Fun course but...

So, I like this course, both of them, and enjoy playing as they each have challenging aspects to them but with all the OB and tricky approach shots, dog legs, and relatively smallish greens, I would like to see them improve the areas around the greens. So many crab grass patches, dead areas, unattended traps and such are all fixable by the course management. Personally, I’d pay more for the green fees for a more playable around the green experience. I will say the greens were consistent and have received the attention I mention here but the other areas where you need to score are desperately in need of a rethink. Staff and everyone was super friendly albeit a bit overly-Covid restricted lol

Bring the greens up to par please

I love both courses and layouts...you almost can't touch it in the LA basin area for price to quality ratio. But, my visit yesterday was marred with hairy, slow and inconsistent greens. Tee to green was solid and pace of play was good, the smoke well that's another story. But the greens consistently were just terrible. Roll them and mow them for a weekend. It made the whole day a disappointment. It'd also be nice to have the grounds peeps at lease rake the sand traps daily if they are not going to leave the rakes out due to Covid-19. Traps also need to be "refreshed" and made a bit more consistent, at least around the greens. Love t

I'd play it again...

This one was challenging and a good track. Being my first time at the course made it difficult to place all shots where they needed to be and I want to come back to play it 2-3 more times in order to become more familiar with where shots need to be placed. Many of the holes are true bending doglegs and course management loves to leave those well placed trees at the dogleg. It would be nice to see some "selective" trimming of some trees that really inhibit 2nd shots. Basically, those trees cut off 1/2 or more ill placed tee shots, even when you hit the fairway, making the course a bit less playable. I found the grounds, from tee to green, in pretty good shape and the greens were very consistent throughout. The sand was a bit "grainy" and wet but playable for the most part. Greens had some break and many holes have backstops you can work with throughout the round. I also found the greens to break consistent with what you see and this course didn't seem to have any "all greens break to the valley/ocean/basin" type oddities like some SoCal courses. The practice greens were not reflective of the greens on the course...no break at all on the practice green (speed was similar) but on the course they had a decent amount of break, depending on pin placement. I would go back and play the course again just to figure out how to navigate the course better. This is a very flat track of land, so, tee to green had almost zero elevation but all greens were "raised" in order to create sand and pot bunkers along with some back to front depth. All in all, it was a good track with some trees that could use some selective trimming. Also, be prepared to deal with exposed roots from the pine trees when in the rough or off the fairway...lots of roots everywhere.

Best round ever

I was please to see the course in such good ahape. Some holes were cart path only (4-5 of them) which socks but not a deal breaker. The greens were consistent and rolled nicely albeit not super fast. Ended up shooting my personal best 75 on the Babe course. The tee shots are tight and many holes don't require a driver...better off putting it in the fairway here as most u forgivable trouble is off the tee. Good play but slow pace with lots of non-English speaking players on the course.

Nice track with consistent greens but burnt fairways...

I enjoyed playing at Moorpark CC and would definitely go back to play again. The drought has affected this course, like many other, but more so in the fairways. They are totally dead. Pretty much no green grass in the fairways. I will say the greens were true, consistent and all in all great shape.
