Stonewall Orchard Golf Club
Played On 04/02/2016When the price is right only.
I'll play this course for $55 early Spring rate but won't spend the $95 they charge on weekends in season. It just isn't that good of a course. I don't like the design of several of the holes, especially the goofy third shot on the par 5 eighteenth which has to fly a couple of real stupid mounds that front the green, blocking your view of the landing area which is fairly small with water behind left, right and long. I am not long enough for this course's forced carries on some holes and even though I am fairly accurate I lose balls on this course more than usual. I've moved up to the 6,000 yard tees but I still don't really enjoy a round on this course. If I was a better golfer, I guess I might like the challenge but this place beats me up and and I don't get a good feeling about my price/ value experience. And cold, windy weather with carts restricted to the path didn't help either.
Fresh Meadow Golf Course
Played On 08/23/2015No maintenance
The worst tee boxes I have ever seen. Have never seen so many dead trees. Greens slow and beat up. Weed laden fairways. Some greens had holes in them that were uncovered sprinklers. Severely needs care and attention. Now I understand why they had open $49 tee times on a Sunday morning. Won't be going back unless there is a management change. I thought this was Jemsek course at one time. They would be shocked to see it now.
Highland Woods Golf Course
Played On 08/15/2015Too Slow
First time for my foursome here and probably the last on a Saturday. Putting tee times 7 minutes apart on a Saturday is crazy. We started our 8:07 am tee time at 8:23am already two groups behind first thing in the morning and it was slow all day because of too many people on the course. Nearly a five hour round, waiting on every shot, never saw a Marshall to monitor speed of play. Besides, the issue was not the speed of the players, the problem was just too many players put out too close together. We really liked the course but it is unlikely we will be back, especially on a weekend until they go to 10 minute tee times.
Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that pace of play impacted your round. We are currently working on a pace of play program to implement in order to speed things up on the course. We appreciate your review and look forward to having you back to play again soon.
Steeple Chase Golf Club
Played On 06/06/2015Be realistic on slow play
When you start a whole hole behind a group and never see them and the people behind you are not ever waiting on you, there should not be three marshal visits telling you to speed up and close up the gap because you are holding up play. The gap was created by the start times, not our pace of play. We started with an open hole in front of us. My group got very upset at being pushed until we started waiting on the group ahead of us for the last four holes. My partners told me they don't want me to book Steeplechase any more, because this type of oversight makes play less fun. Ordinarily on a Saturday morning when play is almost always backed up we welcome a marshal lighting a fire under a slow group but we are not that group. A marshal should be aware when a gap is caused by starting times, not slow players. At least two guys in this group will not ever play here again.
Countryside Golf Club - Prairie Course
Played On 08/24/2014Just one complaint
I play this course a lot and have always considered it to be a good value for what you get but I do have one complaint. They don't make any handicapped exceptions for when they are cart path only, and they do it quite a bit. I had to cancel twice so far this year because they don't grant any blue flag exceptions to their cart path only policy. I have a bad hip that really won't allow me to walk too much and have even more problems when it is hilly around tees and greens.
I talked to their superintendent and he says that granting any exceptions just leads to everyone ignoring the rule. I would think that the handicapped laws would force them to make some accomodations but they don't .
Faldo at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge Resort
Played On 7/19/2013Too tough if you are even a little inaccurate.
Too hard even from middle tees, too much sand and difficult bunkering. Greens did not putt too well, too grainy. Not particularly enjoyable if you spend all day in the sand. And extremely high lips make it hard to exit the bunker. Even finding a low spot to enter and exit the traps is difficult. Faldo needs to learn to design courses for everyone not just the pros.
South at Boulders Golf Club & Resort
Played On 7/18/2013Not the best in the valley
Hated the sand in the bunkers, not sand, gravel.
Some areas over watered but greens were great.
I think Troon north is a better course.
We appreciate the feedback regarding the difficulty of the course, it is one of the more testing layouts in the area. We have hosted multiple US Open Qualifiers, are one of the host sites of the Illinois PGA Section Championship and are hosting a Web.com qualifier in June. General customer feedback is the more times you play, the more familiar and enjoyable it becomes. Please check our website as we do offer off-peak rates during the season. We hope to see you again and thank you for your feedback.
