Zimbali Country Club
Played On 11/05/2017Beautiful though challenging, and disappointing greens
Played here 3 times while staying at nearby hotel. Lovely staff and good clubhouse. The course is cut through jungle and although there is some housing it is not obtrusive. Some carries were rather demanding from the longer tees, and our main criticism was that the greens (following a long dry spell) were slow and bumpy. Otherwise the course was in great condition, and the hole design was varied and often spectacular. Monkeys need to be watched or you will lose not only food, but golf balls! On balance, definitely recommended.
Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
Played On 11/20/2016Interesting layout but unreasonable pins and no catering
Came here with a large UK-based society as part of a week's competition, and very disappointed to discover no breakfast available (our tee time around 11 am) and no food apart from chips on the on-course cart. A scenic and interesting course layout - houses very close in places though. Main concern was the setting of many pins right at the front of the green, often only a few yards over a bunker and in places at the foot of steep green slopes making it impossible to stop the ball close from anywhere. I felt the designer and operators of this course were thinking it was clever to make things difficult for handicap golfers; well, maybe it is, in which case this handicap golfer won't be hurrying back.
