Foxford Hills Golf Club
Played On 07/01/2017One of the best public courses ...
First time playing @ Foxford. Although is quite a drive for me; it was definitely worth it. Great value for a great course. Each hole layout is unique. Some holes leave you room for errors and others require precision. Due to the some rain the night before, the greens were soft yet quite fast and receptive. Bunkers are tactically placed through the course to provide some challenges...but sometimes bunkers can save you a stroke or two.
The pace of play was great for Saturday early tee time. Never once we had to wait for the 4-some ahead of us. This is definitely a hidden gem. Thanks to the maintenance crews that upkeep the course...Great job!!!
I hate being on a course where the maintenance crew are all over the course mowing the grass, and etc...it was just us 4 and the course.
I will be coming back...take advantage of the well priced rate during the weekday. I recommend this course. I would compare Foxford to Thunderhawk.
Indigo Lakes Golf Club
Played On 03/28/2017Back to Indigo Lakes
Came back to Daytona Beach for Spring Break. Played at Indigo Lakes last year. I don't know how the fairway should be during this time of the year in Florida; but lots of send under the grass. On Hole 11 Par 5 shot an Eagle chip. Unfortunately no witnesses except for a beautiful hawk. It's a simple course with a good layout. All 18 greens were in great condition. I was deciding between the LPGA courses and other local courses, but decided to come back to Indigo.
The Eagles Golf Club - Forest
Played On 12/28/2016Better Than Being in Chicago
First and foremost...greens were great. But rest of the course was just average. Tee boxes and the fairways needed much trimming. But I will not complain too much because it's far better playing here than at home in Chicago. Bunkers in great shape. Sand is soft and responds to shots well.
The course is pretty straight forward; nothing too tricky. I would have played the Lake course but there was an outing. I will recommend to others to take a shot on both courses.
Sunset Valley Golf Club
Played On 09/30/2016$4 - for 18...System Glitch? Anyhow, course played great!!!
Due to some system glitch, I paid $4 for 18 at Sunset Valley. It was cloudy with off/on drizzles. The entire course from tee to green was in great shape. The staff did a tremendous job cleaning all the leaves; I did not see a leaf on any of the greens. The the ball rolled true on all the greens. Although part of the bunkers were filled with water from the rain, the fairs were in great shape. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Bella Vista Golf Course
Played On 08/12/2016Great Course!!!
Our 2nd year in Coldwater, MI. First time playing at the Bella Vista. The course is in great shape; the greens were soft and true. The course is well maintained. Weekend rate starts on Friday (not Saturday). Friendly staff. Played back tee (just over 7000). Recommended!!!
Midlane Country Club
Played On 04/16/2016Sloped Geens
Must admit even after playing this course fair amount of times, the greens remain challenging. Not only are the pins placed strategically but the fast greens get faster as the sun dry up the morning dew.
Midlane is not the most difficult course but it definitely can be challenging. Need to be ring A short game in order to put up a decent score.
It was $35 w/ cart for weekend...can't beat the price.
Deerfield Golf Club
Played On 04/09/2016Played in 38F, Felt like 28F
First time out this season at Deerfield GC. Think everyone must have been home watching The Masters. The course was empty. $20 to walk the course. It was upper 30's but definitely felt like upper 20's. Make sure bundle up.
The course was in excellent condition. The entire course was free of debris and leaves. The tee to green was incredible despite the cold and snow we've had past few days.
The greens rolled true and fast. Played under 3 hours.
It's ridiculous that a park district course will charge $75 for the weekend even after the greens have been aerated and sanded. It's a good course but doesn't compare with Thunderhawk or Stonewall Orchard. Deerfield Park District is price gouging! Will never play or even recommend to anyone to play here for $75. Wait for the weekday and hot deals and play for what's really worth $25 - $35.
Chalet Hills Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2015Me and my Boys
Got Hot Deal for $15 so took my two boys out. The started was great - pulled up to me and say whenever you are ready - tee off. The course was in top shape minus the divots and ball marks that weren't fixed by players. My boys played about 9 holes and I played 18. The fairways were in great shape; the greens rolled fast. It was a windy day and must admit played a bit challenging. With the leaves falling, all the greens were cleared of leaves. It's about 50 min drive for me and it was worth playing with my boys and not feel rushed to finished by certain time. Recommend it and will come back.
Nothing like getting to take in the course with your boys. We're appreciate you guys making the drive out and we're glad you enjoy the course! We hope to see you out again soon!
Sunset Valley Golf Club
Played On 08/15/2015Overpriced....But Got Great Deal!!!!
2nd time playing at Sunset Valley GC this season. Haven't had a reason to play here because the rate has been high all season. I don't understand why the rates are so high in mid 50's for an average golf course - cart needs GPS.
Beside rate and GPS; the course played very well. The fairway were well maintained; the greens were soft, receptive and ball rolled. Personally this is the best Sunset Valley has played in a long time. I really enjoyed it today.
I had a 1:18 PM tee time but arrived about :45 min early so I was paired up with two lovely ladies and tee-ed off at 1:03 PM. Got a great deal via Hot Deal $18 + service charge (which I hate). I definitely recommend Sunset Valley but make sure you don't pay too much for it.
I think with cart Sunset Valley should range in the mid 30's but it's over 50. If you can get a great rate during the week or weekend; get it and get out there and take advantage of the great course conditions.
South at Thunderbird Hills Golf Course
Played On 08/13/2015Rolling Hills
Family vacation to Kalahari. I was looking for early tee time and Thunderbird was closest with early tee time. Played the North course. Walk-able course with rolling hills and matures trees. Fairway needs better up keep but playable. Course needs better signage postings. Greens are in excellent shape and some of the greens are tough with slopes and breaks. I would only recommend this course due to quick pace of play in the early hours of the day. Following behind me after 4 or 5th hole was a women's league. Friendly staff. Not as scenic as I expected.
Bittersweet Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2015Great day to be out for 18...
We are 2nd to tee off at 6:09 AM Staff as well professional. Great value for Friday morning - $30 w/ Cart. Fortunately, I was covered by my brother in law - he owed me one.
Anyhow, the course was in great condition. Fairways were well maintained but ball would bounce instead of roll due to tough ground. Green were fair but lots of unfixed ball marks. C'mon players, please fix ball mark always.
Overall played within 3 hours. Shot 85. Lost only 2 balls.
Sunset Valley Golf Club
Played On 07/30/2014Hot Deal @ Sunset Valley GC
First time playing @ Sunset Valley this year. Finally found a hot deal on Golfnow.com for $18 w/ cart. Can't beat it. At least in the northshore area of Chicago. Weather was perfect. Clear skies with a little bit of wind. Greens are soft with nice rolls. Pin placement was fair to moderate in difficulty. Pace of play was slow first 9 due to a 4-some that weren't your regular, average golfer. Thank goodness they only played the 9 holes. Back now was a breeze. Fairways are well maintained; the rough was easy to get out of. If and when I find another great deal, I will come back. Staff greeted me as soon as I walked in. I was to be paired with a 3-some but since I was a little early, I was allowed to go as a single. That was nice. Hope to come back soon.
Winnetka Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2014Tough Greens
Got a great deal for Saturday ($39 w/ cart). Can't beat the rate. Overall course was in good shape although there were many spots on the fairway that was roped off for repair or poo conditions.
Greens were fast. Hole placement was challenging at times but overall fair. Pace of play was great. We were first out @ 5:38 AM and we were cruising until we were asked to slow our pace to allow grounds keeper to work on the greens.
We finished 18-holes just under 3 hours. We were expecting thunderstorm but fortunately enough it came late in the morning. If I do see similar rate, will definitely come back.
Bonnie Brook Golf Course
Played On 06/21/2014Better Than Expected
Haven't played Bonnie Brook for a while so decided to give it a try. It's part of the Waukegan Park District; well kept. Early morning tee time and due to wet grass from previous day, the rough was tough. Had to keep club face square on impact, wet grass would grab club face. Hole locations was tough. Most of the holes were on slopes but birdies were there to grab. Overall course was well maintained. Staff greeted us and very friendly. Will definitely return to play - maybe when it's dry. Recommended!
Deerpath Golf Course
Played On 05/18/2014Suffering from tough winter....
played 3-some. there are 2 temporary greens that we were not warned about; both have large tarps covering the greens. fairways aren't bad. pace of play was within 4 hrs. except for the 2 temp. greens, other greens are in good shape.
Lake Bluff Golf Club
Played On 11/30/2013Great Course
The ground was pretty much frozen due to the cold weather but was able to tee with driver...staff handed me two bags of tees; no charge. Greens were also frozen but watch for some hard, bouncy landings. The course overall all free of leaves but beware of geese droppings. They roam at will.
Staff (one person) super friendly. Even invited me for cup of coffee after front 9. It was my first time at Lake Bluff. Can't wait until spring when there is better condition. Def recommended!!!
Chevy Chase Country Club
Played On 11/18/2013Not Bad for Late Fall
Today was cart path only due to the heavy rain we had yesterday. Fairway was clean of leaves and well maintained; if in the rough - good luck finding your ball. Greens have been recently aerated but no sand so balls rolled fairly well. The course was empty due to the high wind and cool temps so had the course pretty much to myself.
There were some flooded area(s) but did not alter game play. Usually $35 for early birds (no Hot Deals req.) but today found deal for $19 in Hot Deals.
Not too many days left before we get cold temps and snow. If you love to golf no matter weather condition, Chevy Chase is still open.
Def. recommended & will try to play again once water has receded and less wind chill.
Deerpath Golf Course
Played On 10/30/2013Mint Condition
Paid $24 thru Golfnow. The course was in mint condition both fairway and greens. Fast green. Fairway and greens were clean from leaves. I couldn't ask for a better day and condition of the course. If time permits will definitely return before it gets too cold.
Mission Hills Club
Played On 7/11/2013Needs care....
My first time playing at Mission Hills. It has been a private course for many years and recently open to public. It definitely has a retirement home feel to it.
The best part of this course is the green. Soft and well maintained. Fairway is descent. Miss left or right, means trouble. The course is narrow with lots of trees.
It's definitely not worth the price. At most this course rate should be $30 for 18 not $54/$39. I wouldn't recommend this course; unfortunately I would not be returning to play at Mission Hills.
Deerpath Golf Course
Played On 6/25/2012To Pricey!!!
The reason I give an overall 3 star and would not recommend to a friend is because of the steep rate. It is a descent course but not worth paying $50+. They need to lower the price.
Glad you saw great value playing at Midlane CC! We look forward to seeing you back for more. Glad the greens were challenging!
