Silver Brooke Golf Club
Played On 08/26/2023Still a Hidden Gem
Even with a tremendous downpour throughout the morning - our tee off time in the mid-afternoon found the entire course in absolute perfect condition. Hats off to the grounds crew for keeping this hidden gem in great shape all season.
Still one of the best courses to walk and be challenged by the overall layout.
Silver Brooke Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2022Better Than You Think
I live in the area and play this course usually 7 to 8 times a year. Given the extreme drought we have experienced this summer, I applaud the grounds keeping staff with be able to keep this hidden gem in near pristine condition.
The fairways and green were immaculate!
I have a hard time saying anything positive about Silber Brooke because I just don't want too many others to find out and ruin it. Alas, to be honest, Silver Brooke - Dollar for dollar - is without a doubt the best course in the area.
Springwater Golf Course
Played On 08/23/2020Depends how you look at it!
The course itself is not a bad course but the fact that there is no Marshall or starter proves to be a huge disadvantage when playing this course.. The fact that they let groups of 5 and 6 people go out together really slows everyone behind them. Every hole today had a wait and became somewhat frustrating by the back 9. For the money you pay you could play at a course that is better managed. Also the claim of proper golf attire is a joke as people were out there today in t-shirts and cargo jean shorts, this too was not addressed by staff.
Glen Eagle Golf Club - Blue/Yellow
Played On 09/25/2017Perfect Course
i don't typically write reviews but when the course is this good...i have to! It was my first time playing Glen Eagle (Red to Blue) and my only negative words is the distance you have to ride back to the clubhouse when you finish hole #9 of the Blue Course, Perhaps better signage would also make it easier to navigate (for 1st timers like me!!) Aside to that, the course conditions at Glen Eagle were spectacular! To that point, i sincerely do not believe I even saw ONE "weed" anywhere on the course. Typically the $$ here is a little out of my budget but thanks to being a Golfnow VIP and a discount here and there i was able to finally get on this course. It will definitely be in my plans for the future and I HIGHLY recommend this course...even if you have to save your loose change for a bit to pay for it (at regular rates) like I will be doing. :)
Cranberry Golf Course
Played On 06/17/2017Service Top Notch
This was my first time playing the course at Cranberry and I was thoroughly impressed. Not only with the views of the entire area from the course but the course itself is a welcoming challenge (even to the seasoned golfer) but the staff are TOP NOTCH! It may be because they knew I was not a "member" and was just visiting the area or that is t
Northern Dunes Golf Club
Played On 06/13/2017Not a Dune in Sight!
According to Webster's, a "dune" is a hill or ridge of sand piled up by the wind...not very complimentary when thinking about a golf course and nowhere near the descriptor I would use to review this gem of a course.
Northern Dune will surprise even the most seasoned golfer. The front nine uses a mixture of tight fairways to test your accuracy off the tee but you will be rewarded (or recover if needed) by spacious greens that are very well maintained and can run fast...beware! The back nine features wider landing spots for the big boomers out there. However, given the location of the course, keep your big booming drives below the tree tops or suffer the fate of the prevailing winds that will surely carry into fescue which may require a homing device if you want to find that ball!
All in all, a very pleasant track for the experienced, weekly or even beginning golfer.
Rolling Hills Golf Club - Classic
Played On 08/22/2016Club Link Course...?
When I was able to get the opportunity to play on a "famed" Club Link Course on a great Golfnow deal I jumped at it. While the price was right, somebody needs to teach this facility time management! My tee time was delayed almost 40 full minutes? I sat at the first tee and watched the starter make a mess of twosomes & foursomes starting off with some walkers & riders mixed in each group?!?! What a mess! It totally screwed the overall playing time. Who finished the front 9 but then has to cross over no less than three fairways to get a snack at the clubhouse?? The grounds were immaculate& very representative of the reputation a Club Link Course is known for. But the layout is extremely tight. You would be smart to wear a hard hat...& That is no joke. If a course is that busy they should make carts mandatory & a marshal or two to keep people moving wouldn't hurt either. It's not a course for the experienced golfer far too busy & so unorganised it ruins the pleasure to play on a very well maintained course. Oh, and the sand traps...forget it!! The pretty swirling rake marks is not enough to call them truly sand traps. Highly NOT RECOMMENDED.
Shanty Bay Golf and Country Club - Klondike
Played On 08/20/2016A True Pleasure & Challenge
Overall, well maintained course & very slick greens. Although there are several blind shots on the Klondike course the layout is straightforward and will force even the experienced golfer to be in control of your fairway woods long iron shots. Highly recommended!
Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club
Played On 08/13/2016The 18th is a Brilliant Beast!
Played "Twin Creek" for the first time. Although a little wet for the first 9 (lots of rain) at the turn it dried up nicely to make the back was very pleasant. The back 9 by the way, is a spectacular set up. The entire course presents challenges throughout but I don't think there is another beast like the 18th anywhere in the area. Greens in great shape dispute the long drought this season and the fairways played nice well. Well worth the drive & the price! As for the 18th....simply a beast of 519yrds over TWO gorges/valleys to an elevated 32yrd green. Leave your pride in the bag & play it smart to appreciate the design. Thanks for the free coffee & tea after the front nine to the owner...helped to warm us up from the rain and warm us to return very soon. Highly recommended!
Harbour View Golf and Country Club
Played On 11/05/2015Worth the drive
So what if it's a little off the beaten path.... Who cares if YOU drive too fast past the train tracks you miss the entrance.... Does it matter that when it's busy the parking lot I a little crowded.... You're here for the golf!! Dollar for dollar, the best course in the Barrie area... PERIOD?
Trehaven Golf and Country Club
Played On 10/10/2015Stop & Stay a While
A quick 1 minute off Hwy #11 near Hawkstone ON lays a course more than appropriate for the average golfer. Very well maintained for this time of year...makes me wonder what it looks like mid-season? :) Take a break on your way through to the cottage you will be glad you did.
Innisfil Creek Golf Course
Played On 10/07/2015Hidden Gem
Great improvements since I last played here 3yrs ago. Although still "wide open" the course no longer plays like aa traditional 'links' course. The maintenance of the fairways prevents your old 60 or 70ft putts! Overall, great value & bang for your buck.
Cardinal Lakes Golf Club - Sparrow Course
Played On 07/04/2015Worth the drive off the beaten path!
First time to the Niagara area & took advantage of a "Hot Deal" on Golfnow & couldn't be happier that we did! Staff at The Sparrow are very welcoming & friendly. They had no issue adjusting my scheduled tee time over the phone when I informed them I was gonna be late. Upon arrival, members who obviously knew I was not from the area were quick to give advice on how to play certain holes, which is always a bonus when new to a course. The course itself very well maintained! Fairways are a little narrow but that is part of the charm & challenge of the Sparrow. Greens were in perfect shape & at least 16 of them caused me pause prior to each putt. All in all, a great day of golf in just about 4hrs. Highly recommended!
Silver Brooke Golf Club
Played On 08/21/2014A Hidden Gem
I am reluctant to write a favourable review of Silver Brooke for fear more people will find out about this " hidden gem" of a course. I have no fear however the staff would not be able to handle the increased business as they are all superb and provide a great overall experience! Alas, Silver Brooke provides the best bang for your buck compared to any other course in the area. The unique combination of a traditional North American layout on the front nine & the challenge of a links design on the back, provides enough challenge for your seasoned golfer & enough fun for the weekend hackers. Don't tell anyone else about Silver Brooke...let's keep this gem just between us!
Thank you for the review! We hope to see you again soon.
