Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
Played On 09/19/2023Gold it isn't
Hard bunkers with limited sand, sparce rough (if you can call it that), good course if you want to swing hard and chase your ball without caring where it goes. GPS provided is ancient and limited, will not provide you with green views. Not typical for a good resort to have a poor course. Got a good rate, so acceptable.

First time, definitely need local knowledge...even with GPS provided due to green slopes and false fronts, you need to know where to land the ball...also need to know green size since several are uphill and you cant see them. Speed was excessive when coupled with slopes, chipped off two greens and putted off one. Had to play a 5 foot break on one hole on a 10 foot putt. Never heard a foursome say REALLY so many times!!! It got to be funny and became our battle cry.
Aguila Golf Course
Played On 03/07/2016Great City Course
Nice layout, good practice areas, good conditions both fairways and greens. Only city course in its category of good condition is Papago, and that course is ~twice as expensive.
Arizona Biltmore Golf Club - Estates Course
Played On 03/31/2014Great Putting Challenge
Greens are in great shape with plenty of small shelves and slopes. Take care or the "snake" will bite you!!!
Fairways are plenty wide and full of green grass.
BUT...deep bunkers are short of sand and play more like hardpan.
Sourrounded by some pretty impressive real estate, makes you feel poor looking at them, but nice to pass the time while the play is slow in front of your group.
Arizona Traditions Golf Club
Played On 10/22/2013Good Fairways, Bumpy Greens
Recent overseed, so fairways in great shape. But Greens were bumpy and different speeds since they are still "delicate".
Great scoring opportunities if good drives hit; I got a workout with the scoring clubs. Must work the ball both ways to maximize your approach angles & distance. Best shape I have seen this course in (greens will be good as soon as grass is stable and they are cut and rolled.)
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 1/21/2013Reasonable price, challenging shots, good greens.
Course requires both fades and draws to terraced greens that putt true and are challenging to hit to the correct portion. Fairways have decent grass; as do the greens. Scenery is nice; played with a guest from NYC area, he was very impressed with the views. Tees are varied to give you shots requiring hitting most of the clubs you carry.
Rancho Manana Golf Club

Terrific scenery, it is one of the prettiest places I have played. Helps to have local knowledge as some holes appear misleading off the tee box; staff has added instructions to the scorecard to help. Spent extra to play another 9, it was that impresive!!!
Thanks so much for the review. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing Aguila Golf Course.
