Hedingham Golf Club
Played On 11/25/2018Has potential
I would file this one under "has potential if they just invested some money into it."
The layout was decent with a handful of fun shots (the suffocating neighborhood built around the course notwithstanding). And the greens were actually quite good and fast (dormant bermuda). But the rest of the course was patchy turf, dirt spots and unplayable bunkers. Chipping was very difficult because of the turf conditions around the greens. I got the sense that if they pumped some money into it to improve the conditions, it could be a terrific course. But at the end of the day, I can't complain because I paid less than $30 to play. So the "what you get compared to what you pay" value was fair in my eyes.
Riverwood Golf Club - Deer Run/Riverview Course
Played On 09/09/2018Great course
Played here for the first time and loved everything about it. Staff was super friendly and went out of their way to help me. Course was in great shape. Both fairways and greens were nice. Fun layout that is a little different than most other courses in the area. Played in 3 hours on a weekend afternoon, which is unheard of at most other courses around. Also a nice little practice facility. I will definitely be back. If it weren't a 45 minute drive from my house I would play here all the time. Great value for the money.

Quaker Creek Golf Course
Played On 09/08/2018Fun little course
Played here for the first time recently and overall really enjoyed it. Some of the greens were struggling a little bit (bent grass and it's late summer so it's understandable). But the fairways were in excellent shape. Ball just sat up perfectly on the grass. The layout is fun. Some semi-blind tee shots so it's a little hard the first time not knowing exactly where to hit it on some holes. This place has some old-school charm about it. If I lived closer I would definitely play it again as it was a good value for the money.
Keith Hills Golf Club - White Course
Played On 09/01/2018Great value ... sloooooow play
I play here on a pretty regular basis because I really like the course, they keep it in great shape and dollar-for-dollar it's probably the best value you'll find anywhere (I rarely ever pay more than $30 to play here and the course is seriously nice with GPS on the carts too).
That being said, the pace of play at this place is just atrocious. They use 9-minute tee time intervals and pair everyone together to make threesomes and foursomes and then send them off with no starter or no ranger. It creates a huge traffic jam and leads to 5-hour rounds consistently. Yes, slow play is a problem at courses everywhere but it seems especially to be the case here. During my most recent 5-hour round I asked a maintenance worker if there were any rangers out on the course. He said "Nope, not today." This was on a Saturday at about 1:00 in the afternoon.
I really wish they would do something -- anything -- to address the chronic problem of long rounds at this place because other than that it is a TERRIFIC golf course and a tremendous value.
