Desert Falls Country Club
Played On 01/15/2023Great Location
Fun rolling layout with some pretty large greens and fun placements. We played on a cool day overcast Enjoyed the course. Conditioning is average but looks like it will be in great shape with a few weeks of heat.. Friendly staff. Not your typical resort layout it's got some rolling elevation and a few holes you could benefit from playing a couple times. Good 3 pars. Would play again.
Palm Desert Resort Country Club
Played On 01/13/2023Fun to Play!
Fun resort layout. Nothing too difficult, generous fairways nothing tricked up, got room off the tee to hit the ball. Eighteenth hole is a bit different, short layup off the tee and then a forced carried over water to an elevated green, but lots of room to hit the ball, different but fun. Greens and fairways in very good shape overall, excellent range. Staff were very friendly and helpful, we were running late due to construction on Country Club Road and they looked after us and we got off the tee with little waiting and disruption to other golfers. Course is good value for the money would recommend.
Highlands Reserve Golf Club
Played On 01/23/2020Good value!
Worth the drive from Orlando to play. Decent layout lots of room to hit the ball off the tee. Many rolling elevation changes throughout the course, overall fun to play. Course was in decent shape, fairways and rough pretty typical for winter Florida Golf, good greens, better than average condition.
We're glad you found value in Highlands Reserve Golf Club!
Rio Pinar Golf
Played On 01/20/2020Classic layout, great value!
Always on the list when we visit Orlando. Classic old school style golf course, lot's of history, former home of the Florida Citrus Open. Course was jammed played on Martin Luther day, but moved pretty good and nice to see the place busy! Course was in decent shape, always great value. always fun to play a track that has some rich history of the PGA tour's past! You can see the course has had some money put into lately, good to see, a recommended play.
Hunter's Creek Golf Club
Played On 01/15/2020Always worth the play!
We always try to play Hunter's Creek when in Orlando. Good layout, fun to play, generous fairways nothing tricked up, smallish undulating greens with a sprinkling of strategic bunkering around the greens and through the fairways. Lot's of variety and length for all skill levels. Greens were in rough shape this year but that's winter golf in Florida, conditions can be hit and miss, and for $55 it's still great value. The staff are always great, friendly and helpful and the crew in the cart barn always look after you. It's a good track, classic layout and a good tune up course for us "snow birds" before heading out to drop $100-200 a round on some of the other places. I always recommend this course for others to play!
Grand Cypress - North/South
Played On 01/30/2019It's Grand...
Always worth playing Grand Cypress. Had not played since the "heyday" years of golf but it's still well worth it! Though I think the green fees today are a third of what they were back then! Played the North South, typical Nicklaus layouts , lots of room to hit the ball off the tee, smallish undulating elevated greens with many shelve tops. Fun fair course lots of tees to choose from. In pretty good shape overall, very good service. Worth playing again.
North Shore Golf Course
Played On 01/22/2019Good Shape!
Fun course, in very good shape. Great greens some of the best I've played winter time in Orlando. Very good value overall considering much of Orlando is really over priced for the most part considering conditioning but hey it's Mickey land! Layout has a little of everything, front is more open back winds through old Florida oaks each nine is different. Would recommend playing.
Hunter's Creek Golf Club
Played On 01/14/2019Nice fun course
In all my years coming to Orlando not sure why I kept missing this course. Perhaps poor reviews of course conditions previous years, however not the case now, course is in very good condition overall for this time of year, excellent. Good track, fair, very fun layout, what you see is what you get. Lots of tee choices and yardages to play from, lots of room off the tee, played a combo gold/blue and was a good mix for a "coolish" but pretty good January day overall, 70f and mostly sunny. Lots to complain about coming from the winter world to the north! Lol Course amenities are run down, sign of the times for most of the mid to lower tiered courses in this day and age of golf. But I've never played a course because of the amenities, is what it is, the course is why you go. I'd recommend this course, go have fun!
Worth the play
Played early morning before 730, twosome with my wife, always nice to be able to play Valentines Day especially from where we live in coldville! Great value for the money, greens in great shape, course overall decent shape, a little wet in spots looked like some irrigation issues, but overall in very good shape. Fun layout, lots of length and different tees to choose from depending on your skill level. Nothing tricky about the course, fair, generous fairways, staff very accomodating and friendly. Under new ownership can see work and changes going on. Many bunkers have been filled in, course must have been bit of a beast prior to that. One suggestion I would make to management is don't bother with all the "replacement mini bunkers" just get rid of them all. Nothing wrong with no bunkers and just go with the grass swails. Makes it more fun and different. Would play again and recommend to others.
Eagle Creek Golf Club
Played On 03/10/2016Good track!
Very good layout, good track. Fun to play, challenging just pick the right tees to play yardage wise. Fair course design, fair and appropriate for all skill levels. Will certainly play again and would recommend to others. Conditions are average, greens and fairways rough, but for the price great value. Most Florida courses I find are generally not in great shape in the winter unless your tipping your wallet to the higher end more expensive places with the bigger budgets. Though price doesn't always guarantee a good layout. If you like good challenging fun golf courses, good tracks and layouts play this course.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - International
Played On 03/08/2016Better than the sister course
The more beautiful sister of the two courses at this facility. Better layout, more challenging and better design. In good shape, overall, well run facility, good location and services. It's a resort style course though and not sure I would pay walk up rack rates.
Excellent facility overall though and handy to the Leadbetter Academy.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 03/06/2016Location
Average layout, almost seems like an after thought in design. Good facility overall though, friendly well trained staff, very well run facility and good food and service overall. Course was in decent shape. Not particularly difficult or inspiring, pretty much typical resort style course. Good location.
Remington Golf Club
Played On 03/04/2016Good layout, good value.
Good layout overall, fun and fair to play. Course winds through residential area, but fairways are ample and fair enough giving you room to drive the ball but still offer some strategic variety off the tee. Par threes are awesome, well protected by bunkers, fun, and a challenge from the back tees. Course is in average shape, has been over seeded, and is green, but greens need a good hair cut a bit slow, but will be in great shape once they firm up a bit. But you get what you pay for in terms of over seeded winter play this time of year in Florida. Layout overall is fun and decent and course conditions are certainly playable. It's priced right in the $40-50 range, and we had the all you can play for $50 and could have easily played more time wise if we wanted to after the first round. Staff are friendly, decent facility overall, good value.
Sanctuary Ridge Golf Club
Played On 03/02/2016Hilly and different
Quite different from typical Florida course. Very hilly many undulations and elevation changes and some great views of surrounding area from many of the holes. Plays like a mountain course! In very poor shape overall rough, but playable. It's a fun course to play. Worth playing because it's so different. Pace of play was slow, course layout and difficulty for the average golfer has something to do with that.
Timacuan Golf Club
Played On 02/29/2016Play this track!
Simple, "PLAY this COURSE!" Really fun layout, challenging tee shots, rolling undulating terrain with lots of elevation changes from tee to green as the course winds through the Florida pines and oaks and through the many wetland areas around the course. Greens are great, roll true, very fast, and sneaky undulations but readable and fair, just pay attention to what you're doing on the greens! Many elevated approaches to small well guarded greens making your club selection important. The day we played course was not too busy so we flew around the course so pace was great but on a busy day could see it being a somewhat slow round due to the many challenges off the tee. But enjoy it, play from the proper tees and have fun! Would not recommend this course as beginner friendly, could be a bit intimidating for a novice. Overall easy to see why this track is consistently top rated!
Kissimmee Bay Country Club
Played On 02/26/2016Good value
Good layout, classic older style with front nine with fairways winding through the trees and small greens on the front nine. Back nine a little more open with more water coming into play. Fun to play and priced right in that $40-50 range. Course is a little rough overall and has seen better days. Bunkers need lots of work and greens need a little heat and TLC. But was probably one of the top clubs when it first opened back in the day. It's priced right for it's current condition and the layout is worth playing though. Course is suitable for all skill levels and players.
Rio Pinar Golf
Played On 02/22/2016classic old school
A classic old style layout and golf course. Rich past history of host for the old PGA Tour Florida Citrus Open and LPGA Tour . Very fun to play, very good value, rough around the edges, just "bump" the ball, but don't let that deter you from playing. Generous fairways wind through the trees, the ample Florida oaks and pines offer a nice buffer from the residential area the course is located in. Greens are in good shape, deceptively quick, undulating and guarded strategically by bunkers, but fair and readable. It's a nice "old school Florida" track, winding and bending through the trees, fun to play. good three pars and from tee to green a good layout. Staff were very friendly and helpful overall, a cool local feel to it, a nice break from all the "big corporate golf stuff" going on these days. Good value for the money.
