportunity to fish for golf balls during their round, and they got over a hole behind, forcing FOUR groups to wait to tee off of the ninth hole. Since I had an engagement to get to, we asked the marshals if we could jump ahead of the slow group. They allowed us to go backwards from 18 until we found the hole that they were on and played 13-18. I appreciate them for allowing us to do this. The rest of the foursome played 10-12 with no problem.
Since relatives live in the area, I will be back.
Canyon/Lakes at Spanish Trail Country Club
Played On 04/26/2014We will be back
Having never seen Spanish Trails on Golfnow.com, we decided to give it a try. After playing another course the previous day, we were surprised at the difference in the conditions. Great greens, great fairways and a three hour round makes me believe this is one of the best courses in the area. Amazing holes considering that the Las Vegas area is basically flat.
The Idaho Club
Played On 8/19/2013It is a hard son of a gun
My wife and I played The Idaho Club and everything that you read is true. The course need a bit of help in some places, the facilities are kinda lacking, the golf carts are possibly on their last leg (ours had the hardest seat cushion ever) and the routing and layout require some impossible shots (220+ yard carries, etc).
Now I can say I played it. Probably won't be going back.
Palouse Ridge Golf Club at Washington State University
Played On 9/15/2012Fun, fun, fun
Never having been to western Idaho/eastern Washington before, I was unaware of the terrain that we would be playing through. Rolling hills are abundant in this area and this is what Palouse Ridge is - rolling hills, playing on top of and through the valleys created by them. The course has a neat layout and is definitely on my list of must plays.
Note - we played in mid-September. Again, not knowing what we were getting in to, we were unaware of the wheat fields in the area. Wheat farmers must like to burn their fields after the harvest and we caught this time of the year. Smoke from this burn-off made it hard to see where your ball was heading on some holes.
