Keith Hills Golf Club - White Course
Played On 07/23/2020Excellent value
I play this course several times per year and it is in my regular rotation being only 30 minutes from my home. ( 3 separate 9 holes were you are assigned 2 based on traffic). It has always been a good course at a average value, but I hadn't played it in over 6-9 months. I started to see the course rated in several different mediums as a top 25 course in NC.( I thought they can't be speaking of the same course because it was no Mid Pines, Tobacco Road, Finley, Legacy, or Dormie ) . So, I played it again this summer for probably the 30th time and I was shocked at the conditions. The writers were correct. The course, cart paths, practice facility have all improved dramatically. Cambell University does not have the "golf" clout of NCSU, UNC, or Duke but they have certainly improved their average golf course(s) to a real contender. Nice Job, considering Keith Hill charges half the price of the other college courses I just mentioned.
Anderson Creek Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2020Not as good as once was
The course just isn’t maintained as it once was. I played last fall as well as this spring and both times there were weeds and bare spots in the fairway specifically around the greens and traps. If you receive a bargain price ( key word bargain) play, because it still has a nice And playable layout for all skill levels. But I wouldn’t pay list price until more is invested in quality improvements.
Tot Hill Farm Golf Club
Played On 11/10/2013The best course/value in the state!
This course is fantastic!. It is beautiful, scenic, challenging, and overall a incredible course. Golf Digest rated it 13th toughest course in America a few years ago and its right in our backyard. 90 minutes from Raleigh might seem out there, but it is truly worth the drive. I don't understand the negative condition reviews because the course was pristine. The nicest course I've played excluding Pinehurst No. 8. Seriously don't miss out. Take the drive.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 11/04/2013A good Marshal should never be underrated.
Slowest round I've played all year. (30+) I have never seen so many unpaired singles; ever. There were extremely slow foursomes as well. I play fast and have been spoiled by fast play at other courses, but this was horrible. No marshal to be found anywhere. Even if it was 11:30 am on a Tuesday. No excuse. I left after playing thru three groups in "eight" holes! Almost forgot, the course is in great shape. I have not played in years because the abundance of elevated and undulating holes, but the course was in great shape. Skeleton crew last Tuesday. I only saw 1 guy in the pro shop, lady at the grill, and a young man attending to carts during my visit. The pro shop guy spoke without any type of eye contact like I mattered at the least. I hate when my hard earned money isn't appreciated.
Little River Golf & Resort
Played On 11/02/2013Nice layout, true resort area course.
Nice layout, not to difficult and a scenic pleasure. An old farm transformed into a golf course. You can easily pay 95-125 on the weekends, but through Golfnow rates range from $18-$45. Truly a nice course without houses getting in the way. Recently played with twosome from New England prepping to play 5 of the Pinehurst courses for the week. They also thoroughly enjoy the course. Again, Very nice course.
River Ridge Golf Club
Played On 10/31/2013One of very few nice public courses in Raleigh city limits
The conditions aren't going to knock your socks off, but this course is always in good condition. Nice layout without being insane to play. No gimmicks, just right out in front of you. Nice value with unlimited range ball included in fees. Warm up early without counting range balls or practice after the round. Nice staff. Again, one of the only decent courses within the Raleigh city limits which is public.
Anderson Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/02/2013always in good condition. very challenging depending on tees
Always in good condition. One of two Davis Love courses in the area. (Preserve at Jordan Lake little more difficult but not as pristine.) Nice clubhouse, friendly staff, and above average range.
Wildwood Green Golf Course
Played On 09/27/2013Marginally above average course in the middle of the Beltline
Nice layout in the middle of Raleigh. If you live here and don't want to drive to the Pinehurst area, Clayton, and Buries Creek but don't want to drop 50-80 birdies at UNC or State courses this is a good place. It does seem a little steep at full retail, ( but that's why we all enjoy GolfNow) Again, if you don't want to travel and want a good layout this is it. Small clubhouse and grill in need of remodeling, the staff was extremely friendly. Seriously. Nice team. I especially appreciate the guy at the counter who gave me a used Callaway tour when I was going to purchase 1 logo ball because I only had two balls in my bag and thought I might need a spare. Exceeding expectations goes a long way with me! I did get behind two hacking groups which caused 4+ hour round. What can you say, Stuff happens.
Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University
Played On 9/25/2013Easily top 3 public course in Raleigh/Durham market
New Arnold Palmer designed public course ( w/n 5yrs) here in Raleigh. I've played three times and always seem to score well. It has extremely scenic holes where the city skyline is a highlight. The course is right in front of you. No gimmicks, just well planned and placed holes. It looks like the massive club house is close to completion. It should be a treat in the spring. I found its always difficult finding a super friendly staff at university courses. It seems the staff are just to young to master exceptional customer service. Validation at both UNC and State course. But if you are in the Raleigh/Durham area, PLAY THIS COURSE. A few years ago Golf Magazine rated Raleigh 47th of 50 areas in the country to play, before this course was completed.
UNC Finley Golf Course
Played On 9/23/2013Great Floridian Course in the middle of North Carolina
I have always heard about the course, but never played in all these years. My lost. This is a beautiful course with a nice practice facility and new club house. The outside staff was exceptional, ie marshall and cart return. But the pro shop staff at university courses seem to be always manned by students who have not mastered exceptional customer service. Finley was no different. Oh well. Tom Fazio puts everything right in front of you without gimmicks, yet still a vision and challenge. Probably the nicest public course in Raleigh/Durham although Duke/NC State might disagree.
The Neuse Golf Club
Played On 9/20/2013Always in good condition anytime of the year.
The course is always in good condition anytime of the year. It may not be pristine, but it is always above average condition. I've played 10-12 different courses this summer in the Raleigh and Pinehurst area in Golf Now's stable and if you are looking for a maintain course without the gamble, this is it. Great value and good conditions. I cant say that for some of the better courses in both areas. Some times their conditions are awesome while other times their horrible. Not The Nuese
