Maryland National Golf Club
Played On 06/17/2021Nice course, slow play
I’ve played here dozens of times. The course is always in good shape, although the bunkers are fairly rocky. It’s a terrific layout. The real issue the last couple times I’ve visited has been slow play. Today a foursome a couple groups in front of us took 2.5 hours on the front nine. No ranger, nobody from the clubhouse came out despite them saying they monitor every group’s pace from GPS on the carts. The time before this I quit after almost 5 hours for only 15 holes. Both rounds were early afternoons on weekdays. I’d never even consider this place on a weekend. Great course that just needs better management of pace of play.

The course is in outstanding condition. Played as a single this afternoon at a comfortable pace and finished in 3 hours. You won’t find anywhere in the area in nearly the condition that Maryland National is. Tees, fairways, and greens are all in great shape after some tough weather in July and August. The layout is fun with some big elevation changes, even if the par 3s are a little repetitive. This course consistently provides the best overall value at this price point with the overall amenities, conditions, layout, and pace of play.

Played On 08/30/2020Great layout but 5-hour round today
Course was in great shape as always, and the layout is enjoyable. Beautiful surroundings with lots of dramatic elevation changes. Fairway divots are getting out of hand due to no sand bottles on carts. Pace of play was totally unacceptable. We made the turn in 2.5 hours and finished at 5 hours. No ranger anywhere, and nobody said anything at the turn. I’ll definitely be back but may skip the weekend next time.
