Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club - Sand Nine
Played On 03/30/2023Nice day, well-organized
1st time playing here, played Sand/Piper. Drop bag off, staff brings them down into bullpen area where starter herds the cats into who, where, and when, Greens are excellent, water borders many holes but does not interfere. Can run the ball up into most every hole as greens are elevated slightly. However most fronts are wet and ball will grab. Even saw a few gators!

Played On 08/28/2020Nice course but...
I've played here a few times this summer with my wife and we enjoy the course and conditions. Greens are fast and firm. Playing today with a friend and rather than one person per cart they charge $10 extra for a second cart. In this age of Covid I feel their policy is unfair, dangerous, and wrong. Really not looking out for the safety of their customers so I'll chose to take my money elsewhere...

The greens are now a reason to play here rather than a reason to run. Kudos to the groundskeeping staff for a nice job with the new surfaces. It's a nice flowing layout with improved fairways. On the negative side, the bunkers are simply unplayable. If the price is right I'd recommend it to friends.

Played On 09/26/2019Stay away (at least for awhile)...
I live about 50 minutes away and I paid $35 sr. rate at a course I generally love traveling to and playing. That price was about $30 too much! Greens are in horrible shape as it's truly hit and hope putting. Some greens are aerated, others have been painted, others have tire marks running thru them. All have bare spots and are "muddy". The collars have been re-sodded in places so around those areas are marked GUR. I know the course will get better and it's just a rough patch right now but I cannot recommend someone play there in the near future. At the very least they should lower their greens fees because of all the problems...
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. However, we're very sorry to hear that your recent experience was anything short of our usual expectations. We truly appreciate your patience & understanding regarding our greens, but we can assure you we are continuing to take the proper steps in our efforts towards getting Chapel Ridge in good shape going into the fall season and getting the course back to the best it can be. Your feedback has been shared with our staff, and we hope to welcome you back for a better round soon!

Played On 09/26/2018Greens are really shot...
Previous reviews of poor greens were correct. The majority of the greens have been badly infiltrated with crabgrass and are basically not puttable. It's a shame as the course conditions were fine and the layout is nice. It's such a fun course to play but I cannot recommend it to anyone and it is off my list until I see some positive reviews.

Played On 08/24/2018many pros but some cons
First time playing the course. Loved the layout, pace of play was great as we rarely saw another person. Free range balls, bottled water on course, carts with tees and GPS were all positives. On-course restrooms were clean. Pro shop guy was very friendly.
Okay, now the cons. While the fairways were in nice shape, some of the greens were spotty at best and 4 greens were totally unputtable. The bunkers are all beyond terrible as they are not even trying to fix them. The GPS in our cart did not work and the scorecard had no illustrations of the course. No idea what each hole featured.
I realize they have suffered from some tough weather. In speaking with the proshop the bunkers are at a standstill until they determine the proper course to repair them. This could be a fantastic place to play but I cannot recommend it to anyone with their current conditions/problems.

Played On 08/07/2018Looking good...
I've read some negative reviews and was somewhat nervous about playing here. Grabbed a nice Hot Deal, froze a Powerade, splashed on the sunscreen and made the trip. Totally worth it! I've played here a few times in the last 10 years and have always enjoyed the layout. Conditions were not pristine but still very playable. Fairways were green and growing well and the ball sat up nicely. The greens were recently sanded but I did not notice many bad spots and they rolled true.
Don't hesitate to play here. It's all coming along nicely and I applaud their work.
Played here in July and August.
Overall the course us in very good condition. The name CHALLENGE is very fitting. The fairways are in very good condition. The greens have recovered from the winter kill.
Pro shop staff is friendly and warm. Clobhouse good is good and they have a good choice of beverages.
Indian Valley Golf Course
Played On 06/03/2018Nice shape at this time
The rains have helped the conditions of the course as the fairways and greens are in very good shape. Some collars and edges around the course are rough...be careful of roots/rocks. The course winds through housing on certain holes but does not feel cramped. Some water but only on a few holes. Proshop is quite basic but serviceable. Cold water in igloos on course, no restrooms but maybe a port-a-john (I can't recall).
Falls Village Golf Course
Played On 05/13/2018poor conditions
As others have stated, this course is falling into disrepair and should be avoided. Tee boxes are basically dirt, the fairway grass is sparse, and the greens are splotchy and bumpy with many bare spots. Bunkers are terrible and the cart paths are broken cement. On the plus side (and there are not many) the guy in the proshop was friendly and they did have cold water in the coolers on the course.
The layout is good and it's a shame they cannot get the course playable. Stay away until (if?) the reviews get better.
The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge
Played On 05/01/2018It should be better...
I have always loved the layout here but conditions as of May 1 just are not that great. Fairways are still sparse and tight lies abound. Collars around most greens are uneven, muddy, and very bumpy. The greens are only okay, not totally smooth.
Tee boxes are sandy and uneven. I hope it all improves as the weather gets better because I do enjoy playing here but I left disappointed in the overall shape of the course.
Rocky River Golf Club at Concord
Played On 04/08/2018Welcoming staff and friendly course
First time playing course. Chilly conditions and with our early arrival and a less-than-full tee sheet we were allowed out before our Hot Deal teetime. Very friendly cart/shop staff. Early April conditions were to be expected as not much is growing so tee boxes were a little sparse and sandy. Fairways were coming in and the greens were in great shape, fast and true. No on-course rest rooms (port-a-johns only). GPS in the carts is always a welcomed plus. Course is smartly routed thru swamps and wooded areas and each hole is by itself. No housing but one hole does have the Embassy Suites looming on the left side! Another hole has the drag track stands/parking area off in the distance. Truly a scenic and fun course and we would play it again anytime.
Early Spring conditions
My wife and I played while visiting Savannah. Course overall is very nice but playing in early Feb we had some tight fairways where the ball was not sitting up as well as hoped. The grass was a bit thin in spots but I have no doubt this will improve in the coming weeks. Greens were rolling true and the layout is great. Movement hole to hole is easy and it would be a nice walk (as many were). No on course restrooms, facility available at the turn. Bottled water in coolers were a great touch. Never to be forgotten were the fighter jets flying very low overhead...it was so cool to be playing while the rumble of freedom played just above your head! For travelers the location is fantastic: just off 95 and within 5 minutes of approx 15 hotels and many restaurants.
River Bend Golf Club
Played On 01/30/2017Nice course...no homes!
Played with my wife who plays 40+ rounds annually, Bro-in-law (10+ annually) and sister (3+ annually) and myself (50+ annually). We all enjoyed the course layout very much. Very few blind shots, only a few water hazards, many holes seemed as if we were out by ourselves in a nature preserve. A hawk floating lazily above, palms, pines and other trees swaying in the wind, and scenic drives between holes made for a great day. As per other reviews the cart paths are not pristine but just slow down a bit and pay attention and you'll be fine. On course restrooms, a friendly clubhouse staff and a great rate on Golfnow all help with making River Bend a very solid choice!
The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge
Played On 06/04/2016Very warm day at Chapel Ridge
Played this afternoon (Sat 6-4) in the 90+ degree heat. First the positives: Greens in nice shape, tee boxes okay, starter moved throughout keeping the pace of play going smoothly. Negatives: Most bunkers in terrible shape, some areas around greens in rough condition, fairways bare and thin in many spots. Biggest negative: Only 1 cooler (near Hole 5 I believe) on the course had any water and no beverage cart was working. In this heat not supplying your patrons with water is inexcusable. Luckily I brought a bottle of water with me but was only able to refill it a few times. No cold water on a hot day makes for a long unpleasant afternoon.
Bradford Creek Golf Club
Played On 12/04/2015It's all right there in front of you
Not too many courses can you see the flag on every hole...this one you can. Every hole is almost directly straight with very flat terrain. Very wide open with almost a Plains feel. Conditions were pretty nice for December with fairways okay and the manageable rough turning dormant. 17 greens were excellent, only the 3rd hole had some nasty kill throughout but good job by the staff to find a pin placement where putting was okay. Only one or two water hazards. Bunker sand was rough and had some small rocks, be careful. Port-a potties on front and back. Clean clubhouse and pro shop with friendly workers. Very walkable.
Beau Rivage Golf & Resort
Played On 11/01/2015Welcoming staff and course
My wife and I played Masonboro on Fri 10-30 and Beau Rivage on Sun 11-1. Very friendly people at BR and the course itself was also friendly. Fairways were fairly wide and receptive, homes/condos didn't seem too close, water does come in play on some holes, greens in fantastic shape. On course bathrooms and water coolers. Some scenic drives in the GPS-equipped carts, not at all a walkers course. Large putting green and smaller chipping area with a nice driving range. Did not try anything at the 19th hole but the crowd watching NFL games seemed quite happy (until the Giants lost)! Will definitely play this course again on our next visit to the beach as we may even stay at the resort!
Masonboro Golf Club
Played On 10/30/2015Beautiful but difficult
My wife and I played here on Fri 10-30. Weather was 72 and sunny with a breeze so it was just perfect. Not too busy, let a twosome go thru us early but back 9 we saw no one. Course is in totally fantastic shape, with nice landscaping. We enjoyed our time but...Warning: this is a difficult course! The landing areas are quite narrow and a poorly struck ball will probably not be found. The greens are well-protected so traps and water will be in play. Moundings can and will kick errant shots off their intended targets. Frustration may ensue. Not a lot of room for error. Enjoy the scenery, take a few deep breaths, and pack a few more bullets. You will be re-loading.
Brookhaven Golf Club
Played On 07/10/2015Nice alternative to the high $$ courses
First time at course and no trouble finding it from Saratoga as signs are posted directing you to the course. Pro-shop staff were very friendly and we were allowed to start as soon as we were ready. Great scorecard with course layout, individual holes, and helpful info regarding distances on the many doglegs. Course is tree-lined, fairways in pretty good shape, and the greens rolled true but a few did have some very bumpy areas. It's not fancy, it's not pristine and it's not a bombers course but it is a good course and it's fun (and not too expensive!).
The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club
Played On 04/18/2014Great layout...greens so-so
Played Good Friday around noon. Course very busy, parking lot full so had to park on road. No one groups fault but it was a long round, just over 5 hrs. Course layout is great, fairways in pretty nice shape for April. Greens very bumpy as some putts became airborne. Perhaps in a few weeks the greens will be back to normal.
Umstead Pines Golf & Swim Club at Willowhaven
Played On 8/31/20133 1/2 stars...solid course
Had a great rate from GolfNow so we took a late Sat afternoon tee time. Groups on most holes but pace was okay. Tee-boxes were somewhat rough, wide and nicely-kept fairways and smooth greens. Houses on most holes yet they are off in the distance and it does not seem you are hitting shots out of someone's back deck. Nice variety of holes with some elevation changes. Will play again for sure.
Thanks for the 4-star review and great feedback on our course improvements here at Falls Village Golf Club! We truly value your support as our team has worked diligently to bring the course back up to par. We also appreciate your patience & understanding with our bunkers as we continue improvements, but we hope to have you back for another round soon!
