Sugar Ridge Golf Club
Played On 09/22/2022Awesome views and layout
One of the best layouts I've seen. The course is well-maintained. Great risk/reward holes. Course management is a must. You will learn target golf or take a beating!
If you haven't been here yet, why?
Sugar Ridge Golf Club
Played On 09/22/2022Spectacular views. Awesome risk/reward throughout.
This has always been my favorite course. It is so well designed and very well maintained.
There are a couple par 4s that big hitters can reach the green, but it is very risky with green side ponds.
Overall, this course will really make you consider your shots. Target golf is definitely the key.
It has become very popular for good reason.
If you haven't played here yet, you are really missing out.
Sugar Ridge Golf Club
Played On 06/28/2020Always have loved this course, but they doubled their prices!
I have been playing at Sugar Ridge when is wasn't so well-known. Its a shorter course, but has plenty of risk/reward challenges. Beautiful views. Well-kept. I probably won't be playing here as often as the price has sky-rocketed.
Dearborn Country Club
Played On 08/23/2019Beautiful Vistas,
The course is quite challenging, especially if you haven't played here before. You need to really think about each shot and aiming for the middle of the fairway isn't always the best play! The course if very rolling, which gives way to beautiful vistas from numerous spots throughout the course. There are some tight shots and using a driver isn't always the best play. The course is always in great shape, even when the area is in a drought, the greenskeepers do a fabulous job of maintaining the fairways, tees, and greens.
Downside? No drinking water on the course. The cart path is in terrible shape, so driving a cart requires a little bit of skill!
White/Blue at Neumann Golf Course
Played On 08/08/2018Well Maintained. Wide Fairways. Good Scores
No blind shots. Wide fairways. I played from the champion tees (blue). It was relatively short. The course is in excellent shape. What I don't understand is how! They don't have sand/seed to fill in divots, which would make you think that it would look like the surface of the moon. Especially with the amount of traffic this course has. Its always busy! Interestingly, the play hasn't been slow for me yet. Love this course. It's quite forgiving. Would recommend.
Belterra Casino Golf Club
Played On 07/25/2018Pampered and Perfect
Staff treats you like royalty. You get free use of golf range before tee time. They give you a towel to use. you get a cooler on the cart with 2 bottles of water in ice.
The course is in perfect condition. Like playing on carpet. Very wide fairways. Large greens, Large Traps. Ponds. All make for a very nice round of golf.
I've played at a lot of courses this year and I haven't seen much better unless you compare to resort courses down in Florida! Highly recommend!!!
Stonelick Hills Golf Course
Played On 07/21/2018Memorable features. You won't forget this one.
Beautiful golf course. Nice views. Nice layout. and of course the island green top feature is next to a very nice clubhouse. You really had to think about your shots on this course. Plenty of risk/rewards. It was well-worth the hour drive it took to get to the course.
Pebble Creek Golf Course
Played On 07/18/2018Memorable Features
The top criteria I use to determine if a course is above others is: "Does it have something that makes it memorable". And I mean that in a positive way.
If you are like me, you play a lot of courses, but they don't have anything that really stands out, so the course becomes just average at best.
This course has some memorable holes. The vistas, and island style greens were fun to play.
Highly recommend it.
Meadowood Golf Club
Played On 07/14/2018Simple 9 hole course with some nice features
This is a 9 hole course (not 18). The holes are tightly built next to each other, so if you miss, you'll likely be in another fairway. The conditions were pretty good considering the low budget feel. The greens were in great shape though, so I commend the keepers for that. There were several ponds, which definitely made this a better than average low budget course. The 8th and especially the 9th hole were the most memorable. If you go for the green on this par 4, you have to hit about 230 yards to carry a pond directly in front of the green or if you are very accurate, you can hit a very slim shot to the left of the pond, but more than 30 yards to the left and you are in trees. If you lay up, its about 150 yards to the water. It was a fun hole. I would recommend going for it with a cheap ball just for fun.
I can see this course as being fun for locals. It's perfect for walking. You really don't need a cart.
If you are out for fun and don't care too much about the conditions or tight layout, I would recommend at least trying it once.
Snow Hill Country Club
Played On 07/11/2018Nice, but not quite as nice as I expected
Based on the price and the hype from Snow Hill's web page, I thought this course would be near-immaculate. It's not.
The course has a very nice layout and a couple memorable holes where the green is on a peninsula (nearly an island). I love courses that have at least 1 memorable hole, so this was a treat. The ponds were better than most because these had stone walls instead of being swamp-like.
All-in-all...it was a lot of fun and I would go back, but it is a long drive from where I live.
Dearborn Country Club
Played On 07/06/2018Gasp! No water to drink on the course!!
There are a couple of amenities that you EXPECT from a golf course. 1. Water to drink on the course 2. some kind of quick food or beverage (usually hotdogs). Dearborn has neither of these. The course has some nice views, and they keep it well-watered (unlike they do for the players). The biggest I have with the course layout is that many of the fairways angle toward tall weeds and woods where you will NEVER be able to recover your golf ball. If the course weren't so close to where I live, I probably wouldn't play here more than once per year.
Belterra Casino Golf Club
Played On 06/27/2018I felt like royalty
Staff went out of their way to makecyou feel welcome. Cooler with ice cold water on cart. Cart also had onboard computer to get distance to center of green and other features too.. Free golf range to warm up before round. Course is very well maintained. Lots of wide fairways, but with lots of sand traps. The course was saturated when i played so ball stuxk where it landed, including the drives. Carts on path only was unfortunate, but understandable due to the conditions. Unusual amount of rain caused this. It was still a very enjoyable time..
Timber Ridge Golf Course
Played On 06/18/2018Basic Public Course
This was a typical public golf course. The fairways are close together. Other groups coming the other way hit into our group twice (didn't warn us either time), and of course someone picked up my ball on my very 1st drive and I had to claim it back. The grounds were fairly dried out and its only June.
Despite the negatives, it was a fun round, especially for the price I got. 3 people at $55 (included $10 off using a promo).
Meadow Valley Golf Club
Played On 06/15/2018A decent course, but nothing memorable
The course was in "ok"shape including Tees, fairways, and greens (greens were a bit rough).
The don't honor extra tee times at a lower rate unless you pay their full price. The excuses were lame, but they ended up losing money by doing this because 4 golfers left and played elsewhere.
Battle Ground Golf Club
Played On 06/14/2018Course in great condition
The course was in great condition. The greens were fairly slow, but consistent. The fairways are wide and a bit too close together with other fairways in my opinion. The price was a bit high for the caliber of the course, IMO. Still, I had a great time and would recommend if someone liked this type of layout.
I didn't see any foods at the club house. I'm not sure if I just missed it, but I was looking for a quick bite. So if that is the case, don't go starting your round hungry!!!
Brook Hill Golf Club
Played On 05/28/2018Very few players for Memorial day
Hardly anyone on the course on what should have been a busy day.
The greens were not in good shape, but the rest of the course was okay.
Overall, it was an enjoyable round.
Grand Oak Golf Club
Played On 06/31/2013Nice Course, but bring your game
The course was in great shape when I played it in late June, 2013. There was plenty of rain this year so I imagine most courses are looking good. There are some nice scenic views that make this a step up from many other courses.
I played the back tees and it played long. The greens are very well guarded by water (several ponds), bunkers, and drop-offs. You need to be accurate for this course, especially on the approach shots. You definitely want to plan your shots so you have an easy approach, sometimes its not worth going after the hole if its a tight shot.
Overall, I enjoyed the course. The staff was friendly and the course was wide open when I played. One annoying thing at the time I played was there were groups starting at 10 instead of from 1, which caused some hang ups for other groups. This is never good management.
Please Note: I don't give 4 or 5 stars unless the course has something unique about it...and never a 5 unless it offers ALL the amenities plus something that you won't forget.
