A beautiful warm early spring day, the Wahconah course was in terrific shap. Though the rough was a little on the overgrown side, it was still extremely fair. Pace of play was great....the only negative being that one of the carts in our foursome broke down around the 11th hole and. Caused an interruption in play for our foursome. Back nine is double the difficulty of the front nine. Still, a wonderful test of golf on a very good golf course.

Great course layout and terrific staff. Overall, course is in good condition, especially the greens and fairways. Many repair areas in fringe and approach areas around the greens which should have been reseeded. They should be marked as "ground-under-repair" and reseeded or resodded. My first experience playing a high desert golf course, and I enjoyed it immensely.

A beautiful Indian Summer day......though the greens are small, they are in great shape. A ton of pine needles and fallen leaves on the course making the lies tricky, but resolved by playing "lift and place". Fairways in spotty condition, but overall thought it was a great value ($15) on GolfNow.com. I enjoyed the course, though it was not as challenging as most I have played....a 112 slope rating. Sand traps were in poor condition.....good thing I kept on the grass. Course design and layout one of its best features.

This is a terrific course which I enjoy immensely, but it has gotten heavy play , so there are lots of divots in the fairways, and the greens are in less than perfect shape as too many golfers have not repaired their ball marks. I played as a single, and it took 8 holes of waiting at every hole before the 4some in front of me invited me to play through.......with at least 3 holes open in front of them. Pro shop was great getting me out on the course 40 minutes earlier than my scheduled tee time from GolfNow.

Cold and windy, the greens were in excellent shape, but the fairways and rough had patchy inconsistent growth and were soggy in many places on the course. Sand traps, though raked and trooped, were often gravely and were like oatmeal....so tough to explode out of. I enjoyed the course layout.....lots of elevated tees. Hope to play again on my next visit to Portland when it is warmer.

Perhaps the best course open to the public within 1hour of SSI. Look for the bargains on GolfNow.com.....otherwise it can be expensive.
