Rose City Golf Course
Played On 08/29/2022Great course condition
This is the best condition I’ve seen this course in years! When you play there please make sure to let them know and keep it up.
Heron Lakes Golf Club - Greenback Course
Played On 06/18/2022Not recovering from the rains well at all
The greens are in terrible shape, they need to do some serious recovery on these greens before the heat hits them. Bumpy, bald spots and obvious disease issues.
Fairways are still really muddy and thin Coverage
Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club - Ghost Creek Course
Played On 06/16/2022TPC quality in Portland area
The course was in spectacular condition, getting ready for the LIV Tour in a few weeks. Only draw back was the range was closed which I wish they would have notified me before my hour drive there, I ended having to putt and chip for an hour and half
Rose City Golf Course
Played On 10/03/2019Sooo Slooow and thin fairways poorly taken care of by golfers
Pace of play is so slow, every time I’ve gone out during the week at 10, 11, 12 doesn’t matter the old men (and women) play soooo slow! It should never take more than 2 1/2 hours to play the front nine on this course during the week .
I mean I get it that this is a city course and everybody walks and all the old people play there because it’s cheap but… anything over two hours and 10 minutes is ridiculous for a foursome, The course is barely over 6000 yards it should not take them that long
Conditions are below average there is a lot of thin muddy spots all over the fairway where grass is just not growing The only thing this place has going for it the greens are in good to very good shape and put fairly true for Poa Annua greens
I guess the Takeaway is golfer beware you’re going to be playing very slow for 5-6 hours if your playing 18 behind slow groups that have no interest in proper etiquette like fixing divots, filling their [hack marks] and keeping up with a decent pace...
oh and don’t expect or even ask to play through they take it personally and either ignore you or argue with you for even asking!
City courses like this would do well to have the starter and ranger making sure people know how important filling their divots and repairing ball marks is for longevity and playability of the course especially it’s health through the winter.
Rose City Golf Course
Played On 04/24/2019Stellar condition
This is one of my favorite (public) courses and it is in the best shape I’ve seen it in years. Greens are rolling pure feel smooth (not bumpy like most public courses)
Fairways are filling in nicely (from the typical muddy up-heaved winter fairways) and most fairway and rough lies were pretty plush.
Btw very little to no goose poop which you won’t find on just about all other Portland public courses!
Heron Lakes Golf Club - Great Blue Course
Played On 10/02/2019No notice of aeration tee to green
Unfortunately this course does not feel the need to let their customers know they’ve completely buried the course in sand and aerated the greens. Other courses let the customer know before booking if aeration has been done but not here and the tee boxes are 2 inches deep in sand... unplayable and full price?! By Felecia!
Heron Lakes Golf Club - Great Blue Course
Played On 04/04/2019Gooose pooop!
Played today besides the fact they didn’t feel the need to mention the greens had been verticut and sanded.... the Goose poop is ridiculous! This was the first time i’ve Ever had to wash my shoes and push cart after a round. Not to mention wash my towels and pants as soon as I got home.
You literally can’t walk 5 feet without stepping in or dodging (then stepping in) poop!
Oh and on the back nine my tee shot landed about 5 feet from a big ( I mean BiG) steaming pile of dog poop.
Playability wise: fairways were furry and lots of upheaval (think little reverse divots) I had to clean goose poop off my ball on every shot (not exaggerating) greens were crazy slow due to sanding.
The bunkers were my only reprieve from the greasy Goose slip and we’re surprisingly soft and able to handle a standard bunker shot.
I think I’ll leave this course alone till summer!
Stonecreek Golf Club
Played On 04/10/2017Wet and wild, but the course handled it well.
I played during one of the wind storms we had this spring with 10-25 mph gusts, raining most of the round and at some points heavy down poor. The course was still pretty firm and handles water very well. Greens putted pretty fast and true for a rainy day.
This is one of Portland area top 10 courses in my opinion I look forward to playing it on a dryer warmer day.
Champions Club At The Retreat
Played On 2/26/2013This course used to be a great challenging course, but...
The outside staff was great but the pro shop staff didn't seem interested in promoting the course or even providing a fair amount of customer service. The Asst pro that checked us in was dismissive and unfriendly...
The course is as challenging as i like but the fairways were in horrible condition and had a lot of dirt spots and patchy clumps of grass, tons of unfilled divots which suggests poorly managed maintenance.
its to bad because the potential of this course is great but conditions have gotten worse and worse every time i play there.
