St. Clair Parkway Golf Course
Played On 10/09/2017This course is nicely maintained.
The fairways are cut nicely, the rough is cut short on most of the course. The green are fast. As I said before, well maintained. The biggest problem is the yardages. On the score card it has one yardage. On the sign post there is another yardage. And if you have a GPS or a range finder you get another yardage reading. There is a large concrete circle that is a baby blue in the middle of the fairway but you cannot see it unless you are right on top of it. Then there is a very small light blue disc with a 150 on it about 5 to 10 yards up from the concrete circle. It is harder to see then the big circle. I never did see a 100 marker and only saw a couple of 200 discs. And that was only because I was right beside them. If you don't know where you are to the hole it makes club selection extremely difficult if not impossible. I told them about this last year. I did not enjoy playing here. It was very frustrating. I was hoping things would be different this year. I will never play at this course again. They obviously do not care about repeat customers.

I am an average golfer and I only ask for a couple of things in a golf course. Do not start or finish with a par 3 or a par 5. This course met that requirement. I also like to have a 150 yard stick visible from most vantage points on the hole. This course has real nice granite blocks in the ground with 150 engraved in them. The problem is you have to be right on top of them in the middle of the fairway to see them. I spent more time walking around looking for the 150 marker then actually golfing. I know it is inconvenient for the grounds crew to have to stop and pull the colored stake out all the time to mow the fairway, but some of us actually use those markers to make a club selection. This course tries to be posh but I have been to less fancy courses that had little colored bushes on either side of the fairway to show the yardage. Red leaf bushes at the 100 yard mark, yellow leaf bushes at the the 150 mark.
The fairways are okay but there seemed to be ground repair around all the greens. A ring of sand all around the green at the fringe, about 2 inches wide. I saw a gentleman hit an excellent approach towards a green. One nice bounce in front of the green and then it landed in that ring of sand and died. A beautiful shot ruined.
This place need to spend more time tending to the golf course instead of trying to be elegant. The food and the fancy clubhouse are nice, but people come back for the golf. They can get food and fancy at a lot of other places including other golf courses. I don't go to Home depot for tires for my car. I don't go to a golf course to eat either. I am just saying.
Take this review for what it is. It is still your decision. Play it if you want and decide for yourself. This is just my opinion.
Have a great day. And remember; Golfers are only happy when they are Tee'd off.

I did not finish my review. I was hung up on the poor green conditions. The course is a nice course for the average golfer to play. It does have it's challenges but not too hard. It was an enjoyable afternoon. I am an average golfer that doesn't play as often as I would like. I believe the best line that I have heard is, I have a hundred dollar putter and a handicap to match. If you are looking for a nice relaxed round of golf, this is a nice course to play on.

The greens need to be cut better. They cut them too close to the ground at the edges. There is no fringe around the green. The grass cutting crew does not care about their job. There is no pride in their work.
If I had known that I could have uploaded photos on this review, I would have taken them.
On a good point, there are some really cool antique war planes that take off from the airport.
