Truly excellent condition of tees, fairways, traps, and greens and a great value for walking 9-holes with Hot Deal. I play a lot of municipal courses across the northern half of Illinois and the quality and the condition of this course was the best I have seen. Remarkable. As good as or better than the private clubs I have played in scrambles and various charity events. Don’t miss it.

Took the opportunity to play Red Tail on their opening weekend of the 2021 season and what a good day it turned out to be. We are in full “thaw” mode in this part of the country, so there was some squishiness, to be sure, but no puddling. The greens were excellent and the layout, with its left and right doglegs, elevation changes and 2 challenging “island style” greens, is always first rate. Not sure how you beat Red Tail for cordial service, excellent layout and maintenance. I played Red Tail for the first time in 2020, so this was second time, and I will continue coming back here...more often...in the future.

What an enjoyable day at Wolf Hollow on this day as C-19 conscious golf is just ramping up in Illinois. The grasses and setting are just beautiful here. Elevation changes and sloping terrain keep the golf interesting from start to finish and with the multiple tee options available you can customize the challenge to your enjoyment/ability level. I love what the community and caretakers are doing with this course in Lena, and I thank them and GolfNow for making me aware of it with a ridiculously low $17 Hot Deal (walking) that tipped the scales in my decision to make the nearly 2-hour trip from my home from Cook County’s NW Suburbs. I will definitely be back here—deals or no deal.
