What Happened Here?

It has been a number of years since we last played Buffalo Creek and I can tell you I don't know if I will ever come back. How this place has almost a 4-star rating boggles the mind. When we first considered playing there again, we read the reviews and they were decent. Our group prefers to play courses that are somewhat well maintained and the reviews of the course seemed to fit our criteria. I made the tee time and the gentleman who took my reservation could not have been nicer and more detailed. I was truly excited to revisit a course that we've played many, many times in the past. The we arrived this past Sunday.

1. Upon going into the pro-shop to pay for our round, we found the female attendant to be extremely rude. We had pre-paid for our foursome via a website and she was not very accommodating. Maybe she was just having a bad morning.
2. Gentleman that took care of the carts asked for our tee time and had a cart waiting for us. Once i drove it to my car to load up the bags, i realized that this cart had NO BRAKES at all. The only way it would stop is when you took your foot off of the gas pedal and it would stop in 8 to 10 feet. The break pedal was all the way to the floor and you could not depress it at all. I brought this to the cart attendants attention but he told me I had brakes, just take you foot off of the gas! He did not offer us another car although there were plenty available.
3. Course conditions: I fully understand that it hasn't been raining much but this course had little grass on the fairways but allot of weeds. Off of the fairways and around the greens were terrible. Bunkers were hard but playable. Greens were slow and bumpy.
4. It was a hot day and there was not a beverage cart person. Only water available on the course was at the two restrooms, on on the front and one on the back. They also won't let you bring your own drinks onto the course yet they barely provide any.

This is a 2.5 star course at best! The glory days of this course have long passed!

AMAZING

I don’t know where to start except to say that if you are a golfer, the Black Diamond Stay and Play is a MUST DO! Firstly, Cherri, is the Director was an amazing organizer and host. She communicated greatly and crossed all the T’s and dotted all the I’s…every little detail was taken care of. Even upon arrival, although I’m sure this wasn’t part of the services included in our golf package, Cherri even offered to make our group reservations at the nicest restaurant in town. She was amazing! Now on to the golf courses…if you haven’t played either of the Black Diamond courses (they have two 18 hole and a 9 hole layouts), you are depriving yourself of two spectacular tracks. The Quarry Course is the most often talked about of the two layouts due to the 6 holes carved out of an old limestone quarry…truly spectacular! I’ve played this course at least a half a dozen times previously and still am amazed every time I play it. This was the first time I played the Ranch Course and it was amazing as well. To warp this up, thank you Cherri for being a fantastic host and thanks to the staff of Black Diamond who were awesome as well. YOU MUST PLAY HERE!
