Ocean County Golf Course at Atlantis

The heat has taken it's toll on the greens. 50% of the putting surface is dead. Somebody decided to run a piece of equipment across the greens leaving deep tire tracks across the putting surfaces. The bunkers have not seen a trim in weeks or perhaps months. I brought a guest from out of town and it was embarrassing. Played here many times and have not ever seen it in such poor condition. Its too bad because the course has a great traditional layout and is challenging. Somebody left the classic car in the field to rot. Shame.

Golf now is the best. I was visiting Arizona for the first time. I really wanted to play TPC Scottsdale but the 300 dollar price tag was not in my golf budget. I have played at Torrey, Pinehurst #2, and many other fine courses. Never payed more than 200. I just can not justify paying 4.00 every time I hit the ball. You do the math. I checked golf now and got a rate of 99 for a noon tee time. WOW. It was 80 degrees with a light breeze. Perfect. The course is everything you think it is. The rough is a penalty, the greens are true and fast, the sand is soft , and the fairways are fantastic. I did not get booed at the 16th. Birdie on that hole, a little less pressure with no beer containers being thrown your way. 16th is the easiest hole on the course. Any ball not sticking on the green is a tough fight back onto the putting surface. Lots of rough and tough lies surrounding the greens. Overall great course, thanks to golf now I got to check one more course off my wish list.

The course has a very challenging layout due to water in play on most of the holes. The course can play fairly easily or fairly hard depending on the tee boxes you choose. If you can place the ball in the fairway at will play the back for lots of fun. If you are not sure where your ball is going off the tee box stay to the white tees.
My only negative feedback is the lack of players repairing the divots on the fairway and the greens. I would like to inform the fine residents of Virginia what the funny bottles are on the sides of the cart. They are used to repair the divots after you hit the ball, please use them!! The course is taking a beating from the lack of players caring about the course. Please take care of the course and help them keep the course playable.
