Briars Golf Club
Played On 05/19/2017A Relaxing Round
There's a laundry list of things I love about The Briars, among them is the laid back feel, allowing me to escape the regular rat-race hustle and bustle of life. With less than 400 playing members, getting a tee time is never a concern, and you can play along at your own pace (regardless of whether that's fast or slow).
With all the recent rain we've received the course was in spectacular shape, nicely manicured and vibrant green. Although I hacked my way around as per usual, it was a lot of fun to see my playing partner finish the round at -2 under.
The course is lined with huge mature trees that often overhang the fairways, making for some creative approach shots.
I look forward to my next round at The Briars.
Briars Golf Club
Played On 10/06/2016Beautiful Laid Back Course
Fantastic course. I've played here countless times, and don't think I'll ever get tired of playing here. It's a private course with less than 500 members, which makes for a dream pace of play. Although the course isn't overly long (6,285 yards from the tips), it's a great course to walk at your own pace.
The back is my personal favorite, once you cross over the bridge, it's like entering another world, beautiful river views, big mature trees. Course is typically well maintained and in great shape.
I look forward to playing here again.
Red Sands Golf Course
Played On 09/09/2016A fun 9 hole course
A nice 9 hole course, with a decent layout. The three finishing holes are my favorites. Reasonably priced and a nice option to squeeze in a quick round of golf while on vacation.
Glasgow Hills Resort and Golf Club
Played On 08/18/2016A must play on Prince Edward Island
If I had to choose one course on PEI to play over and over, Glasgow Hills would be it. I love the course layout, the elevation changes and the panoramic views. The course is challenging yet fair, providing an enjoyable experience for golfers of all ability. The clubhouse is fantastic and the views from the restaurant are excellent; the perfect place to enjoy a post round beverage along with the complimentary all you can eat mussels.
Glen Afton Golf Club
Played On 08/16/2016Farm field on the Ocean
I describe this course as a farm field on the ocean... If you're visiting PEI and looking for a cheap course to play before playing the flagship courses, this could be a good option. The rates are reasonable, but when I played the course was in very poor condition.
The course doesn't seem to cater much to tourists, and focused primarily on the local residents who seem to love playing here.
The course is very open and not much character with the exception of holes 11, 12 & 13 which are closest to the water and offer some beautiful views.
Mill River Golf Course
Played On 08/05/2016A nice course with amazing staff
Stayed on site at the resort for 5 days with my wife and 1 year old daughter and had an amazing time. Golf was great and plenty of other on-site activities for families. The staff were super friendly and accommodating making our stay a real pleasure. I would not hesitate to return to Mill River.
Cardinal Golf Club - West
Played On 07/07/2016Decent Course - Very Busy
I enjoy playing Cardinal Golf Club, nice course, good layout, although it's always VERY busy. They often have great deals for tee times, which creates an excellent 'bang for your buck' provided you don't mind a 5+ hour round.
Furry Creek Golf and Country Club
Played On 05/20/2016Perfect Combination of Alpine and Coastal Golf
Furry Creek is one of my all time favorite courses. The location is a little secluded, but makes for an amazingly unique setting. Nestled into the mountain side, the course features nice elevation changes, which I love. Combine the alpine feel, with the coastal/water front setting and it makes for some truly breathtaking views.
The weather was a little suspect while I was on site, but it didn't dampen the mood at all. I love the design/layout, and the course was in pristine condition.
The clubhouse/restaurant is also a must visit after your round offer amazing food and an epic view. One of the most unique clubhouses I've seen, as if it was carved out of the mountain itself.
Furry Creek is a diamond in the rough and a must visit.
Bigwin Island Golf Club
Played On 05/08/2016A Bucket List Experience
This was the first and only time I've ever had the experience of arriving at a golf course via shuttle boat. The boat ride experience in itself is enough to visit Bigwin Island. Arriving at a private island golf community via boat is unlike anything I've experienced.
I played here early in the season, but the course was already in decent shape. The course layout was enjoyable, although I was quite surprised, considering it's an island golf course, that we could only see the water from a couple holes. That said, the views on those holes were epic, and I did enjoy the course layout through the heavily treed terrain.
Although I likely won't be playing this course on a weekly basis (nor could I since it's only open to the public in spring and fall) I would highly recommend adding Bigwin to your bucket list as a very cool and unique golf experience.
Witch Golf Club
Played On 10/16/2015A Myrtle Beach Must Play
With a plethora of golf courses to choose from in Myrtle Beach, the Witch is one of my personal favorites. Winding through a very cool landscape, I thoroughly enjoy playing this course every time I'm in the area.
Cobble Beach Golf Links
Played On 10/04/2015A must play
I love everything about Cobble Beach, beautiful location, right on the shores of the Georgian Bay, with a view of the water from every hole on the course. Great course layout, and in excellent condition even late in the season when I visited. A must play for any golf enthusiast.
