Dobson Ranch Golf Course
Played On 03/24/2023VERY Slow Play & Staff Lied to US about Pace of Play
We golf Dobson Ranch 3X/week. We have had slow play rounds before on Friday's, and yet DR staff does nothing to resolve these issues. Many times they allow 5-somes to golf. On the first tee box today, the starter informed us that they were playing 9 holes in 2-hours, and 18 holes in 4-hours and 8 minutes. The course sent a group of 17 players out ahead of us (1-5-some, and 3-4 somes). We waited on every shot, and 4 of the 8 holes we golfed there were 3 groups waiting on the tee boxes (we walked off after 8-holes after being on the course 2 hours and 32 minutes, and still had not completed 9-holes yet!!!). We did get a refund for 9 holes, BUT the pro-shop advised they knew where the problem was, and they "asked" the group to speed up to no avail. So they can refund our money, BUT they would not ask the slow group to leave and refund their money, thereby speeding up play for the entire rest of the course. One has to question the management style to provide refunds, but not when it would solve the problem for the rest of the course. What are they thinking? We have 4 future rounds currently booked at DR, two booked by others, BUT we will be cancelling the 2 rounds we have booked ourselves rather than give our green fees to a course that clearly does NOT care about pace of play, ONLY money! Save your hard earned money and give it to a golf course that respects the #1 issue in golf today... PACE OF PLAY!

We golf the course regularly. While Marshalls are on the course, there is no incentive for any slow players to change their pace. Other facilities (Troon Courses in Particular) manage pace of play much better. Troon would rather refund one foursome their green fees than have an entire course upset at a 5.5 hour round of golf (like we were). Give your marshals' some tools to speed up play besides "suggesting" slow players speed up! Have some fortitude and kick slow players off and refund their money, you will get a VERY good reputation quickly!
Dobson Ranch Golf Course
Played On 12/07/2022Course Over-seeded Well
The entire course was very wet, and fairways remained quite long as well, a combination that resulted in no roll-out on any shot (multiple parties we spoke to echoed this sentiment). Likely trying to ensure the fairways are lush throughout the season. OUTSTANDING friendliness of the staff. We golf 3-4 X/week, and golf around the entire Valley, including ALL Troon courses and We-Ko-Pa also, and my wife and I have NEVER experienced as friendly staff overall as at Dobson Ranch.
Arizona Grand Resort
Played On 12/05/2022AVOID AZ Grand!
This course has gone WAY downhill!
Greens were either bare, literally with just dirt in many places, to being completely fuzzy like a carpet, NO consistency at all.
Tee boxes are hacked up, and grounds staff is NOT even filling the divots on the tee boxes, maintenance was ignored everywhere.
Pace of play, well there was NO pace, at times we had three groups on tee boxes, and the Marshall indicated he was not going to do anything about it. The course prefers to let the ultra-slow guests of the resort set the pace of play. Marshall refused to even attempt to speed up slow play!
Save your money for many other worthy courses in the Valley, and most came through over-seeding much better than AZ Grand, waste of money, and bordering on a rip-off!

Played On 06/29/2014Good Conditions, Fair Price
After golfing Fairwinds the day before, Morningstar was a treat. Staff was friendly, everything well laid out, golf carts were in excellent condition, course well maintained. Much better value for money than Fairwinds.
Fairwinds Golf Club
Played On 06/28/2014Poor Service for Price
Arrived approximately 1 hour before 9:50 am tee time. Dropped off clubs at bag drop, no one to greet you. Parked our vehicle, made way to proshop, paid for round $210 for 2 people (as well as another $14 for two smaller buckets of balls). Went to the washroom, and found our own cart, our bags still not touched, arranged bags on cart. Tried to find range, but signage horrible. Found snack shop at the turn, and got directions to the range. Warmed up, returned to first tee, and played behind four ladies that were slow. Even though whole hole and a half between the ladies and next group, Marshall would do nothing. Returned cart to proshop and still not a soul around. Other than person to take your money, and starter who offered nothing as far as a greeting or advice, no staff for a $200 ticket. Also golfed Morningside, MUCH better service, and just as good a course.
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Saguaro/Tortolita
Played On 09/15/2013Only Worthwhile AFTER Overseeding
Many dead-spots on course in mid-September as course was to over-seed in the next few weeks.
Greens were terrible, absolutely terrible, a disgrace for a course of this caliber! We drove down from Phoenix to introduce our Canadian visitors to Dove Mountain only to discover the worst greens we had all putted on. We all complained after the round, but they indicated they were saving the greens for the WGC in Feb... five months away.
Practice greens were closed, but staff did not even know it. We went to ask staff where to practice, they had no idea the two public practice greens were closed. We had been many times before to DM, but this was horrible service, and VERY poor conditions... a disgrace.
Thank you for your review of Dobson Ranch Golf Club. Our staff is committed to providing a great golf experience!
