T-36 at Baytown Golf Course
Played On 04/01/2024Teeing It Up at T36
First time on this course. It was the old Evergreen Golf Course that had been upgraded. It is a novel course design in that most tee boxes share tees for 2 different holes as well as fairways but only for one group of players at at a time. This took a lot of getting used to as well as remembering the correct green for the hole.
The mosquito problem was noticeable but not overwhelming, though I would recommend the use of repellent or long sleeve shirts and pants.
The most annoying thing was the golf cart overrides especially in out-of-the way areas. Sometimes it was necessary to access a nearby cart path from another hole but due to the sofgtware controls on the cart those areas could not be accessed making it more difficult than it should've been to maneuver around the course. Hopefully, the course managers will remedy this problem.
Overall, it is a good course though, I wouldn't recommend it for very good golfers since the maximum yardage is only 5300 yards. If the course adds water coolers, some additonal hole signange, removes the governors on the carts and maintains the low green fee, it could be successtul.
Greatwood Golf Club
Played On 08/15/2022Good but not Great . . . Wood
Played Greatwood on a very hot Monday afternoon. The course layout is very challenging. As a first time player, it was helpful to have played with someone who knew the course. The greens and fairways were in good condition. The extended rough areas? Not so much.
I found the layout challenging. The course length is not the issue but the undulations and hidden portions of the fairway.
Only found one or two water coolers oin the course. Thankfully, the server in the grill was generous with handing out ice and water.
Because of the current condtion of the course and its' unique holes, I would only rate the course as worth $30-35 a round.
Moody Gardens Golf Course
Played On 03/28/2022Windy and Moody
Played Moody Gardens for the 2nd time in 2 years. Very windy but sunny day. Course was very challenging due to wind, water, and layout. It is a good course, especially if you're looking for a challenge. Price was a bit high for the condition of the course. The 1st time I played the course it was in excellent condition due to closure because of the pandemic. This time the course was in fair to good condition. Some greens had blight or fungal rot and some fairways were suboptimal due to amount of play and winter damage. Hopefully, as the spring progresses the fairways will grow-in and the greens will heal. I recommend waiting another month or two to play. Right now, the course is overpriced. Would I play it again? Definitely, but I would wait till May or June unless you're looking for a challenge right now.
Jersey Meadow Golf Course
Played On 01/31/2022Back in Jersey Again
Hadn't played at J.M. in 7 months. Took advantage of a Golf Now deal.
The fairway grass is dormant right now however the greens are green. Surprised at the quickness of the greens though they were wet.
The golf carts are new and have built in GPS so I didn't have to guess about distances. This is the only course I've played with this feature which is pleasantly surprising for a public course.
As the weather warms the course will green-up.
Overall, I was happy with the course.
Battleground at Deer Park, The
Played On 12/13/2021Battling the Elements
Hadn't played at Battleground G.C. in about 6-9 months and decided to try it again on my day off. Early on, I realized that the course's layout was very challenging. I suppose, I could have noticed it before but previiously I was focused on just playing. In any case, the course is in relatively good shape for fall, almost winter conditions down south. The greens were recently sanded and were very fast, more than I remember last time. The grass was weathered on some holes indluding the fringe of the greens but the fairways were in good shape. Overall, I 'd recommend the course. By the way, it has at least 5 tee boxes for varying skill levels.
Atascocita Golf Club - Point/Shores Course
Played On 09/10/2021Atascocita Once Again
Surprisingly, the course was in great shape. Both the fairways and the greens were in excellent shape. The greens were faster than I remember them to be. The rough was a little too high this time.
Overall, the course played well though play was slow at times.
Atascocita Golf Club - Point/Shores Course
Played On 07/26/2021Atascocita: the Second Time Didn't Disappoint
Atascocita G.C. is a 27 hole course. I played the Pinehurst and Point courses today. The courses were in excellent condition. The greens were replaced 2 years and are in excellent condition. I played Pinehurst for the first ninr holes. Pinehurst has mostly narrow fairways since it is situated within a housing development. Definitely, a "good golfers" course. Played from the white tees so it was a good challenge. On the back nine I played Point. The Point nine is more wide open than Pinehurst so my errant tee shots often remained inbounds. There were several blind shots on this nine so it would help to play with someone who knows the course. The greens were very quick with various undulations making putting exciting. Oh yes, the greens are smaller in size compared to other local courses. All-in-all. A good day at Atascocita.
Greatwood Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2021Great Times at Greatwoid G.C.!
Played Greatwood for the first time yesterday. Joined-up with a twosome. Despite the heavy rains in the area for the last several weeks the course was in good condition. Though "Cart path only" the back nine could have handled carts. Challenging layout. Definitely need a map of the course if this is your first time. Resodded areas of the course (mostly old bunkers) were dried out and need replacement. Overall, the fairways were in good shape. Greens were in very good condition-better than those I've played recently.
Southwyck Golf Club
Played On 07/05/2021Southwicking the Shirt
Seems that everytime I want to play Southwyck it rains. First 4 holes it was raining steadily. Surprisingly, the course has no thunder warnings-it"s play at your own risk..Thunder was far enough away so I played. Southwyck has a very challenging layout. It is situated within a housing development so a number of the fairways are narrow. In addition, it has some hills, so at least for several holes, it plays like a Links course. Some of the fairways on the front nine were not cut so it was difficult to hit good iron shots-better for woods. Back nine was better. Overall, the fairways were in very good shape. So too were the greens, althoigh several had burned areas. Given the course conditions the green fee was a little high. It plays like a $30-$32 course rather than a $35 that I payed. If you like narrow fairways with a challenging layout this a good course for you.
Wildcat Golf Club - The Highlands
Played On 06/14/2021Striking Oil at Wildcat!
Usually, when I play a course for the first time, I don't fo so well. Yesterday at Wildcat was the exception. It was partly due to choosing a reasonable tee-I chose the 6100 yard Blue Tees and played the Highlands Course. This course has a very challenging layout. If you are playing it for the first it probably be good to play with someone who knows the course. Wildcat was in pretty good shape although most greens had burned-out portions. The choice of 5 tee boxes offers a variety of skill levels the chance to do well. I played the course alone and several times had difficulty locating the next hole or the direction of the hole because several tee areas are located near one another. In addition, more signs indicating the direction to the next hole are needed. However it was a good day to play and "strike oil" at Wildcat.
Jersey Meadow Golf Course
Played On 06/07/2021Meandering in the Meadow
Played Jersey Meadow for the first time today.
Surprisingly, despite all of the recent rain here in Texas the course has drained well. The fairways are in fantastic shape-almost virginal. The greens however are mediocre with a lot of dried-out or rotted areas. That was one.of the big disappointments today. In addition, 2 holes were closed due to a construction project involving the state of Texas, and a Par 5 was shortened to a Par 3. These changes were very disappointing. I don't remember Golf Now mentioning these issues when I booked my round; otherwise I may have gone elsewhere. The construction work was reflected in the discounted fees. The pace of play was excellent. Teed-off at 12:30 and finished by 3:20 pm. If you don't mind the issues described above and you only pay a reasonable amount ($20-$27), then "meandering at the Meadows" may be for you!
Houston National Golf Club
Played On 03/01/2021"Everything's Windy"
Chose a windy and overcast day to play Houston National. Even with the late tee time, I expected to join a group but hardly anyone was playing..As I played fairly well, I remembered the challenge of this course: difficult Green placements, often over water; and tight layouts.
While the traps were in good shape, areas of the fairways were bare. I expected the course to be in better shape. Maybe not so much due to the winter temperatures. For a course of its stature, I hope there is a robust effort to repair and upgrade the grass this spring..If you like challenging greens even in winter conditions National"s got your back. Overall, a good day amd place to play.
Thank you so much for leaving us with your feedback. We value our customer experience, so your review is important to us. We will make note and we hope to see you back at Houston National Golf Club!
Atascocita Golf Club - Point/Shores Course
Played On 01/06/2021Atascocita, "You're gonna make me lonesome when [I] go"
Atascocita G.C. proved to be a challenging play recently. When I learned it had 3 x 9-hole courses, I assumed this average golfer would score well but I was mistaken. Playing from the white tees, the Pinehurst and Point Courses seemed fairly long. The grass is dormant now so expect extra roll on the fairways and roughs. Though the course is situated among a housing development there were at least 2 or 3 wide fairways on each nine. The greens were very fast and quite a challenge. Even, at this time of the year, Atascocita is worth a play. You even may be "lonesome when you go [home]" to paraphrase Bob Dylan.
Bay Forest Golf Course
Played On 11/30/2020Chilly Day at the Bay
Despite all of the recent rains the course was in very good shape today. Very little standing water and so, the fairways and greens were very playable. The greens are as fast as usual so if you enjoy this kind of challenge Bayforest is a good play. The pace of play was slow. My twosome got stuck behind a foursome of walkers who would not let us playthrough. A marshall should have been present to speed play or have the foursome let us move ahead. This was both surprising and disappointing for a course with such a good reputation. I will think twice before coming back for another round.
Hello! Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to see that your overall experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you'll give us another try in the near future. Thanks for choosing Bay Forest Golf Course.
Clear Creek Golf Course
Played On 06/19/2020Swimming-up Clear Creek
Yesterday's round was quite challenging because of the windy conditions and the heat. Lost a few golf balls as the wind pushed them into grass hazards. Overall though, it was a good round at Clear Creek. The front nine was backed-up due to a slow foursome which the club should remedy but the back was much smoother. Course has a
very nice layout and is easily playable for those who know the course. Some additional signage indicating the location of the next holes would be helpful (e.g. going from #11 to #12). In any case, it was worth the 50 minute drive to Houston even if I found myself at times "swiming-up Clear Creek."
Bayou Golf Course
Played On 06/12/2020Hot Time at the Bayou
Pleasantly surprised with my recent round at Bayou G.C. First time player and with the low green fee my expectations were lowered. The course was in suprisingly good condition. The layout was challenging especially for a first time player. It's probably best to play with a friend who knows the course as there are several hidden water hazards. The greens have been aerated and sanded and so they were very fast and of course, didn't roll true. Probably in another 3-4 weeks they will be in top shape. The staff were friendly and I found it fairly easy to locate the holes since I was new to the course. A good round overall.
We love hearing about our golfers' experiences, dpbegany. Please tell us more about what you enjoyed from your round with us. Thanks for choosing us!
Battleground at Deer Park, The
Played On 06/05/2020Battling It Out at Battleground
Hadn't played Battleground in about 4 months but found a convenient time to play today. I heard the greens were in bad shape and so I had avoided the course. Overall, the course has greened-up nicely. Some of the greens were blightedand had some bare areas but surprisingly, most were in good shape. I did take issue with the speed of the greens. They werre slower than i remember and I had difficulty getting a true roll from my putts. I checked with the GM and he said they were letting the greens grow and in fact, they may have been completley reseeded. In any case, I was pleased with the course today. Because of the conditions of the greens, I felt the price of the round was too expensive. $26-28/round would've been more appropriate.
Hi. We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing @TheBattleground.

Pearland Golf Club
Played On 06/01/2020Just Peachy at Pearland
Pearland G.C. is a former private club that has now become a public course. It is situated within a residential community. Despite that, many of the holes have wide-open fairways.
Except for the rain puddles, the course was in very good condition yesterday. The fairways have greened-up and were a pleasure to hit from. The greens are currently difficult to putt-on as they were recently aerated and sanded. In another 2-3 weeks they will fill-in and the course will be in top notch condtion. One I thing I esepcially liked was the 5 choices of tee boxes for different skill level. Overall, it was a wet but memorable experience.
Hi dpbegany. We appreciate you leaving a review and rating us. We will inform the entire team, so they know their hard work is paying off. We look forward to having you back at Pearland Golf Club!
Moody Gardens Golf Course
Played On 05/04/2020Hard to Be Moody at Moody Gardens
The course re-opened yesterday after a 5 week closure due to the Coronavirus. The sweetest part of the course were the fairways which resembled virgin green carpets. As you can imagine, it was a treat not having to worry about your ball rolling into a divot. The greens too, were in good shape. They are still recovering from aeration but despite that, the ball rolled pretty true. The course isn't overloaded with traps but they could use some topping-off as the sand is course and some mud is visible in a few. The staff was friendly, and I believe the grille was open to a limited number of people. Now, with the lush fairways, would be an ideal time to play Moody Gardens which should brighten even the "moodiest" golfer.
Thanks so much for taking the time to come out to the course, as well as write us a review! We also appreciate your feedback. Our staff is working hard to ensure that everything is running smoothly and ensuring the safety and well being of all. We are so excited to have you back here again soon!
Tour 18 Houston
Played On 03/23/2020Tour (18) of a Lifetime
This was my first visit to Tour 18. I kept seeing these Hole markers listing various famous courses but it was only during the last few holes that I realized that the course consists of duplicate holes of famous world championship golf courses! It was a challenging but very playable course. It was in excellent condition.
Place of play was a bit slow on the front nine but greatly picked-up on the back. Had some nice in-house amenities and despite the Coronavirus precautions the staff was helpful.
One minor critique was the lack of directions to the next hole especially for the middle to last part of the front nine. Otherwise, it was a good day.
Thank you for visiting us at Tour 18 Houston. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
