The St. Anne's Club
Played On 10/24/2021Good Layout, Spotty Conditions
This course has a good layout, with a good amount of water, tall grass and dunes. The greens can be tough to play. My issue was the conditions. The tees were OK and the fairways were good but the greens were lacking. They had burned out spots and need attention. Maybe they need more time to grown in.

This course has a good layout, with quite a bit of water on the front 9, some dunes and tall grass. It is challeniging with tough greens,. My only issue was conditioning; the tees were OK, fairways were good but the greens need more attention as quite a few had some burned out spots. Maybe it needs more time to grow in.

Played On 05/28/2021Great, Well Conditioned Course
I've been playing this course ever since it opened. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's set in beautiful, rolling Amish farmland. You'll definitely see and hear some horse & buggies go by during your round. The course is inviting and challenging; it's not going to kill you for mis-hits but you must strike the ball well to score. It's a good course to play if you're starting out your season and want something manageable to play before you progress to more difficult courses or are going to play a few days in a row and start out at a not too tough course. The condition of the course every time I've played has been from very good to perfect. The staff there too is very courteous and helpful and really care about the course and your experience there.

Played On 05/23/2021Tight, Scenic Course
I've played this course only once, given that it's about a one hour drive from where I live. But I liked it and will be back. It's tight and you might want to keep your driver in your bag on some holes. The course wanders through some wetland areas and over gullies. The greens are generally small so you'll need to plan your approach shots carefully.

Played On 09/27/2020Beautiful, Tough Course-Condition Needs Improving
This course has some beautiful views and very challenging holes. The fairways plunge up and down and leave you with some tough approaches; if you miss, you need a very good short game to even have a chance at par (or bogey). The greens were in beautiful shape, however, the fairways had some bare patches as did some of the tees. It is definitely worth playing but if they improve the overall conditions it will be a solid 10.
Downingtown Country Club
Played On 06/02/2018This is a traditional parkland style course that is not heavily wooded but has enough trees to require accurate shots. The greens are moderately to heavily bunkered and the slopes on the greens
require proper placement of approach shots if you want to score well. Conditions were excellent with no visible flaws on the greens. Some minor drawbacks are no driving range (although they have a couple of nets you can hit into) and no real practice green, although they are building a large practice green that looks like it will be ready soon.

Played On 05/26/2017A Decent Municipal Course
This is a good course for the beginning to average golfer. Better golfers and big hitters might not find it too challenging. The green complexes are interesting with interesting bunkering and there are some very good par 3's. Conditions were excellent, and I didn't see any rough patches or bad spots on the greens. There is a very good restaurant/bar at the course and it's a good place for a post round meal and drink.

Played On 04/14/2017A Challenging Course, Interesting Design and Good Conditions
This course was at one time a private country club but then turned public. The layout is challenging with the back nine more difficult than the front, it has more trees and more ravines that come into play. It's not necessarily a beginning golfer's course but is suitable for the intermediate to advanced golfer. We paid only $38 on Good Friday (must've been a pre-season rate) and conditions were very good.

Played On 09/05/2016Awesome Course
I played this course three times the week of Labor Day with a buddy. The course is awesome-both visually stunning and a stern test of golf. The course conditions-tees, fairways and greens were perfect and the service was top notch. Everyone was very courteous and helpful and the cart girls came around at least twice per nine holes. Now, some tips on playing the course: first you must be able to get off the tee, your drive doesn’t need to be monster long but it should be a respectable length and accuracy; if not, you either a) won’t be able to see the green or b) won’t have any kind of reasonable angle to approach the green. Second, the rough will add about one to two club lengths to your shot-so stay out of it; and third, if you're going to miss a green, miss it to the "good" side, because missing on the wrong side means a very tough recovery.
Hi MikeCfromPA,
Thank you for your five star review! We are so happy to know you chose our course three times during your week. We hope to see you back again soon!

Played On 10/24/2015Good Course with Character
How's this for a late review? I actually played this course in June 2015 but am just now writing my review. I played this course after an eight year layoff from golf. The course is a Donald Ross design in the middle of the Philly suburbs. We went out on a Saturday morning and had no issues with pace of play. The course is challenging enough for most golfers-there are enough trees and water hazards to keep you honest, but it's not so tough that most golfers can't enjoy it. Condition was not great but acceptable enough, given the price.
Did I miss something? Did we play the same course?
