I like the course but likely won't play again

We had the first tee time and played front 9 in about 1.5 hours. When we got to the 1st tee on the 2nd 9, there were already 4 groups on that hole! We were the 5th group and 3rd on the tee!
How can they schedule it so the 1st group off hits a major back up when hitting the back 9? Back 9 took 2.75 hours., for a total of about 4.5 hours...way too long for the first tee time of the day! To make matters worse, there was an extremely slow 4 some playing from the wrong tees...played red, should have been silver. There was no marshal to speed things up.
Too many DFW golf choices to pay $80 and wait 5+ minutes on every hole on the back.

You'll see from my ratings that I like the course but not enough to put up with that. I won't return.

Hello, mattkav. Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time, and we will continue to look for ways to improve. We are glad to see you rated the course conditions to be great during your game. Thank you for playing Wildhorse Golf Club of Robson Ranch - South/West Course. We hope to see you again soon.

like the course, too bad I'll likely never play again

I have not played Wildhorse since the 3rd 9 opened a year ago...maybe they're still learning how to coordinate the tee times. We were the first tee time and played first 9 in about 1.75 hours. When we made the turn to the next 9, there were already 4 groups on the par 5, which was the first hole on our 2nd 9! Needless to say, the back 9 was excruciatingly slow...2.75 hours.
By the way, we searched several courses to get the first tee time because we had commitments in early afternoon and did not expect a 4.5 hour round since we were the first group off.
I don't understand how can they time the nines so the first group off runs into a back-up on the back 9.

As you can see from my ratings, I like the course and it was in great shape! But I'll not subject myself to the 5+ minute wait on almost every hole on the second nine. There are just too many options from which to choose to put up with that.

P.S.: no marshals ..that contributed to the slow play. there was a foursome playing from the wrong tees. Painful to watch.

Hello again, mattkav. Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. With a very full day, we work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and allow our guest the chance to complete their rounds. With that in mind, we work to control pace and allow everyone to finish. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you again for choosing Wildhorse Golf Club of Robson Ranch - South/West Course.

Solid course...traps still need work

I've played GCoTx several times now...always enjoy the round. Course was in good shape for the most part: tee boxes in good shape, fairways great, greens good...some don't hold very well but they're consistent. Nice variety of holes.....you'll use most if not all of your clubs.
The one complaint I have every time is their traps are always terrible. They're either full of mud or rock hard.
Good news is I "hear" they're going to replace some, and remove some, so this one problem should not continue. No timing though.

Alsatian was ok, not great, but the price was right

Course generally in good condition. Very wide open course, though dry creeks and ponds do come into play.
The course was not fancy nor have many distinguishing characteristics, but the price was right. You get what you pay for.
I walked and carried my bag, which was a mistake due to the hot, humid weather. The back 9 is hilly, so that made walking even harder. The course would be fine for walking if the weather was milder, or if I used a pull cart. My game completely deteriorated in last several holes....I'll take a cart next time if it's so hot.
We played in just over 4 hours, which isn't bad for Sunday mid-morning tee time.
Starters, clubhouse and snack bar people were all friendly and helpful.

fun round, great pace

Brackenridge is a fun muni course in very good shape. it is fairly short but the 64 bunkers and tight fairways on the front 9 make up for the length. My group was 1st one off, so we played in 2.5 hours...love that pace!
I have the ACGT punch so my price was very low (the membership fee includes free and heavily discounted tee times). However, when I have paid full greens fee, I've always felt it was slightly over-priced by about $10 to $15. But, all-in-all, I recommend Brack for its challenge, variety of holes, and overall condition of the course.
It is rare to see a muni with so many well-maintained traps...maybe that's what drives up the green fees?

Course is in great shape

Greens were really good, fairways lush, sand-traps a little thin but not bad...overall, the course is in really good shape.
My only complaint is pace of play: playing the front 9 under 2 hours was great, but the back 9 took close to 2 1/2 hours. my group waited on the back 5 to 8 minutes in every tee box.
This is the 2nd round in a row, and 3 of the last 4 times, where the back 9 was excruciatingly slow. I love Silverhorn but don't know how many more times I'll keep going back...not worth the misery. And it wrecks my game....I tend to have a decent front 9, but a terrible back 9 at Silverhorn.
Nevertheless, I love this course and would rate it 5 stars if they could correct the pace.

really good all around experience

course in great shape...even sand traps. long-ish from the middle tees. wide fairways but plenty of trouble if you miss them. 3 of us played in 3 hours. great pace. got there too late to use practice facilities but they looked good.
only complaint...upcharge to have cart to yourself. there is a pandemic goung on. you know. scenic, elevation changes. lots of hole variety, wild deer everywhere. very cool.

nice course, but...

I've played Silverhorn a few times and always enjoy my round. Tough course in decent condition. Lots of GUR and construction going on...installing drainage I think.
Pace was slow today,,,foursome in front of us was slow with no one in front of them. No marshals to speed things up. I've usually paid an online deal when playing Silverhorn but none were available 3/14 ...$80 is a bit pricey for this course.
So, a nice course but pricey and slow today.

Thank you for taking the time to review the course, mattkav. However, let us first start by apologizing for your recent experience as this is not the standard we strive for at SilverHorn Golf Club. Due to sewer pipes collapsing under our golf course last December, there have been ongoing repairs taking place at the course. Fortunately, this project was recently completed and our team is in the process of having the course restored in areas that were destructed from the repairs. We have assured that this work does not affect play for our golfers, but we appreciate your patience & understanding during this time. We value your patience regarding the pace of play as well and all of your feedback has been escalated to our team for potential improvements. We hope you’ll consider giving us another try in the near future.

enjoyed the course a lot

2 different nines entirely...played Creeks and Oaks. Course in very good condition. Greens were a little too firm but not bad. Fairways in good shape. Sand traps were perfect. Didn't see any hard pan at all.
I know where the Oaks got its name...that 9 was a bit more challenging than the Creeks...lots of trees and blind shots on the Oaks. I'll play again and know more about it next time.
Overall...very enjoyable course.

I really like playing the Golf Club of Texas...but...

GCoT is a really nice course. Greens were in good condition...a little bumpy but not bad. Fairways were great, especially for late August. However...the traps were atrocious. Note I did not say "sand" traps as there was barely a grain of sand in any of them. Traps were generally just a hole filled with mud, or rock hard with a few stones.
I would have rate conditions a 4 or maybe even a 5 if not for these traps.
Despite the traps, I will play there again as I enjoy the layout and the rest of the conditions are always good to very good, they have a nice warm up area, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

way too long to play a round of golf

Played Mission del Lago for the 2nd and final time last week, I left on the 11th hole because I could not take the long wait between shots. There were no marshals to keep the pace reasonable, and we waited...and waited...between EVERY shot!.
The only other time I played there, I had identical experience. I won;t give it a 3rd try.

would have been a 5 hour round, at least, if I didn't leave early

I played Mission del Lago for the 2nd and last time a week ago. I left on the 11th hole because of the pace of play. 5 to 10 minute wait between shots. No marshals to move things along. The only time prior to this, I had the exact same experience. Clueless golfers are one thing; management not doing a thing about it is another. No marshals!
Won't return.

First time playing, will play again

The Quarry reminds me of a destination resort course: impeccable conditions; wide fairways; and top-notch amenities. While the fairways are wide, if you miss them, especially on the back 9, you will lose your ball. Back 9 is scenic as it winds through a limestone quarry (hence the name) but it is not as scenic as my expectations envisioned (it is not Sedona). Greens were in great shape, but a little slow. I assumed they were keeping the greens are a little long due to the oppressive heat we've been having.
I've been in Texas about 9 years. The midsummer conditions at the Quarry were as good or better ahn course I've played here. I'll play again (if I can get the golf now deal).
Play it...you'll love it,
