Palmer at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort
Played On 11/09/2022Waterlefe Golf & River Club
Played On 12/06/2021Quality Track
Friendly, efficient service + good shot values + excellent course conditions made for an enjoyable day at Waterlefe that made the 80mile drive worth it.
Highlands Reserve Golf Club
Played On 12/24/2018Good Course
Heard from 2 golfers I played El Campeon (Mission Inn) with about a month ago that Highlands Reserve was a good course. An excellent GolfNow hot deal allowed me to try it our for $16. Glad I did b/c it is a good layout in very good condition. Although #2 and #16 greens are more suited to a mini-golf facility, the greens overall rewarded good chips and putts and penalized poor ones which I really like in a golf course. Friendly staff too. If it were closer to me (56 miles = 1h10m drive) I would return. For those in that area you won't be disappointed playing Highlands Reserve.
Heritage Harbor
Played On 12/18/2018Glad I only paid $10
Had heard that this course drains well so decided to try it after heavy rains of few days ago.Standing water in some fairways and bunkers all mud.Tees and fairways were really ragged. Clearly the maintenance focus here is the greens which looked healthy but putted slow .Other than par 5 #14th and par 4 #18th holes, layout is boring. The greens had been heavily treated with a chemical and the smell from it irritated my throat so I tried to get a cup of ice at the turn to soothe it.They tried to charge me 25cents for it.Ridiculous business practice which prevents my return in the future even if the golf course had been enjoyable.
Cheval Golf and Athletic Club
Played On 12/08/2018Disappointed
GolfNow should have warned prospective customers that hole #17 (the best par three on the course) was closed and was replaced by a 30' putt on the practice green! Had this been done, I would have booked a different course for my friend and I, and perhaps considered Cheval next spring. To say the least, this "blindside" was disappointing (especially for my friend who can only play once per week).
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
Played On 03/22/2018Use the Warning Advisory!
Greens were still healing from recent aeration and top-dressing. Consequently putting was frustrating as golf ball bounced a lot. Everyone in the 4some agreed that we would have chosen another venue had the warning advisory on GolfNow been used. This would have resulted in a better experience on Tuesday at a different course and subsequently the usual enjoyable experience at Lake Jovita at a future date rather than the negative impression this has left especially because this is the 3rd occasion this has happened this winter. It is avoidable if golf courses inform GolfNow and the advisory gets posted on the website.
Panther Lake at Orange County National
Played On 01/16/2018Usually a treat to play Panther Lake. The high quality shot values make it so. But today's game was ruined by a completely preventable situation. The golf cart was sluggish on front9 (warning lamp on solid) so at the turn we asked starter to call for another one. He directed us to a cart that had been left at the turn, but the warning lamp was flashing on it. He assured us it would be fine for back9. Not so! We had to hand push it up hills by #14 and when it totally died on #17, our playing partner in another cart pushed us through #18 to the clubhouse. We advised the cart return staff of the situation. Solution should be obvious.
Mission Inn Resort & Club - El Campeon Course
Played On 12/05/2017Exceptional Value
Really appreciated the $22 fee for a 1:48pm tee time (finished at 5:20pm) because it's almost a one hour drive to this course from my house. The hot deal made it worthwhile to travel that far for this exceptional course.Really enjoy the shot values and trickiness of several of the greens on El Campeon.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 11/17/2017Enjoyable Round of Golf
Although the greens were "shaggy" today and didn't roll as well as I remember from prior rounds, it was an enjoyable day at Pine Barrens. The quality of the shot values on this layout make it so. Not sure if my recollection is wrong, but I seem to recall that these greens were smoother and ran faster in previous years. One of my playing partners (who I met at the first tee and has played here a lot before) agreed with this perspective.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 11/14/2017Disappointed today
One of my favourite courses, but the reasons for my lower rating this time are:
1. Greens had been top-dressed and didn't roll well.
2. A large burn of trees & scrub brush was done that day and created very unpleasant condition for eyes and lungs.
Solution:World Woods should advise GolfNow in advance so that the Warning icon can be posted on the website for those considering booking it.
Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - North Course
Played On 11/10/2017KEEPER
Always a treat to play LJ North. Very good shot values on a well conditioned golf course. It's one that I play several times during my winter stay in Florida and I'm never disappointed.
Monarch Golf Club at Royal Highlands
Played On 03/13/2015Pleasant Experience
Played the 1pm Friday shotgun. The back tees are only 6018yds, but played longer. There are some challenging holes, but overall the layout won't intimidate your game. If your looking for a pleasant round of golf on a well-conditioned course, then monarch is a good choice.
Mission Inn Resort & Club - Las Colinas Course
Played On 03/11/2015Enjoyable Experience
Las Colinas is an excellent alternative to the el Campeon course. It has very good shot values throughout. This interesting layout rewards good play and has a trouble factor that reasonably penalizes poor play (still permits a good chance to recover par after a loose shot). Course conditions are excellent. Personally I find the Las Colinas greens easier to read than the el Campeon ones.
Mission Inn Resort & Club - El Campeon Course
Played On 12/29/2014An exceptional golf experience
The El Campeon course is an exceptional layout and well worth the one-hour drive for me. Quality shot values exist on every hole. With a high trouble factor, bad execution is properly penalized, while good execution is rewarded. With significant elevation changes, most approach shots play longer than expected and thus the ability to flight a shot for maximum carry is essential to hitting greens in regulation. I find the grain on the greens tends to influence the roll of putts a lot.
Tampa Bay Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/19/2014Easy but enjoyable
Played the 18-hole course. Very good value for the $14 green fee thru GolfNow. Shot values are adequate; only a couple of challenging approach shots on par 4s from the fairway.
Course conditions are excellent. Greens are smooth and roll fast but putts tend to break a little more than the slopes appear to show. Grain is a non-factor.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 11/30/2014Always a treat to play.
My favourite course in the central Florida region. Shot values are outstanding and the course conditions have always been excellent when I play during the winter season.
Juliette Falls
Played On 12/23/2013Enjoyable Challenge
Course provides many challenging shot values.
Combination of contours and fast green speed requires excellent short game to score well.
Juliette Falls is about a 45minute drive for me, but well worth it.
Candler Hills Golf Club
Played On 12/16/2013First experience was a good one.
In my first trip, I found Candler Hills to be a quality golf experience. Specifically the shot values throughout the course are high and the layout provides interesting options if you drive the ball well. The "trouble factor" is appropriate and chipping for up and downs is challenging..
Course conditions were excellent. The greens roll fast and true, as I don't recall anyone in our foursome getting an erratic bounce for a properly struck putt.
Although it's a 40 mile drive, I will return to Candler Hills several times this winter. It's worth it.
Dunes Golf Club
Played On 03/01/2015Unrealized Potential
The layout of the holes is exceptional with quality shot values throughout the course. Unfortunately course conditions need improvement. Although it isn't pure golf by playing preferred lies, it is prudent at the Dunes given the sparse growth of grass in the fairways. More importantly, the greens need significant attention as a fungus has infected many of them and is overtaking the Bermuda grass to the point of almost making reading the greens correctly inconsequential to holing putts. I played the Dunes about a month ago and the greens were a little better then, so it appears that the fungus issue is advancing. Too bad because the challenging course design could be a treat to play everyday if course conditions were better.
Hello, We're glad you liked our course layout and course conditions. Thank you for your business and come back again soon.
