Deer Valley Golf Course - Ridge
Played On 04/10/2024Deer Valley Golf Course - Ridge
Played On 09/18/2023Decent course
Some interesting holes, for sure. Lots of blind shots. Prairie 9 was closed for aeration. The ridge had been aerated, so putting was brutal (bumpy and sandy). The Valley hadn't been done yet.
Ridge is great for slicers - just aim left and you'll be okay, even if you hit it straight. The Valley 9 can be tight in spots, so be prepared to hit a more controlled tee shot.
Coachman's Golf Resort - Red/White
Played On 06/30/2023Don't be in a hurry
Coachman's Resort seems to be a favorite for the Illinois crowd -coming up for a relaxing golf weekend. Don't be surprised if you see a group of five (or even six!) out on the course. In our case, the group of 5 did their best to move along (with groups ahead of them, there was nowhere to go anyway). They tried to wave us through, but it was a logjam. We went into it looking for a relaxing, unhurried round, so it was no big deal.
Staff is very friendly. The course conditions are okay, considering the recent drought. Lots of hard conditions around the green, so it's like trying to pick a ball off of the sidewalk at times. Fairways were okay, and greens were mostly decent.
Hard to complain for the price. If you're out for high quality and strict etiquette and pace of play, go to the Dells and pay more. If you don't mind groups of guys hamming it up, smoking cigars, and sharing some music - you'll be just fine here.
Bridges Golf Course
Played On 07/01/2022Riverside Golf Course
Played On 06/04/2021Always a good option
Riverside is a pretty standard layout with some straight holes and some bends. There are a couple tight drives through wooded alleys, which is fun. The "signature" hole might be the 92 yard par 3 over a giant oak tree.
I'd say course conditions have really improved over the past few years - always a pleasure to play here.
It was fairly busy, but things moved along really well.
Lake Wisconsin Country Club
Played On 05/07/2021A good option for the area
Lake Wisconsin Country Club is a decent course. The best? Nah. But it's typically in good shape and plays well. The layout is fairly forgiving, allowing a few stray hits without punishing you. The back nine throws a few par 3 holes at you early, so hopefully your irons are "on" by then!
Overall, this is a good option. I won't overpay to golf here, as there are plenty of other courses I can get to for similar rates.
Wild Rock Golf Club - Wild Rock Championship Course
Played On 10/21/2020One of my favorite courses!
We got a nice fall rate online, so it was hard to pass up hitting a round at this gem - even if the greens were aerated, we didn't care. Wild Rock is certainly one of my favorite courses - if not THE favorite. Note, if you come here during the summer, expect to pay premium prices.
Every hole on the golf course has character - I love that. No back-and-forth straight, boring holes. Rolling fairways, strategically placed bunkers, carries over quarry ravines, and undulating greens - Wild Rock will have you thinking about your next shot wherever you are.
The scenery is beautiful and the course is always in immaculate shape. I can't find one bad thing to say about it other than I wish it was a little closer to my home.
Bridges Golf Course
Played On 07/17/2020Good for everyone
I've golfed The Bridges many times. I always leave with the same feeling. Some fairways are narrow, so you better hit an accurate tee shot (I put my driver away on those holes). A few holes have some good character - elevation changes, dog legs, etc.
Beware of weather. If it has rained recently, a few fairways can be wet (more than most courses, but I've played worse).
Being next to the airport is a bonus if you enjoy watching planes flying overhead taking off, and landing. It's a treat when they scramble the jets.
Bridges Golf Course
Played On 05/25/2018Not bad for a good deal
The front 9 plays a little tougher than the back - for me, at least. If my driver isn't working, I don't enjoy playing here (that's my fault). There are some low-lying areas that can make for wet fairways, even when you don't expect it, so be warned. You're close to the airport, so if you like low flying planes (we do), it's kinda cool - especially when they scramble the jets.
The course is usually in decent shape. A couple holes backtrack around water, so you'll become familiar with those features.
The staff are nice, and I like the electric carts. I like other courses more, but for a good deal, I come here often.
Bridges Golf Course
Played On 06/02/2017Good course when the deal is right
We'll golf The Bridges when the right deal comes along. There are enough "character" holes for you to reflect on. Many holes require an accurate tee shot or, in a couple cases, a layup. I hit more 5-woods on this course than any other.
This course is good for control golfers. If you are a grip-it-and-rip-it driver that finds himself on other fairways frequently, you'll lose a bunch of golf balls and hate your score here. There are a couple holes where you can let the big dog eat without too much fear of losing your ball.
Course condition can vary depending on how the weather has been. If you're golfing after a rainy few days, you'll find a couple of the holes get pretty sloppy. Some of the greens can get a little beat up (I wish people were nicer to greens and tidied up after themselves!)
Overall, this course has a nice layout and will challenge you to make accurate shots when you might not want to. Play smart and you'll enjoy your round here more.
Woods Golf Course at Pleasant View Golf Club
Played On 07/11/2014A great play if the deal is right!
I love playing Pleasant View. I don't like the rack rates, but when a deal can be had, this is the best place to play (based on location and quality).
We bought three deals and got paired up with a single. Thankfully, the single was a good guy and fun to have with us.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. Thank you for the 4 stars! We aim for a 5-star experience, so we always welcome feedback for improvement. Thank you for playing Lake Wisconsin Country Club.
