Inmates running the asylum

It is insane to have a starter, and not have him do his job. The end result is having multiple twosomes and threesomes roaming the course instead of foursomes (all in single carts) — and a 5+ hour round. The greens were punched three weeks ago and are still healing, but the rainfall has the fairways and rough looking lush. I so desperately want to love this course, but the pace of play is atrocious (but should be “fixable”).

Incredibly Enjoyable!

The staff was friendly. The practice range, puttting green, and short game practice areas were great. Then the course....
Stepping onto the first tee gave me hope for what might await. A fairway pot bunker about 200yds out into a 419yd hole splits the fairway into two landing areas. The upper fairway will give you slightly longer approach, but a better vantage point to the green than the lower fairway. The green was receptive, and they roll beautifully.

There are 500+ yd par 5’s and 306yd and 320yd par 4’s offering outstanding risk-reward resembling Pete Dye designed courses. The five par 3’s range from 119yd to 190yd, and flag placements will determine landing zones not to be messed with.

My only regret is not being able to stay long enough to play another round while I was here. Enjoy!! I know I did...

Light at the end of the tunnel

This Donald Ross gem will only improve as the new clubhouse facilities finish completion (spring 2019?). Yes, there is an awkward course layout having to begin at 11 and end at 10. Yes, you need to be on site at least one hour before tee time if you want to hit the range (it’s completely across the property). Yes, there are limited resources available for food, beverage, and pro shop merchandise.

But for $60 (cart included), you get a course that is only improving as the weather warms up. The greens were aerated recently and need to grow in, but they will run quickly in another week. Play it now before it once again becomes a private club soon enough. The staff is friendly, and the course design will challenge all skill levels (no need to bring driver out on many of the holes - hint - hint).
