I expected that playing on Labor Day would be busy, but this course was seriously overbooked with a mix of walkers and carts. The pace of play for the front was average for this mix at 2 hours, but the back nine took an hour to play 10-12 before coming to a complete stop at 13 with five groups standing around waiting to tee off.

Despite having a "course ranger" who checked us off at the first hole, he was nowhere to be seen to get things back on track. We left to salvage what was left of the holiday.

Lake Junaluska has the potential for being a good course with interesting holes and beautiful views of the lake and mountains, but we won't be back for a while.

We played the Grove Park Inn golf course in mid-December. The weather was perfect - low-70s - and the course was in great shape. The greens were fast and the fairways (all belt-grass) were perfect.

Kudos to Fred, the golf starter, was very friendly and knowledgeable.

The staff "managed" the start times and we were directed to the 1st tee five minutes ahead of schedule and just as the group ahead of us teed off. As we waited for them to move up the fairway, another group pulled behind us. The entire time was comprised of taking a shot, then waiting, as three groups played the same hole. It was excruciatingly slow paced and overcrowded. Don't waste your money...

We were paired with a couple from Canada who were equally matched with us. The course was nice and we had a good time.
