Haven’t played this course for 3 years , alas the condition has gone in the wrong direction. This course could be one of the best in the area if someone would spend money on it, the layout is so good, a player’s course.

From start to finish La Costa golf was excellent staff from checking in , to the starter and course marshal all friendly and helpful. Weather was very good the condition of the course very good and of course it helps if the guys your matched up with are fun to play with . All of which was so and finally it helps if your playing well.

Played Carlton Oaks many times before, a good test for your game , many different shots needed to score well here, tees and bunkers need a little work and a few patches on the fairways. But greens good in speed and roll if only people would repair pitch marks. Will be back soon.

We were put behind a competition and had a small delay to start , but after that the pace of play was ok and our group got round before sunset , 4 1/2 hr round . The course was in great condition , greens were mid speed not to quick and true . Balls on the range short game area very good to warm up before you play .

Carlton Oaks is my go to course when in San Diego , great layout and a good test of your game . Yes there are places in the rough that are in poor condition , but you miss the cut stuff that's what golf about !! . Once again the only negative pitch marks on the greens and that's down to us !! REPAIR PLEASE .

This course is top notch apart from every time you get to the green you have multiple pitch marks waiting for you. This is not the green keepers fault but our fault as golfers for not repairing them. If when we arrive at the green we repair ours and one other the greens would be perfect which would be good for us and good for the green keepers. The green keeper wouldn't think that all golfers were dicks! So the next time we play repair our pitch marks and more because it is better for everybody.

Second time I played the canyon , this time I played the black tees , played from the gold two days ago ,as the wind was gusting and not played the canyon before . The blacks were about 300 yards further back but the blacks tee needed more range of shots . The course is in great shape , fairways great , greens great very fast away from the mountain , slow towards so to score putting the ball below the pin is a must !! . Next time Iam in Tucson will play this and the Mountain course again .

The Links at Biltmore , was a enjoyable play the has some good dog leg holes that make you think about the shot and club of the tee , with the length under 6500 yds you don,t have to pull the driver on all the par 4 , 5 s . On the back it has level changes that gives you good views of the holes and some great views over Phoenix . Greens in good condition , fairways were good , rough was thin , easy to hit shots from . Only way to lose ball is in the water or into the houses along side the course . I enjoyed my round on the links but it help when your playing well .

The course is fairly open of the tees , played off the backs distance no problem . Fairways good condition , rough light , bunkers good and testing . The greens are large and mostly flat , slopes back to front , greens in ok condition apart from all the players in front not repairing pitch marks . As long as you don't lose balls in the water or over the fence which is hard to do you should score well .

The course is in good nick this year , have played it each year that I,am in San Diego . First 9 is up and back along a small valley were the wind plays a good part in club selection and water in play on good few of the holes , you have to think a lot off The tee were to place the ball to get position for shot into green . The back 9 again placement of tee is a plus with two holes round lake will kill your card , waik away with par round 11 and 12 and your score well on the back , but wait for the sting in the tail the 18th long par 4 were position off tee is ace to give yourself a chance to go for pin watch out for the back pin on this green it brings the water into play more and sits behind a large mound across the green get the wrong side and t3,4 putt can find it way on your card . 19th hole good , food good and cheap , outside clubhouse great view over golf course .

The course is on the short side but with farly small greens which were in good condition you need to think your way round , placing of tee shots on fairways so you can attack flags a must . The only small negative fringe grass around green to long made putting difficult if just on green .
