A grand old course that needs some help.
Since reopening after the county purchase, some changes have been made that lower the quality of the experience. First, they have closed the bridge between 7 and 8 so you must drive all the way back around by the 5th tee box. Second, while it was closed, all the distance markers on the tee boxes were removed. Hard to figure distance. Lastly, at the present time, there is no bar or food!
Never a good sign at a course!

After reading the reviews, I expected an old course in poor shape. I was surprised to find a hidden gem! Fairways are lined with mature Cypress Trees that look like giant Bonsai! Fairways in good shape for a muni course. Greens, Fast and true. Overall ground is a bit firm. I recommend winter or spring. I have the feeling this course gets hard when it is dry. Nice staff, good bar. Leave early, HWY 1 can back up on weekends. took 15 min to go the last mile! Well worth it!

S.G. is, by far the best test of golf in marin.
The course is in great shape. It is long and challenging. The greens vary in size and difficulty but roll very true. You will feel good about your game after the front 9 but hang on! the back 9 is where this big green monster shows its teeth! On 4 of the first 5 holes, you can not see the green from the tee! Being in the short grass is a must! and even then you might find yourself with no second shot! A great test of golf! You will want to come back for more!

Strange layout, 10 on the front and 8 on the back. 3 par 5's on the front. Pace of play was bad. When we got to the turn it was so backed up, we played the front 10 again. we were able to play the back 8 after that but a long day made for poor shots at the end.
Would like to play it when pace of play was normal.

A hidden gem in the east bay! Great course! Nice people. Pace of play can be slow.

One of the most difficult courses in Marin is a joy to play. Course is in great shape even with the drought. it is Un crowded this time of year so it is easy to get a tee time and keep your group at any size! You will feel good after the first 9 but be ready for a real test on the back 9! Wonderful views of the Marin hills are found throughout the whole course. Enjoy!

Great deal for the money! Course very flat so a good walking course. Lots of trees so MUST HIT IT STRAIGHT!! Not crowded, I played 16 holes solo!
Players there had a good sprit, nice folks, laid back.
I shall return!
