1st tee was running 20-30 minutes behind schedule at 10am on a perfectly clear Sunday morning.. Pace of place was slow … it took 3 hours to play 11 holes. Combined with our 25 minute tee-off delay, we left at the 3h25m mark on the 12th tee before completing our round. The ranger was nowhere to be found. The practice range was hard as a rock, greens were hard and super fast, which is OK except when holes are placed on ridges of greens so a missed putt rolls 10 feet past the cup. Fairways were OK but still so firm we’d get ridiculous roll-outs. Not a great experience, not a great facility. A guy checking in ahead of me tried to order a Bloody Mary at the nearby snack bar, but the server told him they no longer have a liquor license. Valencia is just another typical Naples public golf course that wouldn’t cost $50 a round in the Midwest but costs $140-$200 per round during the season here. All that money and the golf operation is below average? Spend a little more and go play Old Corkscrew, a beautiful course with a first-class golf operation.

Nice traditional resort style layout. Greens were excellent, fairways good, tees ok. Most tees were grassed with same grass (and cut) as fairways. Fairway grass was nothing special … sparse in areas and probably due for reseeding. That said, the course is fun to play and multiple tees provide as much challenge as you want to bite off. Pricey without a hot deal, but a good value at the $90 pp rate we played.

Skip this place for a while. Holes 6-9 are completely dormant (fairways brown and dead) in preparation for a renovation. Unfortunately, the course did not notify us of this condition except for a sign posted at check-in. Not a lot of help if you’re booking in advance then driving 1 hour to get there. We won’t be coming back.

Mustang is a good course ... wide open and fair. As a public access course, the layout and conditions were good. As a private course, I expect more. Pace of play today was 4h 20m.

This is a really nice track and well worth playing. The course was in terrific condition and is set in some beautiful foothills ... lots of elevation changes. Don't be afraid to select a tee that matches a slope you are comfortable with, as its a challenging course. If you can hit the ball high, the greens will hold a shot. There are a number of approaches to elevated greens and not a lot of run-up options. Other than golf, there are virtually no amenities - just a tiny clubhouse with a limited menu snack bar & small outdoor patio. There is nothing else around for 40 mins in either direction ... not even a gas station. But the course is excellent and worth the drive..
