Saticoy Golf Course
Played On 03/24/2015The secret is it's a really good course.
I generally play this as a 9 hole but decided to go around twice. It's a nice enough course that it's not boring doing it again. I've met a number of very nice people while playing. Some of the players are rather old, but they never seem to mind to let others play through. Greens are on the fast side and are very well maintained. Good sand in the traps.
Sterling Hills Golf Club
Played On 10/07/2014Worst round in a long time due to course conditions!
They are reseeding about 50% of all fairways except par 3's. The other 50% is in poor shape. It will be a very long time before I play here again, if ever. In the past 10 years this is the very worst shape. My price yesterday was very low (thank you Golf Now) but even if free it would be too much!

The fairways were challenged. Lots of bare spots and uneven surface. Found a broken hose with lots of water flooding an area in front of 1st green (yes, I called). I'm an 18 handicap and the course is a wee bit long for me so I try and break 90. Haven't done it yet!I play Westlake alot and that's rarely over 3.5 hours with lots of golfers. Why is Los Robles always 5?

very quiet area. beautiful scenery. rough wasn't bad.greens in good shape but occasionally bumpy.

Lost Canyons Golf Club - Shadow Course

Layout of fairways is a challenge but fun to play. This course is a super bargain.
Olivas Links Golf Course
Played On 7/16/2013A real challenge.
Beautiful features. Cool climate, when everywhere else was hot, I was debating about putting on my jacket. Some very tough holes. I last played here a few years ago and the course conditions are better. I had 10 to 15 more strokes than I wanted. Greens very good but deceptively slow.
Buenaventura Golf Course

play here many times. keeps getting better. only a small portion of the fairways need work.
greens are always challenging and interesting.
they need to upgrade the menu in the bar. how about a real restaurant.
Camarillo Springs Golf Course

I like Camarillo Springs. Course has gotten better and better over the years. Greens in really good shape with good tough breaks in them. I play boogie golf and I dying to break 80 here.
Westlake Golf Course
Played On 9/13/2012I like course a lot. Greens are pretty good, some small bumps.
Easier course. I go here because of the price and about a 10 stroke differential with other harder courses - good for your ego. Very good public course conditions. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Off the tips there is a 1200 yard difference between these courses. In addition, there is some space between holes at Robles, as opposed to westlake. The course designs are incredibly different. Wedtlake actually books groups closer together than Robles, but they can get away with it because its a shorter (but fun) course.
If you're looking at playing weekend golf and are concerned about the pace of play, best to tee off before 9. In addition, if you look at the course yardage, you can get an idea of a longer or shorter round.
