Cranberry Highlands Golf Course
Played On 08/28/2018Great Track
Played this course towards end of August for the first time. Everyone was nice, no one was pushy. You saw all kinds of workers doing work all day, which is refreshing. Greens, fairways, and bunkers were all in perfect shape. GPS with auto brakes on the carts was a little dumb, but they want to take care of their beautiful course. If you're not a Cranberry Township resident, don't complain about the rate, because anywhere but where we live, this course would be $125-$150. I will play again!
Champion Lakes Golf Course
Played On 08/26/2018Greens as good as Laurel
Played golf for roughly 10 years and finally got to Champion Lakes sunday, I'm upset it's taken me this long to finally play this course. For all the rain, the course was in great shape. Greens were in amazing shape, and just as comparable to Laurel or any of the primo tracks here in Western Pa. Some bunkers were in the process of being replaced and had some water after the morning shower, but everything else with the course was perfect. Picture worthy holes, Alison and Dick took care of our entire group with any accommodation they needed. Drive to Bolivar, and play this golf course before all the leaves fall.
Barefoot Resort & Golf - Norman Course
Played On 10/19/2016Great Course
Tightest of the 4 Barefoot courses, it was a little soaked compared to the other 3, but anyone who thinks this is the worst of the 4 courses should reconsider. This was the dampest, but the layout is still fun and challenging.
Tidewater Golf Club
Played On 10/17/2016Very Good
Played Tidewater a week after Hurricane Matthew hit and it was in very good condition. Greens were fast, just some trees uprooted and some of the debris was pushed in the areas surrounding fairways, but course was in a great shape all things considered . Just a few holes that soaked, I suggest you play this course if you can get on it.
Olde Stonewall Golf Club
Played On 09/23/2016Best Public Course I've played!
We live about a little over an hour from Ellwood City and we finally got the chance to play Olde Stonewall.
Started the round at 3:30pm and finished at 7:15 so pace was good, only issue was that we ran into a bunch of foursomes on the back 9, which slowed us down a little.
In terms of what shape the course is in, for a Public course, Olde Stonewall was in just as good shape as some of the most exclusive private golf courses I've played.
Greens ran extremely fast, some minor issues with a day of play and players not fixing their ball marks, but it was nothing to get hot and bothered about.
Every hole was beautiful, especially on the back 9, with drastic changes in elevation. Pictures on every hole on the back.
I've been lucky enough to play Oakmont Country Club, Bedford Springs, and Laurel Valley Golf Club, and for a public golf course Olde Stonewall stacks up with these three.
I liked Olde Stonewall a lot better than Bedford Springs, I just felt that every hole was different, where as at Bedford Springs some of the holes seemed very similar.
It's very simple for me, while I haven't played many of the public golf courses out East, for me Olde Stonewall is the best public course in Western, PA..
Olde Mill Resort
Played On 06/10/2016Hidden Gem
Played three rounds over the course of 3 days, what a gem. Greens were challenging, firm, and fast.
Some hazard areas that aren't visible to the eye need to be scouted before you tee off, but what a test of golf.
No wifi is kind of a bummer, but you're in the boonies in VA, so not much room to complain. Great breakfast every morning (because it would be an hour drive to eat anywhere else).
Staff is super friendly, didn't see a ranger the entire weekend. Pace of play was pretty good. Lost probably 12-15 balls, so pack heavy if you're a high handicapper.
This was our groups second trip to this hidden gem, for $239 for 3 rounds, and two nights stay, we will continue to make the 6 hour drive to Olde Mill.
Prepare to wait if you eat at the bar. Bar was packed to the gills and with only one bartender, he was beyond slow.
Leopard's Chase Golf Links at Ocean Ridge Plantation
Played On 10/17/2015Test of Golf
Even with yardage books this course was hard to figure out. Very pretty holes, tremendous layout.
Course was in second to none shape, pace of play was outstanding. Bit of an issue at the range because we had 16 guys, and they didn't have enough balls for us, so parts of our group had to wait until cart guy took his dear old time bringing back balls.
Pro shop is nothing to write home about, but all staff members were courteous.
Just be careful, I've been reading that Big Cats Golf is having some big financial issues with Jaguar's Lair, because the homes that are to be built around it are not selling. Which is putting a halt to the development of the new course, and is subsequently hurting the other Big Cats Courses.
Played 15 courses in Myrtle, and except TPC Myrtle Beach, and Blackmoor, this is 3rd on the list.
Arcadian Shores Golf Club
Played On 10/18/2014Maybe 20 Years Ago
The layout of this course was good, but the maintenance was pure junk..
Leaves everywhere, hard bunkers, a dark green different type of grass growing on the greens, in bad shape.
Putting Green rolled fast and true, greens on the course were just awful. Couple guys in our group played this course 20 years ago and said it was in perfect shape, not the day we played.
Fairways were hard and erratic. Just a bad round of golf
Man O' War Golf Course
Played On 10/15/2014Great Track!!!
Great Course, in Great Condition.
Water makes you think, but doesn't make the round dreadful.
Greens rolled Great!!!
Play Man-O-War, and get the Chili Dogs!!!
Cape May National Golf Club
Played On 08/30/2014Great Course for Price
Cost us $60 to get on Labor Day weekend with group of friends who were in town for a wedding.
Played one up from the tips, no need to ever hit driver, all Target golf. The most you will have in on Par 5's if you play one up from the tips is 250.
Greens were amazing, seemed like everything wanted to go in. No burn out's on greens, no fungus issues, truly a great course.
GPS is provided on carts, little confusing because it seemed like the Hazard Distances on each hole were a little off, but in terms of yardages into greens, the GPS was spot on.
Staff was very friendly, especially the cart girls, and starter.
Fun course to play, don't be a hero, just hit it straight, leave Driver in the bag, you won't need it.
Potomac Shores Golf Club
Played On 07/19/2014Great Course
Played this with three of my friends in July.
Price was $115, got out early on a Saturday. They provide you with a yardage book, which helps a ton.
Played one up from the back, and didn't need to pull driver all day, do yourself a favor, play from the tips.
Just try and stay in bounds, as you will find that where the cartpath ends, so does the chances of your finding your ball.
Conditions were pretty good, for a brand new course, a few greens had some black outs, but you greens rolled pretty good.
Range balls are included with your cost, as is the yardage book. Some of the fairways were a little wet, but all in all course was in good shape.
I recommend you to play this course, lots of nice holes with alot of woods, you cannot walk this course, very spread out in between holes.
