Better hit it straight.

While all the other courses in the area seem to be punched or are charging $100+ for a weekend round, this was a gem to find. Fairways in great shape. Greens appear to have been aerated prior to all the rains so they recovered great. Tee boxes all seemed level and very playable.

What I didn’t realize was you need to be pretty accurate off most tee boxes. The trees and houses are ready to take any errant shot and dispatch them wherever they like. Local knowledge is definitely a plus here so you know “where not to hit it”.

5 hours on Saturday seem to be the norm on SoCal public courses. But still felt like they bunched tee times a bit too close. But for only $60, on a Saturday, I’ll definitely be back.

Fun round

Went and played in a constant light rain. Took us a little over 4 hours to finish with our foursome. The greens were in really good shape, except for one that seems to have a virus on it. Fairways were decent, rough was consistent, and tee boxes were a bit overgrown. For the $55 we paid, it’s worth it. Much more than that and there are better out there.

Course is in really good shape

4.5hr round. Teed off at 7:20 and got paired with two others. The course is true risk/reward. If you “go for it” and don’t make it, you will be punished. I recommend knowing where to be on the greens as they are fast and there are some undulating greens that make for tough putts. Overall, it’s one of my favorite courses in SoCal.

Typical Socal Saturday Round

1st let me say this is not an indictment on the conditions of the course. It’s in very good shape with some of the typical Socal burn in the fairways you get in summer. Greens are great, tee boxes were fine, and even bunkers were better than most out here.

The ONE thing that is maddening is how every weekend round out here is guaranteed to be 6+ hours. Group ahead waiting for green to clear than diffs it 30 yards. Ready golf is not a concept a lot of people even consider.

I hate when people try give a bad review cause they didn’t hit well. I hit ok, but the waiting for literally every shot gets a bit tiresome.

Anyways, fun course. Challenging, yet fair. Know your yardage folks.

Fun course

Fun course. Links style. Fairways are a bit sparse, greens were lightning, but you can tell they are working on both. Love the layout of the course. Worth the hour drive for me.

First timers..... Beware

I can’t express the title enough. If you don’t know where to hit, it’s gonna be tough. That is in no way a knock on the course. The conditions, especially for 105°+ were perfect. Only saw one green with any damage due to the heat. While it’s not the longest course, you will find yourself with plenty of long shots. Tee off early, as the wind will wreck havoc on your score. The wife and I got paired up with a father son duo who have played here numerous times. That helped tremendously. I 100% will be back again now that I know the layout.

Best conditions around

Played this and got paired up with another twosome. Finished in just over 4 hours. I can honestly say, these are the best conditions you will find in the I.E. during these summer months. All for $60!! There was only one hole, I think 15(?), that had dead area on the fairway. Speaking of fairways, make sure to hit them. The rough is deceptively tough. On hole 16 our cart decided it had enough for the day and started to die. We called, and within 5 minutes, we had a new cart! It was a fresh, sanitized cart too! Will definitely be back!! Thanks for the great time!!

Second time and was a little disappointed.

The wife and I played here a week after playing for the first time. It was a mild 94° when we played, but that’s not my complaint. I know during these times you won’t please everyone. I understand the need to remove the water jugs from the course. I also, understand the need to really almost over water during the hot times. The only gripe, that the course could control, is that you didn’t know if it was cart path only or not until you were in the middle of the fairway. Just gotta put some signs up, or tell us at the start. Other than that, I love the course. Really have to plan where to land the ball. Landing on the green isn’t always the best course of action. Will definitely play again.

Home course but needs help

I have played here at least 50 times over the last few years. I can say I have seen it in worse condition, but I’ve also seen it in much better. The greens are in great shape. However, the fairways are dead in a lot of places. There is no separation from fairway and rough. Traps are typical for Socal(hard). Everyone is nice and usually you can play in 4-4 1/2 hours. This is a mile from my house and usually very accessible. I enjoy playing here cause it’s short but really challenging. If you don’t hit it straight, you will guarantee a side hill lie. Play it because it is fun.

Get ready for a Challenge

I will say that the 2 hour drive was a bear. However, once we were there, it was well worth it. I have played all over SoCal, Hawaii, NV, as well as the rest of the Southwest, this was a treat and a beast at the same time. I can not express in words properly how difficult, but fair, this course is. Once you realize that your 7 iron(155yards for me) will roll out to 175, you really need to change your approach. Everything rolls!! Greens are fast, and probably some of the hardest to read I have ever played.

As far as conditions. The tee boxes were excellent! Fairways(the ones I found) were in really good shape. It’s a links style, so do not be thinking it’s gonna be lush green fairways. However, they were in great shape.
The greens were in phenomenal shape, except for a few ball marks that people can’t seem to fix for themselves.
Bunkers, that is the real pinnacle of the course. Not the condition, they were above average for SoCal, but the locations. If you “go for it” and you aren’t dead on, you inevitably find one. They are strategically located they out the course.
Pace of play. Teed off at 9:02 on Thursday and was done by 12:20.

In summary, play this course! It’s a drive. It’s inconvenient. It’s not cheap. But it is worth all the frustrations. I have never enjoyed getting my, you know what, handed to me more!

Nicest Course I've Ever Played

I have had the pleasure to play many wonderful courses, from Plantation, to Trump National, to Monarch Beach. That being said, Eagle Falls has officially made it to the nicest course I have ever played. I stay at a resort next to Terra Lago and have always played that course. This time, I wanted to venture out a bit. My Brother and I teed off at 7:08 and the temperature was around 85 degrees. Took us 3 hours and 15 minutes to finish. Every single aspect of the course was top notch. Practice facilities to the greens, everything looked and played like it was ready to host a PGA event. The only gripe(if there must be one) is that the clubhouse is a trailer. However, the Casino is right there. I will 100% be making this a "must play" when we come to the desert!

Middle of Summer, No problem!!

I teed off this morning at 6:30, and I was done by 9:45. The course is in phenomenal shape, especially for the extreme heat that Mesquite has been dealing with. This is my second time playing here, and each time, I don’t care about my score. While it is a wide open course, it definitely punishes errant shots. Remember that you’ll get extra yardage in the heat.

Trees Galore!

If you have a hard time keeping it straight, your gonna have a bad time. Almost every fairway is tree lined. In the summer/spring it isn't so bad finding your ball in the woods. But when the leaves fall in Autumn, look out! Played in the afternoon and the winds started going pretty good at the turn. All in all, a fun course if you hit straight and get a good deal. Under $30 is when its worth it.

Risk vs Reward

This course truly is a risk/reward type of course. We played from the whites as I am a 20+ and was presented with several shots that made me think about it. Greeens were really tough to read. The "rules" of break don't seam to apply here. The October special they run includes a free sleeve of ProVs. I loved the course and the cart lady Aimee was awesome. Very friendly and attentive to our needs. Will definitely be back.

Long long long round

Challenging and fun, but be prepared for a 5 hour round. They allow 5 somes and it really clogs the course up. Greens are in good shape. Fairways have some dead spots, and the rough was in decent shape. Sand was rock hard. More like hitting of a dirt trail.

Hidden gem

Fun course with dramatic views of the south land. The greens are half sanded right now, but the pin was in te healthy parts of the green. Do yourself a favor and leave your driver in the car.
