Crab Meadow Golf Course
Played On 08/16/2019Wet Rot
Was invited to play this course by a friend and jumped at the chance to finally play this gorgeous course. We got 78 degree weather with NO wind off the surrounding waters. Just a perfect day. We started with driving some balls at the range station just outside the clubhouse while deer grazed on the grass right below us. Our tee time was set for 7:14 but the starter let us go out in our twosome about 15 minutes earlier. The views from every hole are great. Water and greenery surround your eyes everywhere you look. The carts have GPS, which I have heard others complain about, with built in range finders which made club selection and stroke power much easier to determine. Holes 2 through 5 showed some wet rot but I'm giving 5 stars anyway because I can imagine how nice things will look once they address that. I would and will be back to play this beauty again.

Second time playing here in 3 weeks but we made the mistake of going on the day the men's league plays so there were several holes where we were waiting for foursone after foursome to finish while foursome after foursome waited behind us. Luckily we paired with a father son team (both names Kevin) who were great guys and kept the day light and easy going. Our 8:30 tee ended around 1:05 so not too bad. Fairways were good, greens were fast and if you landed in the wrong rough you lost a ball. Still love this place though and will be back but probably not on a Thursday lol.

The deal from Golf Now said the amount paid includes a bucket of range balls. We were not offered/reminded of this by anyone at the course. Not the biggest issue but still feel like it should have been mentioned especially since it was our first time there.
The course was in pretty good condition and we got out about 15 minutes early for our 8:45 tee time. The fairways and greens were fair but a tad quick with balls rolling further than they should. The rough? Boy was it ever. The difference was considerable and challening for everyone in our foursome. You needed a machette to find your ball even just 2-3 feet left or right of the fairways. Same around the green. Would have liked to see a little more of a gradual change from those areas but it is what it is.
But the open layout, the green grass and the occassional cool breezes made this a fun day out and definitely a place I will revisit in the near future.
Blue at Eisenhower Park Golf Course
Played On 03/15/2019Only course Open
Our threesome had a GolfNow reservation at another course but to our dismay about 85% of the courses on Long Island were closed due to "snow on the ground" so the course we booked was closed. We called Eisenhower and they were open for walk-ins and quoted as an over the phone price of $36 for 18 holes of walking golf. We raced over and upon presenting our IDs for payment were promptly told we were "non residents" (we live in Queens) and our $36 charge was bumped to $50!!!! With not much choice and an itch to play we swallowed hard and paid the additional $14 per person. The course was like playing on concrete. We had fun because of our group but the pace of play and the overall course was a disappointment, especially at $50/person to WALK the course.

If you're only stepping onto a course for the 3rd time in your life (like me) then this is not the course for you. That being said even an inexperienced golfer like myself can appreciate a course like this. Several holes of 450+ yards will let you grip and rip your driver for that satisfying power aspect while the dog legs, hazards and greens will definitely entice and frustrate your short game. The course was being worked on during our round so the greens were a little wet and fast in some areas but they still looked great. We teed off at approximately 9:45am and were done by 1pm (3+hrs). Having a starter at the clubhouse is a nice plus and the houses throughout the course will definitely make you keen on keeping your long strokes as straight as possible. I will be back but not until Ive hit the range a bunch more times.
