Playable course in great shape

The course was in terrific shape from tee to green. I liked that it was very playable, meaning that it wasn’t overly difficult or penalizing. I hit some shots that I thought for sure rolled Into hazards that weren’t even close. If you keep the ball from going to crookedly, you can score here.

Pace of play was fine once I got through a few groups, but they did let a 5-some go out, which I don’t particularly care for.

If you’re new to Florida golf and playing this on a vacation, know that the humidity will cost you probably half a club on most shots. Take more club than you think on those forced carries!

Also, I definitely recommend waiting for twilight rates, which are much better than prime rates.

Spectacular Track in Great Shape, but Long Round

The course was really backed up all afternoon to the extent that we had 7 people tee off 18 at the same time because there were four groups waiting. Just too many people, but it's easy to understand the demand. The layout never gets dull and the course/greens is/are in great shape considering the hot and dry weather in the last two months. You can score here if you can keep it straight -- the rare exquisite course that isn't too hard for the weekend warrior.

Great layout, fun course

The course layout is tremendous and fun -- lots of unique holes to make for an interesting and never boring round of golf. The course was in excellent condition, especially considering the recent dry heat. Seemed like people left a lot of pitch marks on the greens, but generally everything was well maintained.

Some members of the staff were very friendly; I even had a ranger drive a scorecard out to me on the 7th hole. Sadly, this was only necessary because the starter wasn't one the first tee as I was told he/she would be. Also some staff in the clubhouse and at the cart return were not very friendly.

I paid the twilight rate and would HIGHLY recommend this course at that price. If I didn't live three hours away, I would play here very regularly. As a weekend warrior, I RARELY pay the full rate of $80 to play golf anywhere, let alone somewhere I can wait a few hours to play for half the price.

Unique layout with some tough elevation

There are some holes where being in the fairway is an absolute must due to the elevation changes. Course was in decent shape considering all of the recent heavy rains (greens had just been aerated). The beginning of the back 9 has a few holes that play very similarly to one another, but the holes on the rest of the course all feel very unique. A bit short from the tips compared to some other area courses, but the elevation changes balance some of that out.

Nice new greens

New greens are great. Not sure if they didn't replace all or if they are still recovering, but some on the back 9 need some work (i.e. #16). Overall still some damage around the edges of the greens, but the greens themselves roll well.

I like the layout of this course a lot and think it's decent value for the money. Not overly challenging if you keep it straight.

Fast greens, course in OK shape

The course is a little burnt out and very firm. The greens rolled pretty fast, so make sure not to miss on the wrong side of the hole. I really like the layout of this course, but I have experienced similar conditions both times I've been here that make me feel that other courses in the area are a better value. There's not much to the clubhouse, if that is important to you.

Spectacular golf course

Loved the variety of holes playing across many different changes in terrain. Enough forced carries to keep things interesting but not be annoying. Lots of places to lose balls but fairly generous fairways for the most part. The greens were in excellent shape, and the bunkers could probably use a little work (it was very wet, but it didn't look like fresh powder in there). Overall I really enjoyed the experience and will be back next time I am in the area.

Great course, great condition, but very crowded

The course is great; the layout reminds you of a country club with some tricky doglegs, narrow chutes off the tee, and a need to play strategic golf. I thought the greens rolled very well, and overall I enjoyed the course and will be back. Not a lot of forced carries, but there are a fair number of different kinds of hazards that can pump the score up pretty quickly if you have an off day.

The downside of this course is that it's (from my understanding) by far the nicest public course in the Murfreesboro area, and at $45 to ride on an in-season weekend morning, a very good value. Thus, it was extremely crowded. There were no rangers on the course, though the GPS does tell you how far ahead or behind the proper pace you are, but most people don't change their play unless they get warned by an actual person.

Clubhouse was decent. Separate putting and chipping greens were a nice touch. The driving range is irons only.

Tight course with fast greens

Unique layout through the mountains. Be ready to use your brain when thinking about how many clubs extra or less you need to take compared to the actual yardage. There are a few holes (i.e. a 77 yard par 3) with silly elevation changes, but generally it creates a good challenge.

The fairways are very tight with lots of trees around to cause trouble for wayward shots. The greens undulate pretty severely and played very fast when we were there. Definitely played better than my score indicated given that I (and my playing partner) just could not figure out the greens.

Everything was in decent shape, especially considering the amount of recent rain. Amenities are nothing special, but this course is great for the rate we were charged.

Tough when windy but best course in the area

I love this course and would much rather go here than spend an extra $20 to drive even farther from Franklin to some of the higher quality courses northeast of Nashville. The course was in excellent shape, especially considering the heavy rains we received in the last week. The course layout is challenging but fair and even tougher when the winds are up.

The only negative about the facilities themselves is that the men's room inside the locker room needs a refresh. From a golf perspective, I didn't see a single ranger on the course on a Sunday morning; pace was generally acceptable, but given how popular this course is, I would expect rangers to be beneficial.

Bring your long clubs and your rangefinder

Let me start by saying that the course itself is excellent. Very few trees except for the perimeter of the course, lots of rolling hills and mounds that make for interesting shots and reference points on what I believe is naturally a pretty flat piece of land. The fairways were in decent shape considering it's not even April yet, and the greens were immaculate. The "MiniVerde Bermuda grass greens" ran slow and almost seemed like putting on carpet. Very fair, but also challenging.

I faced a two-club wind that made the course seem a lot longer than the number on the card. The holes that go with the wind that I faced (which I'm told is the prevailing wind) are generally the shorter holes, so the "reachable" par 5s and long par 4s generally may not in fact be reachable. In my experience, the slope and rating would be fair for this course if there was no wind, but the wind makes this course much more difficult.

I opted to walk and was informed that you can only walk during the offseason (I was told my round was on the final day of the offseason, so I was good to go). However, I quickly noticed that there are essentially no yardage markers anywhere on the course. As someone who doesn't own a GPS and prefers to play without one (I feel it takes away from the mental challenge of the game a bit), I was disappointed that a course of this stature (and price) didn't have what seems like a simple and common feature of most courses nowadays. I got a cart for the back nine, which comes complete with GPS, and I no longer had to guess.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience and I'm sure I will be back. I really only subtracted for the lack of yardage markers and for the fact that it played a lot tougher than the scorecard with the winds; granted that it was very windy, but I believe that is not unusual at this course. I would've thought there was a chance for that to be "standard conditions" such that it actually impacted the slope and rating.

Great offseason conditions and challenging but playable layout

The course is in excellent shape for early February. Greens had a few marks that people didn't fix and were pretty sandy, but they played very fair. Everything else was browned, but that's to be expected, and rough and fairways were still maintained to proper lengths.

The layout was interesting and challenging without being unfair or overly difficult. For example, there are many holes with pretty drastic elevation changes (i.e. hitting from a tee to an elevated landing area) but none felt gimmicky or silly. All very believable and playable. The greens didn't play very fast, but I heard they can be brutal during the season.

Decent in every aspect but great value

I enjoy the layout at FC even though it is not the most challenging. There are some interesting holes, particularly on the back nine. It is very much a course where strategic players can play well. There are a lot of shorter holes that don't allow you to hit driver due to hazards, so a solid long iron/hybrid/wood game is a must. Greens are generally VERY quick and dry out quickly after rain, so it's important to miss on the right side of the pin when hitting into the greens. This, coupled with the fact that there isn't a whole lot of trouble off the tees, really makes this a second-shot course. Can be very fun and very easy to score if you hit it straight. Not much rough to speak of, and conditions are generally favorable even if the course isn't the most immaculately maintained in the area.

The Player's Club is a spectacular deal if you live in the area. It's roughly $30 a month for $20 worth of range balls (two large buckets, about 200 balls) per day and discounts on greens fees all day through the website (only pay the $10 cart fee after 3 PM during the season). You also get entry into free PC members-only clinics with the pro. Also there is a great lunch special included in the greens fees for all players (not just PC) on weekend mornings -- $40 for range balls, play, and a burger or hotdog/chips/drink at the turn.

Quick tip: #10 is the hardest green on the course in my opinion. Make sure to hit the front of the green in the middle unless the pin is ALL the way in the back (it rarely is). Green slopes hard from back to front and funnels into the middle. If you miss above the hole, you will 3-putt.

Best course in the area

Wish it was a little cheaper, but definitely the best course I've found in the Nashville area. I would recommend going after 1 PM in season and 11 AM in the offseason; if you want to walk, they'll subtract the $15 cart fee and allow you to walk but only after those times. At the end of the day, $80 is a bit steep for public golf. They do have a play four rounds and get one free deal, but it's only within the calendar year, so wait until January if you're thinking of going for the first time. Course conditions wouldn't be a problem, as the course was in great shape. Greens were fair but had lots of rollout; not necessarily quick off the putter face but the ball rolls a few feet more than you think on every putt. Always a great idea to learn the greens and pick an approach club that will leave you below the hole.

Layout had a lot of different style holes and I thought the course was challenging but very fair and gettable. Not very demanding off the tee except for a few holes, and holes 13 and 14 play much longer than they look to the eye. Great course -- don't be afraid to take some chances to end up with a great score for the day!

Fun, challenging layout

The course had a lot of unique holes due to hazards, woods, and elevation. The course drained very well, as it was quite wet and actually rained for the first two holes, but the course played beautiful. Very fair and gettable for strong players but generally forgiving for less experienced players. The two nines are very different, with the front feeling almost links style at times and the back going up to one of the highest points in town. Definitely check this course out!

Great layout, good conditions

This course is great value for the money, especially on a GolfNow Hot Deal. There aren't any drastic elevation changes (course is very walkable) but still are some hills that play substantially uphill or downhill. A lot of very different holes with unique challenges, shot selections, etc. Greens were in great shape for this time of year. This is my second time playing this year and I will be back in the future.

Interesting layout, difficult but playable

Course was in decent shape for late October and the greens were fantastic. I liked the layout a lot, as there are a variety of hole shapes, lengths, etc. I didn't feel like I was playing the same hole over and over again. A putting green would be nice (someone in the clubhouse informed me that they are planning on building one), and the clubhouse is decent but simple. I would appreciate if the fairways were trimmed a little tighter to really give you a benefit for being in them.

Don't play until the greens are replaced

The greens are solid dirt. There is no grass (except for a spare few weeds) on probably 16 of the 18 greens. Impossible to putt reasonably when your line is blocked by a bunch of crab grass. Also putts and approach shots could not hold on a hill and consistently rolled down to valleys because of the lack of grass. If I were the course management, I would be embarrassed to allow people to play this course with the greens in this condition. When I discussed briefly with someone in the clubhouse, it sounded as though it's just a result of the extreme heat, but no other courses around have greens in this condition, so I wonder why more hasn't been done to make this situation better. The rest of the course was in great shape, especially considering the amount of recent rain.

I enjoyed the layout except for a few silly holes. One hole can play as both a par 4 and a par 3. We played it as a par three and it's a ridiculous 50 foot drop off from the tee box on a 150 yard shot. I have no idea how you'd play it as a par 4 given that there is essentially no fairway. There's also another par 3 (I believe it's #16) with a silly elevation change. You can't even see the green from the blue/white tee box.

Overall, I will not be back to this course. I can find Hot Deals for other courses in the area that are WAY nicer for comparable prices.

Quality Layout, but not overly challenging

The course was laid out nicely and had enough terrain/mounds/bunkers/hazards/etc. to be challenging yet still very manageable. I never felt like I was playing the same hole twice. The course was also in great shape. For my first time at the course, it helped me to play with someone that knew the course and had a GPS, but it's not imperative.
